And the French really gives it so much more character- would love both- but if only one I'd go for the French because the magic of the words brings the world to life so beautifully. For the impatient, the walkthrough starts a little bit after 11:00. The white and red dragons on the Tower card are so apt! For those unfamiliar with Arthurian lore, King Vortigern was trying to build a castle, but the stones kept being tumbled down. Vortigern consulted his advisers, who told him to sacrifice Merlin, who was said to have no natural father. But Merlin instead said "There's a spring beneath the hill you're trying to build on, and a white and red dragon are constantly fighting in that spring. Dig down and you'll see." The white dragon represented the Saxons and the red dragon represented Vortigern's people (Wales). Vortigern had his people dig up the spring, which freed the dragons, and then he built his castle. Also, Justice is traditionally 8 and Strength is 11; that order was swapped in the RWS deck. I'm not a betting woman, but if I were, I would be willing to bet the two people on the Lovers card are Guinevere and Lancelot, who were lovers while Guinevere was married to King Arthur. As Malory said, "Sir Launcelot went unto bed with the queen..." The Lovers card representing lovers is a newer take on the card; traditionally it meant choices, and that is how I usually interpret it. 10 of swords is almost certainly King Arthur after he was betrayed and fatally wounded by his son Mordred.

When I first saw this advertised on Chris' channel I thought do we need another Arthurian tarot deck but the answer was an emphatic yes when I saw these beautiful and poignant images...seldom purchase new decks nowadays but this one is special...

The lovers card I believe is possibly gueinevre with Lancelot..as of course she had a love affair with Lancelot.. The emperor is King Arthur, the empress is Guenivere..and the Heirophant being Merlin I believe. Lovely deck. ❤
The Tarot of the Abyss is virtually my Soul Deck, so to wait in hope for an English version to have all the wonderful information in the book is horribly hard, but wait I must. Oh Simon, maybe you can use your influence to make this happen!

Merlin is featured on the Fool card, the Heirophant, the Hermit, Temperence (which I adore) & he is on some others too. Such a glorious deck Simon. I have not stopped staring at each card & working out who each person is. All the courts are families of the main characters, Soo beautiful. It's my perfect deck :) 💜

Yes, it's a beautiful deck, but for me too, I would want it in an English version. It is a legend set in England, so it wouldn't make sense not to produce one in English! Thanks for the walk through Simon.

If you had to make a choice…Le Tarot Arthurien or Tarot of the Echoes? Omg don’t know! I prefer the Arthurien because of the book but the Echoes is more intuitive in my opinion. Both are wonderful and peace of heaven anyway!

Does any body know how to get ahold of this in the US? Very few decks anymore do I feel like I just have to have. Ana Tourian and Arthurian Legend may be the best match up in the history of tarot since Pamela Coleman Smith and Arthur E. Waite. I want this deck beyond my capacity to explain.
