Thanks so much for the feature, really excited to see how you take it on! If I'd known this one would show up here, I probably would've put more thought into the name 😁(for anyone who's curious, it's sort of wordplay if you speak Spanish, but even then I don't know that it really works)
I'd like to mention, as I try to do when given the chance, that I publish five puzzles every week at Artisanal Sudoku (can't post a link, but it's not hard to find)-three for everyone, and two for paid subscribers, and I try to keep them fairly approachable. Thanks!

Also Simon: Concludes the black dot in box 8 is a 48 pair, then completely ignores the 4 at R9C1, AND the blue (3 or 8 ) at R2C5.
    God bless you Simon!

Thanks Simon for teaching me life skills with your puzzle solving.

  • @chocolateboy300
    @chocolateboy300 Před měsícem

I finished in 102 minutes. This puzzle is incredible. I thought it was going to be a simple math trick by adding all the boxes, then the 11 cages to minmax, however it came to 19 which wasn't either. I, then realized that in each box along the blue line, there must be a set of each 11 total, limiting the row 8 and column 2 11 cages to add up to 11 on their outside the box cells, meaning they were identical. This gave such a cool logic of r3c5 having to be the exact same number as r1c8 or r2c9 with 1. This led to some crazy logic where I could now start coloring the cages and limiting them. It took me a while, but I colored everything and the moment I saw that the row 5 cage I was trying the whole time to figure out was a 29, I yelped. Incredible! The puzzle practically finished itself from there. I never felt lost in this puzzle. I felt like I was working the whole time and loving it. Great Puzzle!

The way I figured out the two 11-cages peeking into cell 7 are of the same flavour, was to compare the sum of the cages overlapping cells 3,5,7 with the diagonal (45) to the total of the three cells - that was how I started the puzzle. Once I learned a bit about the content of cell 3, and given the content of the 10-cage, I could write R35+R62+R84=10+R18+R29. Noticing that R18,R29 are 1 and R35 implies that R62+R84=11. Ta-da!

think the simple way at 36:15 is that the top 3 cells in box 4 simply can't be double blue cause they're looking at a blue cage. So you need to put double purple in those cells wich makes the cage in box 4 blue.

At 30:35, the 11 cage in box 4 cannot be purple because then there is not enough room in row 4 for purple.

36:23 I'd argue the simple way of seeing this is to ask the question can R4C1-R4C3. The other color of the blue/purple cage in box 4 has to go somewhere in box 4. After you determined R6C1 is yellow only R4 is left. And the moment you place a blue domino in R4C1-R4C3 R4C4 has no value. So The 11cage must be blue and R4C1-C3 is purple &1.

regarding the colours used (as a colorblind person), usually the blue and purple are difficult to tell apart, and the yellow and green (if these are all from the same "group" of colours on Svens sudokupad, the lights ones, which for me are the first option in the sudokupad)

to be clear, no issues in this video although the purple and blue are similar, it depends on the shades used

Regarding starting in the bottom left. I think you missed the fact that purple, blue, and green were all required to be 3 different variations of the 11 cage. You mentioned that there was another “hidden” 11 cage on the diagonal but didn’t fully appreciate those implications. Because there are only 4 variations the 2 other (yellow) 11 cages are required to be the same.

There's four ways of making 11 in two cells (none uses a 1). The geometry allows you to distinguish the four elevens. The dots then allow you to disambiguate them. Completed in 19m46s.

32:30 This took me a few hours, including stupidly breaking the puzzle twice. I also needed a couple hints from the video. This point in the grid, consider block 4's purple-blue cage. If that cage is purple, where do the two purple cells go in row 4?

I've noticed that in this puzzle and others, sometimes a colour make a digt difficult to see, as 4 was in r9c1. I don't know if Sven could do ut, but if the software could change the colour of a digit to contrast with the box coliur, it might help.

So I wonder, is there a book or a workbook that you might recommend that I could learn or it could steer my thinking in the right direction?
    Thanks

Sorry not a comment about the puzzle (which was magnificent and took me almost two hours to solve...): in at least the last couple of days there is a low sound mixed in with the audio, feels like a distant alarm, beeping at about 88-90 bpm. Probably 90% of people don't hear it, depending on the quality of their audio system (I can hear it from the speakers attached to my TV, but not from my computer), but it drives me bonkers.....😶
I'm sure it comes from Simon's videos as it stops if I pause the video and it's not on anything else I listen to, CZcams or not... not sure if you can do anything about it. xoxo

Simon, for a while now I have been genuinely flustered by your refusal to go thru pencil marking, follow thru on a logic or scan for sudoku.
I come to this site to learn techniques and use them in future solves ... And while i enjoy genuine genius moments in the break ins etc, it is quite painful experience to watch you make a dediction in a round about manner bcos the answer is quite literally staring at you....
Today for eg .. if C3 box 4 11 cage had been purple, we would have needed 2 pink digits in Box 6 R4
Similarly you pencil mark 48 on a kropki dot which resolves the 38 and 47 in Box 3 and 5... Snd the 4 in C1 resolves the kropki pair... Which gives you the blue and green digits... The 9 found in minute 2 hrlps with yellow domino...
Its not pleasant to simply see you find roundabout logic and my concern it is happening with most puzzles in the week... Not sure if it is concerning to you or could you change your solving style to incorprate the micro with the macro?
