I think the sparking battery leads directly beside an open bucket full of brake clean is the sketchiest thing they've done so far 😂
The safety police just shat themselves seeing that.
Only in Florida
when they filled the mustang up with gas instead of oil next to their fueling station at the FF was a bit more sketchy in my opinion. this was a close second tho
No, the time they filled up that car with gas instead of oil and left it parked next to the pump and tank was beyond sketch and full blown ludicrous. This would have flashed and been out pretty quick. That tank of gasoline would have left a crater the size of his house
For sure! Kept thinking, well they must have survived since the video is posted lol.
These McFarland Science videos are what brought me to this channel and I love when a new one comes out. I laughed out loud at “I tried to find the stoichiometric ratio for brake clean but couldn’t find anything”…
Don't give them a massage, heard that he likes to be tense, doesn't really want a masseuse in his life.
@@andrewmcmillions3138 you alright? You stroked out there for a second.
Toluene and diesel is what ran on their turbo F1 cars on in the 80s.
Toluene for the octane and bang and diesel for a longer burn time on the power stroke.
I genuinely love this type of video, it reminds me of the good old days of Cooper and Cleet with the C7 doing turbo exhaust whistle tomfoolery. Same energy here with all the guys just having a great time, James with the chef coat and bike helmet, Nate with the stethoscope. Guys being dudes. I love it!
Everyone knows you need a 50/50 mix of brake clean and octane booster to make some real power.
fr ffs 😂😂
🤣
That's what I was thinking during the video lol
Hair spray.
@@michaelscott-joynt3215 With that crew who would have hair spray?
My vote is to test pure fuel stabilizer or maybe even pure octane booster!
Remember when project farm used to make this type of videos, but instead of cars, he tested it on lawnmower engines lol.
@@eljaibas16 love me some Project Farm. He's cost me a fair bit of money. Lol.. in the best way possible. He's test/reviews are hella good sell ads. Lol
Make this get the likes people!
Inject oxygen-acetylene mixture.
I remember seeing a video of someone running everclear in a mower. It ran really well!
I love how james is in a chef outfit instead of a doctor's outfit hahaha. chef spray em all. cooking pistons since 2022
Hahahaha oh man I never noticed that 😂
Dr. Tuna Mall and Chef Spray 'Em All lol😀
@@AB-80X hell yeah butter!
I suggested CHEF SAUCE IT ALL
I was gonna say the same thing!! Chef Jimmy!
Garrett is one of those guys that you can just tell is a genuine good dude. And with that he attracts equally good dudes. This McFarland empire has been awesome to watch grow. I look foward to the future, and I wish momma Madi the upmost luck coming up!!! Way to go mom and dad
I can only imagine how intense the smell of all that brake clean lol
They were all feeling good that day😂
You should retry a HP pull with the original octane fuel after the brake clean to see if it cleaned the injectors and created better atomization of fuel, to get more HPs!!
The old Italian tune up
McFarland Science labs never fails to make it interesting
Dudes gonna kill one of his employees for a video. Really interesting lol.
I wonder how many laps a ranger would go with just 2stroke gas
Instead of motor oil they should use Dang sauce
What do you think of the idea of running the truck on pump gas and shooting break clean as a nitrous for a dyno pull. Effective or nah?
Colman camping lantern fuel, I've always heard of your camping and bust gas tank and need to get out of the woods you can use the Colman fuel in a can to drive out.
Once ran a 1998 Ford explorder 2.5 miles on brake cleaner to get to my boys house when his fuel pump went out. I sat on the radiator support while he drove about 10 mph. Full break clean injected through the throttle body did the trick. Replaced the fuel pump, truck ran for years to come.
I'd love to see how it runs on nothing but octane booster
I'm pretty sure that's straight toluene or close to it, lol.
It will burn the valves up
Check out "Novice Garage" they did that on a mazda miata
Moonshine, drink it and run on it. See what gets lit up 1st!
It doesn't run at all
I love that they sell liquid brake clean in like gallon containers but you opted for the aerosol cans
I was gonna say too, they could save hella money buying a drum of brake clean and getting pump up sprayers
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA yeah!
The hicks are not the mostest cleverest lights in the tool shed.
Here I was picturing a race gas can size gallon of brake clean. But nope. The other way I guess. 😂
It's all getting written off for the buisness anyways
My son had an old homebuilt go cart with a well worn Briggs & Stratton engine. He used brake kleen to fire it up all the time. Right until he seized it up while on startup! I'm sure he was being REALLY generous with his sprays though. Scarred the crap out of the cylinder wall and snapped the flywheel shear key when it locked up. Good times....
You know you can buy gallon jugs of brake clean right? 😂😂
Sam takes one day off and this is what happens!! “Let’s see how close we can get to blowing ourselves up.” I love it when the labs coats come out.
When the lab coats come out so should the fire extinguishers.
Custom firesuits with lab coat graphics should be on order for their next one.
I would love to see how a propane conversion would hold up to a race track. There are lots of propane conversions out there, but how would it hold up to the McFarland Science team stress test.
Thats a whole lot of work. I’ve seen a ton of mud trucks running propane so it should hold up just fine because nobody beats on a motor like a mudder
propane has a high "octane" rating 105-110ish. so i think this would be a good science vid for sure.
boom
there are a ton of cars in AU that had LPG
Propane is a great fuel for internal combustion engines. Only real problem is that it has way less energy per given unit of volume than gasoline. And unlike methanol it does not have the same cooling effect. I've seen 10 sec drag cars on propane in the past. This has not really been a thing lately but sure, I wouldn't mind seeing some testing done and a Mcfarland science test.
They could use the Shyster for this. It's got a GM 4.3 V6 so if it blows up there are 10 million more out there
Love the new Drs, and Drs in training. Great content.
These videos make me smile and laugh so much. Love when they pop up.
I love that Jackstand is wearing a chef’s coat rather than a lab coat.
😂😂
Jackstand is always trying to cook an engine, that's why he is wearing the chef's attire, what will he cook up next
Dr Tunemall is as well, but because he’s got small metal poppers it’s not as obvious 😂
Because they were “COOKING” up some mischief 😌
His vid next week : why my hands are shaking so bad (brake clean)
You guys should have checked the carbon in the cylinders before and after the pulls. I'll bet it's cleaner.
I love this channel it always puts me in a good mood
Hell yeah brother........ Special thanks to cleetus........👏🙌 Too good 😊😊🤠🤠🇺🇸🇺🇸🤘🏻🤘🏻🆒🆒
Add a bit of 2 cycle oil to it to prevent spark knock. My first SBC was 11.5 to 1 and I had to run 93 with octane booster or it would foul plugs. I figured out 2 cycle oil works wonders to raise octane
I'm curious to see how clean the inside of that engine is now and what the oil is looking like.
Let’s Talk 🎁🎁⬆️
The oil would look fine. All of the brake cleaner was igniting (prematurely); it wouldn’t have had a chance to mix.
Probably still cleaned the valves and maybe made holes in the pistons
One word.....nitro
Try running slick 50 or some sort only without motor oil....your engine builder will thank you!!!!!
That fact that James is wearing a chef coat is killing me haha
You noticed that too huh.
Yeah, he was serving up nitrous for
lunch. Or is that LAUNCH. 😂
Cooking up some pistons with burnt straps on the side.
You know I've been waiting for a video like this
I love all the science videos!
Glad to see the science lab getting back to answering the questions we’ve all been too sober to ask out loud.
U think they smokin?
You can tell every one of them had been hurt by the brake clean before, you can see fears in their eyes when they look at that bucket lol
Oooh laughed out a few tears, man I've missed the science videos. For some reason seeing georges shorts when he pet the marlin reminded me of like a weather man exposed without pants lol. You guys are having a great time making this too obviously 😆 good times. I always comment how I love James content too. Rough day today, anniversary of losing someone important, thank you for the laughs.
This was the best science episode IMO.
👍🏼
They do make reusable break clean sprayers where you just buy the fluid, put it in the container, then pressurize it with an air compressor, which might be a more cost effective and less wasteful option. Also might save a few brain cells lol
I was definitely yelling at the screen that you can buy this stuff by the gallon!
Yep, same here 😂
yep i buy it by the 5L container (its the UK, no gallons here!) id be bankrupt if i used aerosols.
I was hoping there was plenty ventilation near the bucket where all that butane propellant was flying out lol.
Zippo lighter fluid
Everyone patiently waiting for Leroy’s dyno video, meanwhile in Florida…
this is more fun
This actually happened a while ago because the bedsides of the truck were still in good shape and if you remember I think it was the last video they put that Ford Ranger on there yeah when I saw Cleetus hit the phone screen I was thinking Leroy Dyno video but this will do
I am actually impatiently waiting for more Leroy updates.
I’m getting Leroy withdrawal. I’m starting to twitch and stuff. Lol😆
Moonshine brother whole lotta eagles in that!!!
I F**ing LOVE when the sciencist coats come out!! Hell yeah!!! So good
Funny there was a time that the LS in this old truck would of been Rubys next engine lol
Would be cool to see what would have happened if you added some octane booster into the brake clean and sent it :D
It would be fun to die from the motor blowing up in all our faces🤣🙈😳🥵
Sander, I was really hoping they would do that actually. And yes Caraballo it would be really fun to see that motor blow up, right in ya face
I was thinking throwing a few cups of diesel and see what happens
@@luckyrashes Well shit. at this point let's just throw a flaming bucket of grenades on it.
@@luckyrashes exactly! I was thinking 50% 93 octane and 50% diesel. 👍
Was going to say. Brake Clean is the #1 most useful tool in any garage.

George should get a honorary doctorate of wheelieology.
@oh no he didnt!
Cleetus pays his guys well and doesn’t expect a lot of hard physical labor out of George lol
Doctorate? George? he’s more of an honorary recipient of an Associate Degree in General Studies from Manatee County Community College type of guy. Go Manatees!
I have always wondered what would happen if you spray medical oxygen with regular gas and maybe some nos as well. Would it mean more power with less fuel. Could also use it in higher elevation and duplicate sea level atmosphere or better. I could be wrong but makes sense logically!
@oh no he didnt! Helps keep the front end down.
Dr. Flip'emall?
4:10 The high from all those brake clean being sprayed must've been crazy lmao
This is actually awesome brake cleaner that I've used 1000's of cans of and I'm glad this video has happened!
Eagerly awaiting the next Leroy video ⏰
You should try to run an engine upside down
It won't work bc all the oil will pour out
Isn't that what they are doing with KillaB?
@@Skwisgar2322 it took me a minute to get this 😂😂
I wrecked a V6 firebird that ran upside down for 20 minutes at idle before dying. it was a smoke show .
George already tried that
Cleetus I would love some more of these science channel videos. Also you should compile them in a playlist.
I miss these kind of videos.
Classy content as always!!! I have the same little turbo keychain as George!!!!😂😂😂
You guys should try adding like a gallon of octane booster to the brake clean.
Run it on just octane booster
Y'all have made it big and still just messin around and having fun. Love it
Anybody else notice that old Jackstand has on a chef's coat and not a lab coat hahaha. Love it!
Crap, shoulda read the comments. @jlush444 beat me to it lmao.
Jackstand, muggin' in that chefs coat... Priceless. 😆🤣😂
That spark knock was evil. 😂 Also FYI. The non flammable version of Brakleen is the best bug killer you can find.
My shop uses the best flammable brake clean you can get and we will wasps and anything else that comes in😂 granted we use some fire sometimes😳
As a bug killer eh?! Interesting...
last summer I got a huge bee in my car and I just sprayed it to my rear window with WD40 :D it was all i had close to my hand to kill it, success tho :)
and we've been flamin' bugs with real bräkleen in finland for decades ;) bräkleen is our invention, we know how to use it! >:)
It's also the best fabric cleaner you'll ever use..ever wonder why the good stuff (non-flammable, carcinogenic, chlorinated brake clean) smells like an old school dry cleaners from pre-1990s?
It ain't a coincidence..
Had a ball point pen explode in the pocket of a white uniform shirt when I was working for NAPA in the early eighties, chlorinated brake clean took every last bit of the ink out, no stain, no mess..
Stuff works a treat on car interior stains..
The flammable shite is useless. As one would expect from a "safe" nanny-state mandated version of a product.
😁
I haven’t even made it more than 4 mins into the video and already can’t wait to see how this goes!!! GO SCIENCE!! 😂
it was the flame thrower that did it for me too haha
Top grade science youtube right here.
That bit with the sparking power connection next to a bucket of brake cleaner is the sketchiest thing I've ever seen in a shop.
That’s awesome you guys a crazy keep killing it. Just giver🤟
4:12 How did Cleet and James NOT get a headache huffing that much brake fluid?!?!?!?!

They must be professionals
science
Yeah that was a real Bevis and Butthead moment right there.
That was nitrous...
I'd love to see you try WD-40. I've run a 5hp briggs on it briefly... would be fun to see what it does in a big engine.
I don’t think it ran on the WD40 but the flammable gas used as a propellant.
@@MOE-db8oc you can buy wd-40 in a gallon can.
@@Wulthrin
So what. I don’t think the poster was pouring WD40 from a gallon can into his B&S motor to get to run.
I have not tried wd40 by the gallon but I have started engines with the aerosol cans. I think we found the next science project
@@benjirevels7900
Exactly. You can get the same effect from a can of hair spray or even cooking oil spray. It’s not always the fluid being dispensed as much as it is the propellant.
Been curious how it would work on a full sized car engine. Seen it done on project farm with a lawn mower. But both gas and brake clean clean cylinder walls/metal
i drove so many times my old carburated shitbox, when i had no money for gas, with brakeclean, perfumes, pest control spay, lighter fluid... really just any stuff what burns that i could find, in the tank, with some wd-40 of course and that thing worked and still works perfect even to this day
"What is the stoichiometric ratio of aerosol brake cleaner?"
I'll take Questions No One Has Ever Asked for 1,000, Alex.
Pure acetone would be an interesting one I think or Kerosene. It love the experiments you guys are doing! Keep it up
(Edit: sorry never specified for it being a fuel replacement, it’s a possible engine oil replacement… also what about weird trans fluids? Like syrup vs Sunflower oil?)
Kerosene would be basically diesel wouldn't it?
@@aaronkratzmann9703 yes
Run the engine on high octane booster with kerosene in the oil pan
Kerosene is very low octane. Prolly worse than brake clean.
Try to run it on just octane booster. With the oil replaced with kerosene of course
Without even watching the video, I do this almost every day. Have a bunch of cars around that usually don't have a fuel system, or a messed up one. Fill the float bowl with brake clean and I can usually get around the building to the shop. I have also done this to cars with vapor lock issues. Although, horrendous spark knock on a hot engine.
I love the track on the begin!!
That seemed safe. LOL! James' enthusiasm to spray the nitrous had me dying
Let’s Talk🎁⬆️

100% agreed. George was behind the camera, so the enthusiasm came easy. …these guys with their antics. too dumb, too pointless, way too much fun.

The fumes must have been amazing.
You can literally buy brake cleaner in liquid form 👀
What do you think the word "literally" means?
@@mikescherrer4923
The adverb literally means "actually," and we use it when we want others to know we're serious, not exaggerating or being metaphorical.
What do you think it means?...
Why did you delete your comment? 👀
Almost wish you would've bore-scoped it before and after to see if this is a good way to de-carbon some pistons!
yea after that i'll bet there is not 1 piece of carbon anywhere in that engine and the fuel injectors are factory new clean
I’ll tell you right now, tip small amounts of distilled water into your throttle body while the engine is idling. Use enough so the engine coughs and farts but doesn’t stall, repeat a few times or until performance improves.
Basically steam cleaning your bores and valves so an oil change afterwards is probably not a bad idea.
Sickest intro yet cleet LMFAO 🤣🙌💯
I'm gonna need to see about two gallons of Everclear in that bucket real soon!
I think a m5 test would be cool. Also like a 70 % methanol 30% nitromethane mix would be cool if y’all could get the fuel system to support it
You should go for the 55 gallon drum of brake clean. It is expensive, but overall, way cheaper than many cans of brake clean.
Way better for the environment too vs using thousands of cans a year that go in the trash
I always thought it was just pressurized cans of acetone...would have been so much easier than holding down those tabs to spray out the bottles,.
@@calebrichter2565 acetone smells completely different

I think we should have a weekly science video! They defiantly are hilarious but you should do a myth buster video to see if whistling diesel is right or not on some of the testing he does.
I'll be honest, every time I watch a cleeter video I'm just happy the whole time. Best car channel on CZcams, you're killing it 👏

jackstand wearing a chef coat! i mean it fits, he is always trying to cook the engine! lolol
When I worked on boat engines we got one to run on jack daniels, lets see that in the LS
It’s because it’s probably corn based alcohol and some drag cars run on alcohol like hard liquor
Clear hard liquors tho
You can buy brake clean by the gallon/barrel and fill up pump pressurized spray bottles. Much cheaper than buying cans by the case load.
Too late!!
Yeah that was retarded
I think you should try diesel as the fuel and let Nate try to tune that. It would be very interesting to see.
Diesel won't light off in a low compression gasoline engine.
@@corvettejohn4507 that shouldn’t stop them from trying! If anything try it straight then add small amounts of gasoline until it does run!
@@german3579 I would say it having no chance of working is a good reason not to try.
The diesel would need to be heated way up before entering the fuel rails.
50/50 Gas and Diesel

This is the most random channel I’ve ever seen I love it
Anyone else get a little scared when James was flamethrowing that close to all those cans? Definitely a "Florida man" kind of video. Love it!
Based on the open leads next to the completely open bucket of brake clean...its nice to see that they've learned from previous fires.
Now this is a science class I can pay attention too 😂😂
I would love to see 1/2 brake clean and 1/2 ATF. With both being excellent cleaners, you should have sparkling clean combustion chambers!
1/2 brakleen and 1/2 diesel i wanna see.
that would be one smoky combination. I think it needs brake clean + octane booster. Lead supreme might work really well (tetraethyl lead)
@@srharris88 that's exactly what I was thinking that might get the octane up there so there's not as much spark knock maybe
The brake clean would just break down the ATF
Love this kind of science, more please! You really should be wearing your fire suits when performing experiments with fuel (with the lab coats over them of course), we want to see you guys be able to keep doing these if something went wrong

This was in a 1962 EK holden. Only 138ci 6 cylinder.
Motor similar to the early chev 6 cylinder of the time. Only smaller cubic inch. Be interested to see what meths does in the LS lol.
