Jackie Gleason was absolutely perfect for this movie and for those times! He was over the top quint essential Gleeson, and there is no way in hell they could ever make a movie like that again. Glad I lived in those times where you could see crazy, outrageous, politically incorrect movies like that
Like the sheriff said... this car is no piss of crap... it's "valuable evidence...that gonna convict a maniac" Great movie... lots of great and funny moments.🫵👍✌️
Yes ... Bufford seems to have it a little more together than JW Pepper. Another JW Pepper line was.... "he a secret British secret weapon...JW says...On who's side" 👍✌️
Yes most vehicles were rear wheel drive in the 70s. Very few were made front wheel drive. This movie was great for the time with the actual stunts. However the trans am was unibody and would not survive most of the damage presented! Burt reynolds films always had exaggerated and edited chase scenes like WHITE LIGHTNING had dubbed over audio to exaggerate the ford galaxie. The jack scene was not exaggerated or edited here
Very true... ironically...the red convertible car the Bandit is in during the final scene might be GM's first front wheel drive powertrain... if it's a Cadillac Eldorado! 🫵👍✌️
@@FranksWorld1 oh yes I remember the craze for front wheel drivetrain especially up here in the north states for the winters. They implemented it for years closer to decades just here in the USA. If I’m correct I remember the Oldsmobile Toronado and Cadillac Eldorado going neck and neck as the first GM FWD vehicles, in 1967? Maybe 66. Was really odd, driving some of the biggest V8s available at the time before regulations in the early 70s.. with fwd!!
“Theirs no way, no way that you can come from my loins “ one of the funniest moments in tv history. Gleason was a genius.
Jackie was awesome! So many lines came from this movie…like “you pile of monkey nuts” ….etc…
My favorite line in the whole movie!

Sgt JW Pepper gone right!
JW Pepper was from James bond movies. My favorite quote from him was..."what are you boy...some kind of doomsday machine"
Yes ... Bufford seems to have it a little more together than JW Pepper. Another JW Pepper line was.... "he a secret British secret weapon...JW says...On who's side" 👍✌️
Smokey and the bandit was a classic movie….
Absolutely!🚓😎👍✌️
@@FranksWorld1 You got that right….
Is that car RWD? He couldn't possibly drive it with it on the jackstand or with a missing front wheel unless it were.
Yeah… rear wheel drive car! 🚔😎👍✌️

.07 ….. Except for that “Bandit” that’s why the sheriff tells his son to “shut your ass” the Bandit is getting on his nerves!👍✌️🚓

I like the scene where the driver of the truck rips off Buford’s car door, he knocks it way off of his car……
