this is one of the most complete and amazing sounding exercises I have found on CZcams
Agreed. Its fantastic.
OK now for real: You teach the way one is expected to be taught at Berklee, G.I.T. or Juilliard. By that i mean i feel like i get the opportunity to be there and being allowed to catch up with what was never possible for me. Studying Jazz Concepts presented in a fun, educational and especially understandable way. Eternal gratitude. You are a phenomenal teacher. Greetings from Germany, Chris
You hit a perfect spot between entertaining and pedagogical with these improvisation videos. I can't stress how much I've learned from your system; but not only that -- I feel very inspired to play and keep practicing with your videos, thank you!
I know! I just want to go pick up my instrument now!
I agree 100%. I am salivating here, guitar in hand. Thank you!
Well done. Great tune, great descript, and simple mapping true to Hancock colorings
Solid stuff as always Nick!! 👍
thanks Jens!
instablaster.
the quickest easiest cure for scalitis that simultaneously brings depth to scale knowledge, awesomely done as usual.
I always come back to this 👍
Just about the best jazz improv lesson ever! Haha, the editing is on point, man... The material is solid as well. New fan!
I've been taught triad pairs before, and what you've done is take an exercise and make it into music. I've been working on this for a month, and continue to find incredible value each time I work on it. In my sextet, we just started working on Tom Harrell's "Terrestris" which is ... triad pairs! Glorious triad pairs! I have this sudden and immediate insight into a tune I just discovered. My musical skill has taken a huge leap because of this inspiring teaching you created - THANK YOU!
Why thank you Jazz Duets. You're a gentleman and a scholar.
Bro this video is pure gold
The only educational video where you dance while you learn. The group of 5 in 16th and triplet are sooo groovy.
Thanks !
With this one video I've absorbed so much more information on how to create interesting lines on my sax, my keyboard and marimba solos! The way you express the emotional component and how it relates to the specific triad pairs and rhythmic combinations makes so much sense to me, I feel like it's starting to open the door to the next level of jazz improvisation understanding for me! Instantly subscribed!
This is one the best lesson (if it s not the best)” about something” in you tube universe.
Deep respect Nick!
Mindblowing yet so simple stated. The explanation itself is art. Congratulations!
One of my favorite standards! Thanks for this!
You are by far my favourite jazz teacher.

Just fantastic! Grande Nick
Extremely instructive and enjoyable! Well done!!
Really knocks me off! Far away from my skills, full of wonder and promises - keeps me exploring these dimensons. Thx.

The best jazz teacher!
Lovely, lovely sounds!
Just amazing teaching, amazing approaches and amazing everything!
This is awesome, well executed. Once in a while I come back to one of your exercises that I LOVE to practice , the harmonization of major and three minors diatonicly using I IV V. Thanx Nick, thank you man.
I absolutely love this! As a classical trained musician, I have no Idea how to improvise. Thank you so much for showing the sheet music in your video (and for download)! This is exactly what I was looking for!
an amazing display of knowledge
Amazing work, well done. I just bought the product. Doing triad pairs and lines over various standards, going outside, etc would be something else I would buy.

Thank you!! You're an amazing teacher.
This is brilliant, Nick!! Your method is both fun and effective. Keep up the wonderful work.
I would love to see you make a video on simple ideas to play "outside" for short phrases using arpeggios (dominants and/or diminished). This has always challenged me. I hear beautiful passages in lots of music where the soloist steps outside on an arpeggio and it sounds awesome!
The best!! Greetz from Sweden.
Wonderful! Thanks
