This makes me feel so old. I was obsessed with Tokio Hotel in my childhood / youth. I remember plastering my walls with their posters and listening to their music non stop when I was like 11. This was honestly well done! Of course, people will be caught up with the nostalgia of past but I love how they made this so different-sounding. I like sound of the different notes (? for the lack of knowledge of musical terms). It gives it a more detached, peaceful feel rather than the catharsis of the original emo rock style. This song feels detached -- but not in a bad way -- it really gives off the "Yes, these things happened. And I'm on another chapter now" kinda feel. I don't feel any strong emotion, just a feeling of centeredness. It's so calm. The video really enhances the song. Without it, it kinda feels a bit flat, but the video really adds more context.

I have to work until 7pm, have to see it afterwards, but can’t wait
I am a Tokio Hotel fan since 2007. I can say that I studied German for years to understand their songs and learning German lead my way to Germany in 2013. I studied in Bonn for a year and all my classes were in German. Now I am 3lingual thanks to them. I couldn’t attend their concert because they were in a break in 2013-2014 but I am so thankful for what they brought to my life. I had a very depressive childhood and my teenage years were the same. I just focused on studying more to escape from my house for university. I did that by listening their songs. I put stickers of German words and grammer all over my wardrobes. That was my way to relax. Nobody can speak in German around me so I feel safe when I listen/write/talk in German. They gave me this freedom in my mind and I was happy there.
Now I am 28, I am a food engineer and studying for a master’s degree. I was shy, antisocial, bullied in school and scared of people when I was in high school. Sometimes I still need to hide in my shell but I am more friendly now. Living in Germany by myself gave me the courage to talk to people, they made me trust myself. They made me an adult. I also studied in Poland for a semester last year. I visited Germany, my old university again and I visited Magdeburg, Leipzig and Berlin where Tokio Hotel was formed. I feel like I understand their sadness after I visited Magdeburg (where our twins were born in) so I feel like I understand them more.
They have improved as artists. I grew up, too. Even if I still love their old songs, I am an adult and I don’t feel emo like my teenager years. So they don’t feel the same after 10 years, either. They grew up emotionaly, mentally. I can understand that. Their music has changed, they don’t want to be sad emos anymore. Forcing them saying “do the old music, do your old concepts” is not right because they have changed. Bill is not going to do what you said. He never did and he will never do what people say. If you think that you can give him orders, it means that you don’t even know him. He is always going to do what he likes and he’s gonna improve as an artist in the future, too.
I am proud of them as their 13 years old fan. If I have a chance today to go to their concert, I would go no matter if they play their old songs or new songs. I really love them so much. Thank you very much to Tokio Hotel for everthing they brought to my life. Thank you for saving me from my hell. I can see how beautiful this world is now. Thank you for making me stay in this world. 🥺💕
Thank you for taking the time to write this comment. :) Very interesting story. And I very much agree with the part about TH growth as artists. It's not realistic that they would stay the same. The only thing I'm a bit sad about is that they feel less and less like a band as a unit and more like Bill himself. I mean, I love Bill but... you know. But that's just what I see, maybe they all participate on TH as a project, adding their equal parts of creativity and ideas, maybe just in different forms than playing the individual instruments. :)

Özlem Dr Thank you for your testimony. I am a different generation but when TH broke it through, I became a teenager at heart again and instantly loved their music. With a different icon and band and country in my youth, I had the same feelings, escapism and I also studied to relax. I've built a life of realizing my dreams against all odds and I'm still at it. I am very pleased and comforted to see somebody else (and I guess many many more people) managed to cope from unpleasant youth through music and language learning, building their own universe, bubble, and in turn, future. There is nothing wrong with struggling socially when you have a different experience of life, it's just normal. Tokio Hotel are stylish and talented artists, I love that they've graced the world with their work. If you get a chance when the global situation allows it again, do like me when the opportunity arises, book yourself to a VIP event in Berlin, so you get to see them close where it matters. It's important to meet your idol even if you don't get to actually talk with them. Nothing heals the heart like realizing one's dreams. Collect them! Also, you obviously will feel closer to them just like I did when you watch their documentary Hinter die Welt. People who are different struggle in ordinary social settings, it's just natural. All the best to all, Tokio Hotel people and fans alike!

The comments are upset, but lyrically they were so beyond their time. The song is still relevant today as an analogy for personal growth. This to me seems like a great representation of the monsoon they've mentally and spiritually overcome.. Sounds cheesy but so do some other comments😅

And honestly it makes so much sense for you guys to do this since changing music genres over the years. Hello, I am a very big fan of Tokio Hotel since now 15 years. When I heard this version I was not very fan because the original was for me impossible to remodel. But after a few more listens, I became a fan of this version. Not as much as the ultimate version but I can still listen to it making hours. This song made me obsessed with you (mostly Bill) so I bagged my relatives to send me your CD from Germany. I was literally learning word by word and meaning to it, so I could understand what you are singing about. I even bought tons of Bravo magazines, just because there was something about you. I couldn't understand a word, but I was so happy to see you in newspapers :) Day by day passed but my love for you never changed. Your songs meant so much to me through all teenage years, and even now, when I feel bad I just put your music, and I feel like all the problems fade away. It's like the song say: "When I lose myself i think of you"

I grew up on this.
As a cult survivor who escaped a family of 9 who ran away at early 18 years old with just a string bag with only what I can carry. I can say Durch Den Monsun brought me good memories though just with his music alone. My mom showed it to me before everything started to get really crazy. I was only a child. I’m 25 now these bring me so much memories of the family I wish I had. I feel like I was accidentally dropped here on earth by mistake. Always misunderstood & mistreated. I’m very grateful to have discovered Tokio Hotel when I did. Thanks mom even though she was also apart of the evil. Being let down by the your own family & not being saved by your own parents changes you as a person. I have suffered. But Tokio Hotel’s music makes me stronger. Thank you very much. The band & brothers in general. 💜🖤🔥

@@scorpzgca Every time I would ask him he wouldn’t tell me a straight answer. He would take my question & turn it “Latin” & take “Latin” & turn it toward the Bible & take the The words from the Bible & twist it, into his own words. There doesn’t have to be a what kind of cult.
- Just a family cult.
He would manipulate me to do things as a child & tell me we were gonna die. We lived our life to die literally as kids as if aliens would come any second. He used mainly conspiracies to determine what will happen & would twist it. Hard to explain. We never went to doctors, they were anti vax, we lived without electricity, not much food to where I had to eat spices from the cabinet. The house was filthy & dark & being r*ped constantly while he was telling me I was the one who will marry him in the kingdom. I was only 6. I never had normal things, no normal childhood experiences. I had to raise 4 of my brothers as the second oldest as a child, because my own parents were so stupid & more. Hooked on paranormal events & objects & aliens, & more. He is a pedophile psychopath. I was tortured. I was isolated. I was manipulated, & I was abused in general physically emotionally & mentally. I was brainwashed by all the things he would tell me. I use to be on his side growing up with only the religious part, except the “marrying” I always thought it was weird that he said that. He ruined my soul.
But it was then until I realized how fucked they are. & even out I was still brain washed for 2-3 years until I broke free & reported them. There’s private investigators out for their arrest. They took what I have left of my family and vanished & preaches on the streets & I think they could be in NYC somewhere. They’re scums of the earth & my poor siblings don’t understand how evil he is. How evil my mom is. All I want to do is snap them out but I can’t even find them for years. No family of my own the lonely ness of not having your own immediate family is hard. Especially when they’re the cause of everything I’m dealing with til this day.
People have to be aware who they let into their lives. They can ruin your children. Children are the most gullible. For me as a child growing up it was REAL. As an adult… IT’S BULL SHIT!
I don't care about the fact that they changed even if it hurts a little because I am emo af and liked their style 2010 ...The most important thing is that after all of this years they are still a band and they still rock. Bill's voice is the same and they are still cute. A lot of bands that I liked when I was 10 ended up splitting. They are still intact ❤❤❤ this is the most important thing, THAT I CAN STILL KEEP GROWING UP WITH THEM.. they are my first love 💜💜💜 they helped me so much. They helped me to be who I am now...I am 20 now and I hope they will keep being a band how they did all this yeaars (15 years)
