Introducing Down The Road With Brian Mallard. A travel series exploring... wherever the road takes us! One this episode we venture into Sumter County, Georgia...
I’m from Columbus with family from Plains, Americus , and Ellaville ; my family farm is in Ellaville. My grandpas home is in Plains right across the railroad tracks. Thank you for capturing these moments; from one Columbus native to another !
That was awesome beautiful place, I remember the coke machine growing up we would drink Coke but we woud put of all things peanuts inside the soda boy it was good.
Oh Brian this is fantastic, soooooooo beautiful, so glad to see small town America can survive, when alot of small towns are fading away, we so need to save it....This gives me so much joy in turbulent times we are in....God Bless you and Thank you for all the beautiful content 😃
Saw the coke vending machine. It had real glass bottles. Have you considered adding salted peanuts to your bottled coke? I had a friend call it a "hillbilly parfait". No offense intended.
Yell it works but not for a quarter. I remember the large king size coke was 10 cent and the BIG king size Baby Ruth was 15 cent. I would walk from my house on the farm 1 mile to the little store. Picking up bottles in the side ditch, needed 10, the store paid me 2 1/2 cent each. That was 25 cent, the cost of a drink and candy cause we didn't have the money. 1950-----------

I've actually done that before, I had heard of it as a Georgia cocktail and tried it..a few times. They are strangely good

That was a good time, sad it's not that way anymore. More recycling was done then for sure
