This snowstorm brought HURRICANE SPEED winds!! The strongest winds we've ever experienced here at our cabin on Svalbard. In this video we spent a few days stuck in our cabin, and we also head into Longyearbyen to see how the village deals with the aftermath of a big snowstorm. I hope you enjoy the video and thank you so much for being here! đ§Ąâïž

I love the new shelf!â€â€â€
Random question! How do you keep your vehicle batteries from not dying in the cold when parked? I live in alberta Canada, we get -40 weather and have to plug ours in to charge the block heater.
I also wondered about the batteries...
Super niche question, but I'm curious about what ice/snow removal products are allowed to be used in Svalbard? In Minnesota people use a ton of salt and grit for management but I'd imagine the ecosystem of Svalbard is protective against it's environment and ecosystem?
I love the shelves. I'd want real plants. Can you have real plants with a plant light.
Also did you get a package from MD,USA a bit over a month ago. It had some Blue Buffalo dog snacks in it for Grimm . I use to walk dogs and they loved Blue buffalo Dog snacks. Plus there were a bunch of other American snacks .
I don't know how to put this into words, hopefully I'm not the only one. Cecilia, there is something about you that turns everything into magic. Your videos are dream like, fairy dust and magic yet you are so relatable, down to earth and so kind. I will watch your videos till the day I die or you stop making them. Thank you isn't enough but I have no money to give. My love is what I can give and I do.
đ Thank you so much for this lovely comment đ§Ąđ§Ąđ§Ą

Grim absolutely REFUSING to go outside is too pure đ
his ancestors would be ashamed đ
@@marshal3577 His ancestors wouldn't have gone out into storms like that either. They were smart.
Yes. The intelligence of Grim's ancestors is why this beautiful boi is w/ us today.

Grim was on point today! Lying down next to his buried toy đ„° âPlease help, momma!â
As a Canadian, it's so refreshing to watch a channel i can relate to. There are so many vloggers making videos about their tropical vacation in Bali, etc. Seeing videos about snow & cold makes me feel like i do belong on YT LOL. My latest video was me shoveling. đ§
Jonna Jinton does a beautiful vlog from her house in Northern Sweden. More snow plus shovelling....
Wow! I can only imagine. Living in Florida and having been through many, many hurricanes, cat 3, 4 and 5 I understand the wind, rain and flooding. Are the cabins and windows somehow reinforced? I actually grew up in northern and southern New England, Connecticut and New Hampshire. Snow isnât anything new. But, I canât imagine the cold!đ

I love how Grim wanted you to dig his toy out the snow for him, like he had no claws to do it himself ! đ¶đŸâ€ïž Thank you for another lovely video. đ

The Northern Lights were so beautiful! đ Thanks for sharing. Grim sure loved it when the storm ended đ
Were the aurora shots in real time? I rarely see shots that haven't been speeded up.
@@spikespa5208 Yes, real time. :)
Seeing our national animal as a toy for Grimm was hilarious. Thank you for such wonderful stories and film of Svalbard and your lifestyle, from downunder.
Just a small token of appreciation for all of your videos and content. Very much in love with your fluffy teddy bear, Grim!
It is beautiful there! Grim is a delight. Every time Grim barked or played with his squeaky toy, my daushund Ginger, would get sooo concerned and confused. She would start crying and barking. Funny that a dog at the most northern place and a dog in Alabama, USA could understand each other!
So glad everyone is safe from the storm!
Cecilia, this was great to see your snowstorms and the aftermath. I live in Michigan in the states and I thought some of our storms were bad, but you definitely win that prize! Sweet little Grim! Just love him in all his furry beauty!
Your cabin must have incredible construction to withstand that storm!
Awww, I love watching Grim because he reminds me so much of my Walter. He was an American Eskimo mix and had a similar personality. Lots of the same quirky mannerisms! I adopted him when he was 7, and like with Grim, a lot of people were surprised when I told them his age too. Acted like a young pupper till the very end â„ïž
Have you ever had to deal with a rouge wave? One of those monster waves that come out of nowhere. Living so close to the water, that would be my biggest worry. Love your homeâ€ïž
With all the solar flares going on, I had a feeling youâd be seeing a lot of gorgeous Auroras. Caught me off guard for a second when you said here comes the bus. Thanks for sharing this with us Cecilia!!!â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Grim is the main character in this video đ€Ł his refusal to go outside was so comical, his excitement cannot be contained after the snowstorm passed, and his pitiful whines when his toy was buried and he just kept palming it like he has ho claws đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
the aurora borealis was soo soothing
I love shoveling snow! I have house-sat people who both had big circular driveways. It took me several hours each day to complete it. The general caught me on their camera and sent his son to tell me I did need to do that, but when he came home he was glad to be able to drive right in and I was grateful to be able to get out! Their dogs and I had a ball being out in the snow chasing each other! Oh, this was in the north Seattle are, where they usually donât get a lot if any snow.
Your blue light in February is exactly what we had (at least for a few hours per day) during the weeks we spent up in Arctic Norway in late December. It was so beautiful -- and so foreign to us as people who have spent the last 43 years in South Florida.
Grimm is just the cutest, and sweetest dog!!! And those Northern lights are breath taking. I can't imagine them in person. Thank you for sharing this beautiful part of our world. Very much enjoy it!!!
Love their cozy cabin, and absolutely love Norway's storms. There were three winter hurricanes I experienced during my years there. Unlike in the U.S., Norway builds to accommodate them. Notice no boarding up windows etc. However, I confess a great fear of water and waves coming, even though Cecilia reassures it can't happen there.
Wonderful people, great country, great memories đșđČđ§đ»
Shutters on windows will primarily protect against solid objects in the air. It will not be a lot of that in Svalbard when there are no trees and the ground is frozen.
If you need them to protect the glass it will simply not be thick enough glass in sturdy enough window construction
There are building codes in the US that accommodate hurricanes. For instance, in south Florida counties, building exteriors, including window openings, are required to withstand the impact of an 8 foot long 2x4 traveling 200 mph on end.
If I was Grim I'd say nope to going out in the storm (even to pee). I subscribed after watching the Kara and Nate video, and now I want to get my weekly view of our fluffy boy â€
It must feel so cosy listening to the storm in bed, awww Grim taking centre stage! He's adorable †x
How fun to watch this snowstorm from the relative warmth of the Smokies in Tennessee USA. If we get one inch of snow here they empty the store shelve of milk and bread. They close the schools for a week. How beautiful your home and your town look in this white blanket. Thank You for sharing... Hello Grim scratches and hugs!!
đšđŠ Hello again from Ontario Canada! I loved your comment Cecilia where you said there's not bad weather but bad clothes! Lol so true. Thank you so much for always keeping it real Cecilia. I love following along with yourself, Charlie and Grim! Always be safe guys! đšđ
Iâll never get tired of seeing the northern lights. I live in Texas, USA and we donât get the opportunity to see them so I love when you include a little of that! Also love your music choices in your videos. Good to see Kristoffer and Grim, too of course! đ

Grimm and his kangaroo squeaky toy is the cutest thing on CZcams!
Also, him crying over his buried toy: my â€ïž.
That was a seriously outrageous storm!
Svalbard is a beautiful place..snow or not! It is beautiful here in Michigan, too, when the snow arrives, but I don't care to drive in it some days. I feel it is the other people on the road that drive like crazies when the roads are snow packed and icy, which gives a lot of other drivers anxiety. Grim is such a cutie.. For seven years old, he appears to do great and enjoys dog life. Enjoy your snow!
All the videos you have done with the northern lights have been so amazingly beautiful. I love watching them with the beautiful music you put on them! Some people will never see that in there lifetime, this will be the closest thing! So Thank-you!
We know itâs crazy weather outside when Grim decides to stay inside đ
Oh, my thatâs incredibly scary! And here I am thinking 32 degrees is đ„¶. Stay safe & warm!â€
-5 or whatever isn't really cold at all, especially when you dress properly. Just before Christmas it was -30 here, and -55 where my friend lives in the mountains. THAT is *really* cold! Probably pretty unimaginable for anyone living in a more temperate climate. đ
Keep in mind the temps shown on Ceciliaâs weather app are in °C; itâs not as cold as you may be imagining. Not that itâs _warm,_ of course, but I think the usual temperature in Longyearbyen is much colder than the snapshot weâre seeing here. The wind, otoh, is pretty extreme, especially when you combine it with the temperature, proximity to open ocean, and lack of sunlight.
Scary????
-3 Celsius is 26 Fahrenheit, it's obviously chilly but it's not anything that proper warm clothes can't deal with. I do think the wind can bring the subjective temperature down quite a bit. But I'm sure they have times on Svalbard when it's A LOT colder than this.
It warms my heart everytime I see Grim so well loved and taken care of heâs so increadibly cute â€
Oh those northern lights!!!đđđ
Wow what a âïž storm , love how it looks after itâs over so peaceful and so pretty. Glad you guys are safe and Grim finally go to go out and run around . CECILIA!!!!! Can you make us a sights and sounds only video? đ No talking. No music. Nothing. Just scenes and sounds. Capture what the mood would be if I were there all alone. Like a 30 min video. Thanks!âșïž Love from Arizona!!!
I want to do an ASMR video, so I'll start working on it đđ It's gonna be a challenge for me to be quiet for that long đ€Ł
Grims refusal was too adorable. Hes like nope. đ€Łđ„°
One of my dogs got so excited when he heard Grim playing with the squeaky toy (he loves squeaky toys too). It was so cute. đ
Grim and northern lights, just what I look forward to on a Sunday morning. I would love a video of just the lights and music to keep on in the background while reading.
đšđŠ The lights are just sooo magical. Seeing them makes me emotional. To see it on a video probably doesn't do these lights justice, even though these are beautiful clear pictures. Like visiting the grand canyon. You really have to be there to feel and see the whole picture of it's beauty. Cecilia, Charlie, I just want to say again * Thank you both* for sharing your part of this beautiful world. There are millions of us that wouldn't know or get to see these if it weren't for you's. đđâ€ïž
The northern lights are just magical and love how they were dancing for you đ
Grim was so adorable whimpering and briefly 'standing guard' over his buried stuffed toy. What a gem he is, as you well know. By the way, is there a veterinarian in town? Thank you for another wonderful video. Leigh, Texas
Yes there is a vet in town. In 1 of her recent posts she takes Grimm 4 a check up + 2 pick up some vitamins or something 4 him.
