There was a brief moment in February where I actually believed that my brother and I would be able to go to a playoff game at the LCA this year. This last month has been the biggest gut punch I've ever had from a team I cheer for.

Lindgren has lost a few times and gotten blown out, but in the games he has won he has the best SV% and GSAA in the entire NHL (compared to all other goalies in their wins, to be clear)

Wings blew it. 9 points ahead of Washington going into March and today they were behind them 1 point for the 8th seed. Today was a must win and they blew it after leading in the 3rd. With Washington on a hot streak now, that's pretty much the season right there. Lalonde and this team should be ashamed of themselves.

Yzerman needs to find a way to add a top 6 power forward, 2 middle 6 grinders and 1 heavy top 4 defensive defenseman in order for the Wings to be a true playoff and potentially Cup contender.
And possibly add a solid proven veteran goalie that’s in their late 20s or early 30s to help mentor Lyon & Husso, not to mention the added veteran goalie would be the best option to start in the postseason.

Red wings have goalie and defense issues. This season is done. Lalonde is on the hot seat no doubt too. What a fckn brutal past month for this team. Just absolutely pathetic stuff.
Lyon couldn't stop the second goal because Chiarot was in the crease and blocked Lyon's skate when he tried to move.
The best part is the Caps have a game in hand on the Redwings and 2 games in hand and only 1 pt back from the flyers, we control are own destiny in both playoff positions right now. If we were to finish the season out .500 over the last 10 games and the flyers finished .500 over their last 8 we would take 3rd in the division and we also hold the tie breaker over the redwings right now with 28 regulations wins to their 25 which could end up being the difference.

Dylan is 3rd best of the 3 recent former Hawks forwards playing in this game. All 3 were kicked out of Chicago in the same couple years. They were a line together and scored a lot of goals.
Kane and Cat very much wish Detroit had Dylan and his contract instead of copp.

I went to this game and it was a great game for both teams but the caps came out with the close overtime win. I think the capitals will be sitting well in the wild card spot.

I love the spirit that the Red Wings are showing. But I think next year will be better. If we make the playoffs we probably won't make it far. The better overall team lost, however this is what happens when said lesser team, does indeed have vastly superior goaltending.
One final thing I will say is I’d much rather compete against the tailing Flyers for the final wild card spot than Washington. So keep winning, Washington.
Well wether you would like to admit it or not we’re the better team so we will keep winning and let you have your wish with the Flyers, we have a new coach and a lot of young players and we are finally beginning to hit our stride.

Wings just threw the season. Doesn't matter if they win the rest of their games. They're not reliable to win in the playoffs. And Stevie Y needs to think this over. The Wings need that mentality from the 1990s- early 2000s if they want to be a winning club.
Great, all they have to do is find Yzerman, Lidstrom and Fedorov replacements.

Ну и Ларкин вовремя вернулся. Так что надежда на попадание в плей-офф остается. Сейчас впереди серия трудных игр с сильными Каролиной, Флоридой, Тампой, Рейнджерс, а потом снова игра с Вашингтоном. В этих 5 играх надо набирать хотя бы 6-7 очков, чтобы не выпадать из гонки за плей-офф.
The wings aren't trying to make the playoffs,as I recall Tampa bay went through the same exact thing when yzerman was there once he got the right pieces built around stamkos they became serious contenders and won the cup the next 3 years !!!!!! This Red Wings squad is just not a playoff team, and won’t be for a long time. Lost points to bottom feeders, and barely beat other bottom feeders. Husso blowing too many games at the start of the year, poor coaching, non-existent defence and building a team around a 2nd-line centre killed them.

The Wings don't deserve to be in the playoffs, but if they are lucky enough to make it, they won't go far. Their opponent will come in and dominate them physically. When I was at Gordie Howe's hockey school, one of his assistants was Bryan Watson. He wasn't even a Red Wing then, but he had made a name for himself at an earlier time with the Wings by shadowing Bobby Hull during the '66 playoffs, being a superpest. The Wings don't have those types of players on the roster, and the Wings haven't really adequately replaced Bertuzzi at this time. Soderblom's development is obviously behind or he'd be here by now. He was supposed to be a dominating presence in front of the net. I don't believe in this team's roster: there are some decent scorers, but it's not really a complete team.

Husso "blow" those games because defence of this team was trash the whole autumn. No goaltender would have survived that. Recently defence has shown to be bit better so therefore Lyon has been able to hold in some games. But this constant pressure towards goaltenders is just so f funny when whole team was absolutely clueless for basics of defence in whole autumn.
Absolutely hate the way this red wings team is built. You’d think Yzerman would’ve done a better job after what he did in Tampa. Defense is garbage. Signing Copp and Compher to 5 year deals was stupid.
