Unless the horse is bleeding or he gets two refusals they can’t disqualify him as far as I know. The FEI rules say that because they can’t allow biased judgement to affect the sport. There is always one guy in the warm up telling people to calm down if they get mad with their horse but they can’t really do more than that on their own unless there’s blood visible. I suppose whoever made these rules assumed that horrible people like this don’t make it this far.

After having seen more equestrian videos on CZcams, I realized just how awful my old riding school from childhood was. The teachers were impatient, they didn't think about the discomfort of the horses, and that insisted on the riders having way too much control over the horses. Hard kicks, whips (I used one and I regret it), and a lot of the horses were in open back stalls (yes the kind where a horse can openly kick someone if spooked)
I've learned more about horses from CZcams than I did at that school

Sorry for replying to a 3 year old comment with no recent replies but
As a 14-year-old I had an internship at a large boarding barn (90-95 horses) and the first thing the owner did, was literally beat a horse in front of me. The horse actually reared up and broke down the wooden paneling that made up the round pen. She caught it on camera, too, so there’s proof of this somewhere.

My first mare was severely abused by her previous trainer and owners, she panicked completely at even the smallest cross, bolting to it, and getting incredibly stressed. I refused to jump her for over 4 months because of how much strain it put on her, and she really did improve with just the groundwork and really basic dressage that we did with her, but the emotional scars of how she was taught/forced to jump never went away, unfortunately she suddenly died of colic after being in my care for under 6 months. So anytime I see a horse clearly being forced to jump and severely mistreated it boils my blood that some people can treat a living, feeling, caring animal in such a way. That first guy is absolutely vile

I've seen green horses be over dramatic when they spook at something. In this case I really think that the horse shied away and because the guy was kind of unbalanced, he dug his seat bones into the horses back. I think that made the horse panick and fling the rider off. I don't really think that the rider was trying to go too fast as much as he was trying to introduce the horse to a horse show.

    • @ChibiChunks
      @ChibiChunks Před 4 lety +6

I agree. I started a green horse when I was just really moving up in the riding world and becoming more confident. He would bow out of jumps exactly like this. The horse was telling the rider that he wasn't going for the jump a few strides out, and the riders unbalanced posture just solidified it. But the rider was still thinking the horse was going to go over anyway (a simple disconnect in communication between horse and rider). The horse followed through on backing out, causing the rider to totally lose his balance. This caused him to catch the horse in the mouth and get thrown back. He then pulled even harder on the mouth and looks like he may have kicked the horse in the face/head. The combo of pain and the sudden leg in his face spooked him more and made him fling the rider down. Because the rider was so off balance, he got catapulted to the ground. I think it's more the rider's fault since he should be in tune with his horse before asking for things like this, but it mainly seems to be a misunderstanding between the two overall. It happens. Live and learn. Hopefully neither were hurt too badly.

I own a miniature horse. He was about 11 months when we bought him. Everytime I would go into his paddock he would rear and attack and basically why is because his previous owners put him in a pasture somewhere and didn't do anything with him. He was 11 months old and he had barely seen a human at all. But I stayed patient and worked with him and now he's the sweetest thing ever. You can cuddle with him, do groundwork with him. Eerytime he sees me or my parents he will neigh and call for us. When I go to his paddock he comes to me and I'm honestly so happy that we bought him even though he was more than a hand full in the beginning. He just needed a chance.

My horse was abused when he was young, and we got him on the way to the slaughter house, but he is such a great jumper, but we don’t show him because he broke a girls arm one time because the people scared him, and he has terrible trust issues, and it’s honestly so sad to watch a horse that great not be able to compete, because we know he’d do great in jumping, but we are starting to let him tag along to shows just to see that it’s ok and that he’s safe, and so we might do a small show next year if he feels comfortable. Don’t know why I said that but🤷‍♀️

Bernhard Maier was rightfully suspended for 5 years for his horrible treatment of that horse, however due to the avalanche of negative comments he received, including many death threats he took his life in November 2018. This is why we all need to think carefully of how we phrase critique, even when the critique is justified. Is it a good idea to use a video of a man who took his life not too long ago for a reaction video? Imo no.

Don't take that away from him by claiming his death was due to backlash. His death is a result of him choosing to die. He is the one responsible for that. It is on nobody but him. Okay, I’ve been training a horse named Justin at my barn. I walk over jumps with him until he’s comfortable with them. You don’t beat a horse over a jump, then they’re afraid to jump, because that means getting hurt in some way shape or form. You have to give the horse many chances and be patient with them instead of being violent towards them. Violence is not a training method, it’s an abuse method

Once my horse refused a jump and instead of punishing it or getting Angry I praised and pet it and said: " It´s okay, u did well." And my lesson instructor was like: "Why are u praising him after doing smth wrong?" Well because I thought it was my fault that he refused and even if not he should know I am not mad at him. But back then i was way younger and shy because she was a quite dominant and strict person so i didn´t say anything. My riding instructor was not the worst but she was from the older Generation where it was still a common meathod to use physical punishment to get a horse to do smth. It´s really sad. Btw I am not taking her lessons anymore. I moved a few years ago because I couldn´t stay there anymore. the atmospgere at her barn was just awful.

Horses are extremely smart, beautiful and gentle animals. Also are the perfect therapy animal for individuals like myself with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), severe anxiety!
What I don't understand and absolutely hate is that who in the name of excessive cloud to ground thunder and lightning would think eating horses as a delicacy or tradition?!?
Especially the horse meat industry! HATE THEM!
Whenever I ride on Highway 401 (aka highway of heroes) or wait for public transit in Southern Ontario and see horse slaughter trucks... yesterday I saw 6 (I hate number 6 & 666) of them passing by heading eastward and my Tourette's was escalating because of that! I shouted out "Horse Terrorists are F**ktarded shits!!!" And other savage roasting insults! One of the drivers looked at me and gave him the two middle fingers in the air! I got away with it since I do have Tourette's Syndrome which is a minor case, I can't control it! 😈
Didn't get into trouble at all! Woo hoo! 😄
Imagine myself at a protest at horse slaughter house and my TS was escalating rapidly... it isn't my problem! Hahaha! I have no control over it and if the employees or owners of that horse slaughter house don't like it, that's 100% their problem! 😈
This was a great video and I have seen your other videos of you judging abusers, etc... dropping profanity towards them makes it even way better!
    Keep up the good work!

Speaking of horses flipping. There’s a dumbass trainer in my area who was “training” a horse and had him tied up in “tack” (surcingle and side reins with all the extra straps and shit to “make” him listen) Anyway, the horse was terrified, flipped, and cracked his skull open. She did NOT call the vet, let him bleed out saying it was a waste of money to put him down peacefully. She wouldn’t even allow people to get him free of the tack cuz it was “too expensive to risk breaking” ...... yep.... And then, after all of this, she dumped his body in a back pasture.
