The scene where Primal kills Airrazor really stuck to me. I've never seen a robot ape convey so much sorrow before. Dude, I was moved by a robot monkey. The animators did a really great job animating the robots' expressions

Which is ironic considering this was the same company that produced the vfx of the 2019 Lion King movie.

I think the cinematography, camera work, and set design in this was amazing and much better than anticipated. They filmed the transformers in a way that I’ve never seen on screen. For instance, in the beginning of the movie when we see Scourge emerging from the forest, that was actually a pretty terrifying way to introduce a villain. The imagery of that was really cool
They actually did a lot of fun work with the cinematography here now that you mention it. Lots of good extreme close ups, and for some reason that shot of the rubble going into the portal panning to Noah on Prime is one of my favorite shots in the film. Maybe it's cause a rendition of "Arrival to Earth" is playing, but the way that was done was really great.
The first is still better
But cgi transformations were really has. Look at 3rs movie Megatron transformations... How good it was.

Scourge walking in a forest dropping cliche one liners is somehow new and refreshing? Good cinemetography? It was the most bland and dull looking TF live action movie so far by a longshot too. Im at this point convinced you are a bot. The transformations themselves were weak asf in this movie. The only TF movie worse than this is TLK
I really loved what they did with OP in this movie. I feel like too often people forget Prime's a soldier. I know there are times where Optimus is gentle and kind yes, but not on a BATTLEFIELD and not in a WAR. A war mind you, he's been fighting for, for millennia. I liked the perspective they took with him on this movie; outwardly showing his pain and his concerns and his doubts and his rage was refreshing. It's why I really liked Age of Extinction. It was refreshing to see a more emotional Optimus.

@jesseouellet8496 maybe cause in the bayverse optimus openly trusted humanity and got betrayed for it by movie 4. In this continuity, he was distrustful and outright thought working with Noah would be a waste of time, and didn't seem all that impressed by us. He was more like ratchet from TF Prime than the Optimus we know. But I like that. Makes him fascinating
I just found it hard to believe that a giant robot gorilla that has to weigh like 4 tons at least is swinging from trees and branches like a normal gorilla… how strong are trees in Peru??
If they kept the intro where we see Optimus Prime just casually walking on top of dead decepticon corpses and parts would have been a chilling intro
As someone who suffers from sickle cell it warms my heart that they tried to get recognition for it in the movie. Even though its not completely right, its a step forward for this painful life threatening illness to be mainstream so we can have more treatments. I just wonder why they went with the whole effects the hands deal when it effects the whole body

Yet, the not GIJoe’s capture Transformers in previous movies, so it’s not a big leap to take. I just don’t care to see another Transformers movie, until we get a Cybertron, no humans story.
I mean, one would think that with the success of two Spider-Verse movies, along with critical praise, they’d realize it can be done, snd still make the money they want.
GI Joe and Transformers teamed up in the comics quite a bit in the ‘80s.

That surprise was indeed WHOOOA. I saw the fan screening and we went CRAZZZZY. Soundtrack was indeed dope, especially for someone like me who loves hip-op and the golden age of NY HH. They kinda flubbed with having Waterfalls (95) and Hypnotize (97) since it's a 94 movie...but those are minor nitpicks in an otherwise solid TF movie.
Yeah I noticed that too it’s funny cuz I’ve watched so many movies in my lifetime and plenty more to go I view movies now more in a directors pov than a regular movie watcher lol I can’t help it 🤷🏾♂️
I thought the reason for Bee’s return was perfectly set up. Energon exists on Earth, like in the G1 and in Beast Wars, but this stuff is inert until Scourge activates the Transwarp Key, which activates the Energon, which brings back Bee.
No Deus ex Machinas here. Just regular machinas. 😂
7.8/10 for me. Maybe it’s because my expectations for transformers films are low but damn this movie was GOOD, shallow plot, shallow depth to the characters but the characters are actually enjoyable, the action is fun, like it’s IP cartoon turn live adaptation franchise, it’s FUN. Happy watch tbh

Tbh, the comedy in this movie and the bumblebee movie was much better and much more comfortable than the bay films… like the only comedy in the bay films were just adult jokes… ALOT of adult jokes, so many too the point theres more adult jokes than actual big boi robot fighting in the bay films which probably explains alot of why transformers 2-5 sucked alot lol.
A really ballsy transformers movie would if they went straight avatar with it and have it take place on cybertron and have actors do mo-cap take how ever long you need to make the movie

I think the dump truck might be partially an illusion. There’s no way mirage is big enough to become the entire truck, but maybe the back part (aside from like the chassis and wheels) is all an illusion.
This was definitely my favorite Transformers movie purely because of soundtrack and comedy 🤣
Frl the soundtrack at the end was GOATED and the comedy was balanced and didnt make me want to walk out of the room unlike the OTHER movies… (Cough cough all bay movies other than 2007…)
Srsly though the comedy in all the bay films other than 2007 were just overdone and felt a bit disgusting, like just imagine your parents walking in at the exact moment on of those adult joke scenes were playing… id try hide myself lol.

Agreed that this is the second best Transformers film - if we’re counting Bumblebee. And the soundtrack is awesome! Took me back! And look, I won’t lie: This movie had me loudly representing Brooklyn a few times! 🤣🤣 Homegirl said she was from East New York! 🙌🏾 And Pete Davidson was pretty good too. Nah, I had fun with this one tho.

i’m sorry, but i miss the 2007 style. all these autobots look like they are from different movies. i’ve heard the argument about how the deceptions are all chrome monsters, but i felt like that was fine for no name bad guys for Optimus and the gang to turn to scrap. the maximals all look like they belong together, and i understand everyone LOVED the bumblebee movie and the design he got in it, and arcee looks to be in the same, cartoony, smoothed out style. then mirage looks up to par with what we’ve come to expect, but Optimus looks like he’s from a game, or the ‘war for cybertron’ 3D animated netflix series, which would be fine! just make them all look like they were made in the same style. this movie felt the most like a cash grab to me, i know the series has, since inception, existed to sell toys, but in Michael Bay’s first movie he brought horror, romance, drama, comedy and action in a way that franchise had never had in the big screen before. throw in a few huge sponsors and free machinery from the US military and you have a really good start to a universe. once Megan Fox left it began to unravel. every new movie since 2011 has strayed further and further from cohesive story, now we’re bringing in G.I. Joe? which is a mess of an ip as is. not to say i watched the older transformers movies for the plot, but 1-4 were definitely easier to shut your brain off to and enjoy.
