You talk about ( mabey not is this video) horse medicine when you talk about veterinary school. Are we not supposed to learn about horse health? Holistic health? I have no idea how it is in America but here in holland it is al about big money/big pharma in vet school :(. The good horse people will find there one way in this health care ( holistic) and the vet is sometimes nessery.

The only thing that could MAYBE make the leg thing a LITTLE better is if the legs were being made into fleshy prosthetics for other animals that needed them. Still ick, but that would be slightly less.

I never understood why people did this. When I was taking lessons.. back in the mid 80s, why my horse trainer, when we were out screwing around in the wooded trails, she was teaching her horse to rear up. It was silly. I kept wishing she'd fall off. 😂

Clicked on this because I saw the thumbnail and immediately went “oh boy that looks like Cali”. I went on horseback riding for the first time in years for my mom’s birthday, we thankfully didn’t go to this place but the place we did go to was very strange. For some reason they gave me, knowing I was an inexperienced rider (hadn’t been on a horse since I was in middle school, and even then it was my friend’s horse), gave me the most energetic horse. My mom got the laidback Shire, so laidback that it kept stopping to eat. Meanwhile my horse kept wanting to full on sprint away and go down the hill. The guy that was leading the trail was far behind us watching soap operas. He wasn’t paying attention in the slightest. Not to mention, they kept the horses in the tiniest pen I’ve ever seen, out in the summer heat. Some of the horses looked so miserable, there was about 10 kept in a pen that even so would feel claustrophobic being in. While I would love to go riding again, I am not going to a facility. I would gladly spend time getting to know a horse and the place it resides at so I could know that the horse is perfectly fine and healthy.

I don’t agree all saddle seaters are abusive a lot are but I’ve met a couple who take there horses health very seriously some saddlebreds are born with those gaits the saddlebred cobalts out in the pastures at my stable are bred for the fancy gaits no hate all equestrian disciplines have a dark side but just wanted to clarify that not all saddle seaters are abusive no hate btw

The only reason humans can dance is because our leg structure is very unique and even then if you slam your legs on the ground like thar for a minute it's going to start hurting quick. Horses do not understand the finesse needed for complex movements like that it's just not in their nature

I’ve seen many saddle seaters do the right thing to there horse in order to show them there’s always bad but not all saddle seaters are abusive according to you all horse disciplines are abusive it makes no sense

I guess as someone not familiar with Equestrianism or taking care of horses in any way, I had no idea how dangerous this sort of thing was for the animal nor any of the reasons why a broken or damaged leg as a horse is so life-ending. Had a little girl at my barn who was riding in jumping competitions. According to her mom she often won as well. While we were on a trail ride, we weren't even able to trot because the little girl wasn't able to keep her balance and was scared. It's so bizarre to me that she never took proper training.

This is heartbreaking. My mother euthanized my dog when I was 14 because she was moving in with her boyfriend and he didn't like dogs. She did it while I was at school and didn't tell me until I got home, she (my mother) has been dead for 17 years and I am still angry at her for it. The vet just did it, and I always thought it was so wrong how he didn't even question it. Im happy to know vets today do better.
