@@eriqrosado3337 thats not a "mod", thats draining the rad and putting some thread sealant on the drain plug / sensor bung

Loving the new FG XR7 Turbo
I removed the short shifter my fd came with and rebuilt a stock shifter as they are serviceable and it felt much better than the notchy short shifter but each to their own. Couple of fyi's the rubber shifter boot is meant to be 2 peice (top part sits around outer edge of bottom boot) but your bottom boot needs to be replaced as its meant to seal around the gear stick itself. Another thing is the shifter itself has its own section for gear oil that is not shared with the rest of the gear box. you need to syphon out the old oil and fill it back up with 80-95ml though the shifter hole.
Yep similar in my RE Capella that has a mongrel box, S4 bell and extension housing, S5 core.
When I got the car, it had a short shifter and I hated it, felt like you spent most of the time arguing with it to get into gear.
I had to get it rebuilt due to ham fisted driving, the guy I got the car off weighed 200kgs. I just "putt around" in the thing lol! Cost about $600 to get that done, needed synchros and selector forks done. The gearbox rebuilder suggested to ditch the short shifter, which I was going to do anyway.
Threw in a stock shifter, with new bush and absolutely fantastic (well better anyway).
@@Gooie69 has it got a custom clutch in it? Don't the S6 boxes have a weird input shaft?
Years ago (talking mid/late 90's) a mate had a converted Capella. Had a 626 core with RX7 S2 housings. The bush on the bottom of the stick had gone, so we used an offcut from an air line. Tried garden hose, but the stick got too floppy as the box got hot. Airline worked well.
@@peteanderson2533 funnily enough i had to do the same sort of thing to a rx4 wagon at perth powercruise 2019. Used an offcut of some pushlock hose we had spare. Lasted the whole weekend and the next 3 months afterward as we forgot we did it 🤣

Shifting way to early there Zac! it's a rotary, it needs you to rev it otherwise you'll foul up the seals. Let it get over 4500 and the second turbo kick in 😉

@@Gooie69 never said I was an expert, but my understanding from mates is that always nannying a rotary builds up carbon in the ports that can get into the apex seals which leads to them scoring the housing and inevitably early rebuild. Going off advice rotary specialists and mates have given its one of the things I always did regularly with my rotas

You are supposed to put a dab of grease on the nylon bushing both inside and out to prevent premature weare, and it would not hurt to buy a couple spares while they are still available.. you should replace the bubber boots both inner and outer as well.. Cheers!

Replace AST with a metal one, get a pwr radiator, make sure you warm it up everytime, 5000km oil changes and rev each gear above 5k (except when cold) and it should be trouble free motoring.
Check your PPF's alignment. The transmission shouldn't sit that far to the right in the tunnel. It should be much more centred.
First mod i did was a short shifter. I got the wrong shifter ... I'm buying a cube speed shifter because of your video.

my wife has a 40th Anniversary Edition RX8, and that shift knob would be sweet .......
You should take it to redline sometimes to blow the carbon build up off the rotors, that's a thing.

Yeah, it’s a mixture of exhaust hitting the rear row point and belts, tightened the alternator pully and no more squeak ☺️

Did you even fix the coolant issues? Don’t think 🤔 fixing stock shifter should be last on the list of stuff to do... I really really hope that you’re doing massive amounts of homework on the Mazda RX-7 chassis. Just saying. From an amateur to an amateur. Rotarys are amazing please learn more and educate yourself! See that’s what I mean Zac watch a video bro before you destroy this beautiful car. Please🙏🏽
😂😂 man, I don’t know if you watched the last video or even the rest of this video, but please watch them, the coolant issue is something I have fixed/and are currently working through. I’m doing it one step at a time so I can try to figure out what the problem is. Next thing I’m going to try is the rad caps. No point doing everybting at once as you may skip over it and never nail the issue entirely. I’m doing as much research as I can. And you’ll see more in the video coming up.
