- The highly anticipated ATR has been released and we give it a go from Bora Bora down to Papeete! I am not a type rated pilot in the ATR so some things are definitely wrong procedure wise however I am still learning!

Super impressive video, Jeff. Especially seeing how quickly you learned this plane, sorted out the issues you were having, and ultimately put together an excellent showcase of all the elements coming together here.
Dude you unlocked nostalgia....
My 2nd job I worked for American Eagle in TJSJ (San Juan Intl), and they only equipment were those ATR72... Good memories driving my golf cart in between those engines spooning.
I used to love spotting those ATRs when I was a Kid, Loved it. My Uncle flew them based in TJSJ for a few years!
heeey this is where i live ! i'm from tahiti, my father was a captain in air tahiti for 30 years or so, my sister is a pilot in air tahiti nui 787 and i am doing my pilot studies (in ifr sim now). Amazing to see my land in your video mate !
Cool!
That would have been a close V1 stop down in Bora Bora!! Great scenery...it's crazy how far MSFS has come.
Very cool. I used to be an aircraft mechanic on ATR42 and 72 back when the panel colors were a poop brown..lol. Can’t wait to give this a try. Never ran engines or taxied a glass cockpit. All we had were old steamer gauges. Worked for TWE ( Trans World Express) at lambert-St Louis intl.
The good ole 500's! I worked on the Haith ramp for years at STL
When I was in high school (early 80's) we went on a field trip to Williams Airforce base. Our guide (I'm not making this up) was Lieutenant Lusty. That was her name, and she was BEAUTIFUL. Anyways, she showed us the "state of the art" flight simulator that had a mock up of the entire valley on the wall. Basically it was a huge diorama plastered on this huge wall. On this wall was a camera mounted on an X,Y and Z axis. This camera's movement was controlled by the student in the cockpit. We were AMAZED at the "high tech". If we would have seen MS Flight simulator then, we would have certainly soiled our britches.
Also... as part of the tour we got to see how they made helmits for the fighter pilots and one lucky kid got a helmet custom made to his head. They even put a nick name on it for him. Sad thing I'm sure he grew out of it in 6 months as we were all in the throngs of puberty.
MCT = maximum continuous thrust
Usually use only in emergency or icing,
Use Power management = CLM after acceleration altitude. 16:11
yes this I have been learning, thank you!
I could only dream for my sim to look this great
I am a ground handler for the ATR 72's here in Australia. We really do have a love hate relationship with the aircraft. Baggage loading is a pain in the ass with the 2 compartments. Baggage needs to be weighed and the individual actual weight of each compartment calculated.
Simulator is so realistic though, so many unique quirks to the ATR
I completely understand the logistics of it all but...a bit sad to see all the U.S. majors have retired or are retiring their turboprops. My dad worked with Continental for 30 years & I grew up flying over the Rockies on gold-tailed ATRs and Beech 1900s. The sound of a turboprop is pure nostalgia for me
yep, even alaska retired there dash 8s :(
I luckily have Aer Lingus, Aurigny and Loganair which operate them locally.
Hey Jeff absolutly love the video. your the reason that I got into flight sims, I now play MSFS everyday becasue your videos! Just wanted to say I've flown to Bora Bora airport (NTTB) on the exact airplane for a senior trip!! Keep up the great work man, much love!!!
As a series x player it was super helpful watching you go through pre flight and landing procedure. Thankyou sir!
The intro with trumpet was great! bc I play trumpet, great plane!
My friend flies for loganair and is a first officer on this specific aircraft type. He loves the aircraft, and systems say it's a very stable platform, especially for a smaller turboprop.
The beginning was so cool, literally the best part of the video
The music is nice I needed a bit of music here in the uk cargo rush in the morning thanks man
Man i love the sound of the props! So good!
Someone may have already said this but I'm not reading all. All the controls that are on lower pedestal are built into the mfd, pfd. Look at settings page down at bottom. It will show you. Map zoom, etc. Heat video as always. Back in the day I learned almost everything I know about simming from you. Thank you for all that you do.
The ATR 72 is one of my favorite turboprops ever!🎉
love the flight sim videos Jeff, well made!
That b-roll was amazing whatttt
This brings me back to the Air Moorea FSX video you did in Bora Bora all those years ago… thanks Jeff!
Callsign 127 is cool. Nice flying.
The calm waves of bora bora
ATR themselves posted about this addon! Shows how good it is.
I don't usually watch much of your flight stuff, but this video's presentation (especially the intro) looks great. Good work, love your videos!
The ATR-72 despite its issues in the past is a beautiful looking aircraft.
I really like how the intro was done!!
As you accelerate place your aileron back to neutral gradually you dont need them anymore for the x wind because rudders becomes effective . If you keep your aileron, you gonna roll as the lift is building up . Nice departure 🎉
that's why I did that, with MSFS and the Weathervaning you have to eyeball it. I saw roll on the wing so in this case I had to counter it pretty much to V1 albeit ever so slightly.
That intro gave me instant holiday vibes. You are a genius Jeff. Much love from Italy!
Awesome Video Jeff! Great flying as always also if i may say you buttered the bread with that landing! 10/10
open the video and first thing i hear is vacation music lol! well done Jeff! keep em coming!
i love the tropical scenery!!! could you do a air tour of the bahamas? perferably Nassau and Freeport. im going on a cruise in may and i'd like to see what it'd look like.
That would be cool!
Ive recently been flying the ATR, and its a great plane. I spend most of my time in the fenix a320 or pmdg 737, but the atr and crj are both great.
Great to see Bora Bora again Jeff! Your first video I ever saw and reason I subscribed was your Air Moorea Bora Bora video on FSX.
The ATR is an even better bargain at 12.99 US right now. Just picked it up because of your video!
Love the production quality of this one Jeff!
That intro was fire Jeff
Best video of ATR !!
Been waiting for this.
Great Video! I love how thorough you are, we basically get a full tutorial how to cold start and shutdown this airplane.
I couldn't catch the stream of this but stoked there is a video showcasing it now!
You didn't miss much but troubleshooting haha
haha right on brother.
Love the flight sim vids Jeff! It’s amazing of what you can do! Keep being you!
I live in Houston so looked up the expo. I live about 15 min from lone star flight museum. It’s pretty awesome. I’ll be there!
I love the variety bro.
Looking forward to a cold and dark start from you Jeff
Fantastic video Jeff, I've been waiting for an ATR to come out for a while. Your reviews help a ton!
Hey Jeff, you need to get a custom livery for Big Mama Juju Airlines. Crawfish shipping goes to New levels
BORA BORA CHEESEBURGER
Sure
I have lived in Florida for 2 years... . ( no Comparison ) just the heat 24/7 High 80s to 90s. ... I went nuts.... ... you need snow and cold. Lol
Nice flying of the ATR man. Just a note though, not sure if it's your preference but I'm sure you're supposed to set your prop conditioners to auto after take off and set the power mode to climb. Then you should hear the props rpm change. Then you either fly with them in auto until landing or go back to max in gusty conditions while landing. I've observed this in many ATR videos. Thats why in your video it sounded like you were in max rpm during the cruise. Just thought I'd point that out there. Great video regardless. Continue to do more!😎👍🏿👍🏿
This is really impressive one thing only is you don’t have to set the landing elevation and press manual newer msn ATR 72 does that automatically with the FMS
Top tier intro 🔥🔥
Immediately like for the intro!
Love the intro!
God bless ya jeff for figuring this plane out man haha. Last night's stream was a whirlwind lmaaao.
you ain't lying! haha
It’s always cool to see these flight simulator videos. Keep up the great work Jeff, have a great day!
Amazing!
Great video mate.
hey jeff theres actually click spots on the page next to the checklist so you dont have to look down and press those buttons to tick the checklist
I learned this later haha after watching the new Asobo videos that came out
Nice landing
Awesome Jeff! looking forward to more ATR flights.
41:00 I'm not sure about this aircraft but in the q400 you are supposed to use reverse thrust after the nose wheel has touched down to prevent that from happening so maybe it's similar.
ITS SAME FOR ATR 72-600 AS WELL REVERSER ONLY AFTER NOSE HAS TOUCHED DOWN
Although I'm not really an airliner guy, I do think this aircraft is pretty cool. Might have to grab it at some point.

United Airlines Calibrate program get paid on the job training at $27.90 an hour to become an Aviation Maintenance Technician and top pay is $61.75 an hour!
Also Fly Eagle Sport LLC Glendale, AZ has a Sport Pilot course (all inclusive) for $11k and a Private Pilot Course (all inclusive) for $15k (among other courses)
Man, I totally agree on what you mentioned regarding the acft being a little bit of a hog on climb. I’m Not a real atr pilot (2k + in helicopter though) but Shesh it’s just a little poor on the climb perf IMHO
Cool vid😊
What an intro!
enjoyed the overview and nice flght and landing
Jeff, your cinematic additions to your videos are amazing. Have you ever considered making a video (or series of videos) showing how to improve the quality of our videos by adding these cinematic scenes? My videos are very plain compared to yours.
Just use the drone cam it’s amazing
@@jfavignano Thanks.
Hey Jeff I love watching your videos. I also messed up my knee running lol
aye these are the planes we have in New Zealand for our domestic flights!
Hey jeff i started playing it also but im not good at it yet im still taking lessons to get better flight simulator ❤❤❤❤❤
very nice landing !!!
Nice video, would like to see more of the ATR
It's slow, over distance, but fast heavy on landing, but a lots and lots of fun. The ATR is for less than £17 a bargin!!
Yh it’s £16.74 quid bare cheap, for what the plane can do
@Calum Lonzie it's certainly worth it, have fun....
This video was cool I like this plane ur bow do u even get to this mode or is this free flight
Actually did this exact flight in real life last month. ✈️
Nice. Very nice. They need to work on the sounds now. They got the graphics, procedures, and effects. Now the sound.
I’m hoping FTSim pulls through
They included the horn that the IRL version has to alert ground crew.
nose wants to fly up because you applied reversers before the nose properly touched down. The real thing does that too so you gotta press that nose in
I just flew on one of these as a connecting from Trinidad to Saint Vincent, they are loud!
Yeah I know they are loud
I thought you’re supposed to leave the condition levers in auto and only move them to max power if you need to, that’s what a guy said in another video anyway. I could be wrong though
In 737NG Driver's ATR72 "first impression" stream he ahowed how quickly it bleeds the speed off.. interesting you are seeing the opposite.
I don't think it's that bad I just think it is a tad slippy
nice flight
Just a quick note - I believe engine 2 prop brake should still be on throughout the engine one start procedure, although possibly varies from airline to airline?
I watched silver airways do it the procedure shown here
Finally. The original one on the market was horrendously terrible.
Amazing 🤩
What software do you use to replay your landings? Great landing as well!
Sky Dolly
@@jfavignano Sweet! Thanks man!
Great video Jeff AS ALWAYS! Love u'r using the Vatsim....makes it much more fun dosn it? Also more fun to watch. Thanks Jeffy. Boogie Woogie!
Great video! Seems like this plane has more options than the A320, lol
Noice video jeff!
my favorite plane
Reminds me of tourist videos I show clients
What are you using for a flight recorder to get these awesome cinematics, Jeff?
I use the free program Sky Dolly
Just found your channel, very nice, subscribed and thumbs up! Looking forward to more and checking out your other vids. Thanks for the entertainment!
Thank you and welcome!
jeff i love yor videos plees ceep it up
Love the video.
jet powered aircraft kinda bore me, but Turbo props? clicked very quick.
Sick video👍
Off topic: but you & the boys should go back to beam & see if y’all can outrun the flood. That would be hilarious.
