To answer your question about Firstborn, it's not Garrett's personal experience per se but it is the experience a personal close friend of his went through, having to bury a child who died at I want to say about 6 years old.
"My resolve, does it shake beneath a four-foot casket shadow" absolutely destroys my soul every time.

Is that why Trilogy is called Trilogy? *gasp* dun dun dun
In all seriousness though I could see that and that's what I've thought for a while now. It is both a nod to the past, a closure/end of an era (apocalypse, peripeteia if you will), but looking ahead to a new one.
Would love to see a track by track for Iridescent for sure, though I can understand them leaving it up to interpretation (or maybe it being a personal album). Also interesting as to why there are no footnotes on Iridescent too. There are def a few references in the lyrics that I've noticed though (though they aren't listed). Very lyrically complex and very well done and thought out album, that I think I have an interpretation on, but am still wrapping my head around (dont think I have all the pieces yet).

I found out about Silent Planet when the single Vanity of Sleep released, and I don't know what it was, but something about that song specifically just gave me something to hold on to during the dark place I was in at the time.

Yeahhh this album goes so hard. The lyrics, the breakdowns, the atmosphere. Its tied with Iridescent for me for my favorite SP album. My first experience with this band was seeing them live in 2018 with ABR, they were the opening band and they opened their performance with “Panic Room” and “Native Blood”. Im also part indigenous and i have a relative who suffers from schizophrenia and Garrett mentioned to the audience that these 2 songs were dedicated to his friend who suffers from Schizophrenia and to all the Native/indigenous members in the audience. It made me so emotional, it made me tear up.

Just to comment on the last 4 songs, they definitely are songs that don’t have a wow factor for first listens, but they come back when you listen to them a couple more times. Firstborn, I believe, is about Garrett’s friend who lost a child. I believe Garrett does a breakdown of each song’s lyrics. I know he did for the album before this “Everything Was Sound”. I feel like SPs style is almost chaotic on a first listen, but once you start to learn the songs they just keep getting better and better. Def a band to pay attention to with cross references within their own works (aside from other footnotes, they will often nod to past songs/albums, Currents and Architects and others do this too).
[[Was just about the answer with that riff you found so familiar from Northern Fires. Scorpion Hymn by Erra around 1:17. But it seems you got it already. Nice. Man starting to know his stuff, safe to say you're becoming a metalhead now. Come a long way in since you first started. Maybe safe to say you found your favorite sound or vibe in metalcore (specifically prog metalcore) (though I love both core and non-core metal)]]
Also multi part or connected songs across albums too. Depths trilogy is the big one of course. But also check for First Mother, First Father, and Firstborn. Firstborn being from this album.
*also when you get to the first album, def recommend the redux (rerecorded/remixed) version of the album. The original is great too, but the redux really brings the potential/greatness of that album out even more (it's up to you though).

sorry i have to butt in but theres a couple things i wanna note here:
"Cogito Ergo Sum" or "I think therefore I am" is a proof of existence which states that one exists because a being capable of thought must, necessarily, exist.
This is slightly different from solipsism which is belief that the self is all that can be known to exist. Slight differences but important to note in epistemology.
It's also Rene Descartes teachings in philosophy, not psychology.
I highly recommend you check his writings out though. Epistemology is the study of knowledge (how we acquire it, how we can trust it etc.) and Descartes is one that we study first amongst others.
