Rookie Arkansas State Police Trooper PITs reckless Volkswagen Jetta ending high speed pursuit

On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at about 3:20 am I was patrolling the area of Mara Lynn Rd and Green Mountain Dr when I
observed a red Volkswagen Jetta fail to stop at the intersection of Mara Lynn Rd and Green Mountain Dr.
I attempted to stop the vehicle at Green Mountain Dr and Ethan Allen Dr, the vehicle Came to a stop and then fled westbound
on Ethan Allen Dr. I initiated a pursuit that led to Hinson Rd where I conducted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI). The vehicle
was able to continue driving and drove eastbound on Hinson Rd, driving into oncoming lanes of traffic, blowing through multiple
intersections and reaching speeds of 95 mph. I conducted another TVI at the 200 block of Brookside Dr that ended the pursuit.
All occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody, the passengers, Jordan Oliver, and Cassi Parker were released without
incident. The driver, Rashod Pitman was taken to PCRJ where he was booked and charged with:
5-54-125 Fleeing (C-Felony).
27-50-302 Speeding,
27-51-601 Fail to Stop or Yield x5,
27-14-701 Owner Fail to Register,
27-16-602 No Drivers License,
27-22-104 No Insurance,
27-37-702 No Seatbelt, and
27-51-301 Driving Left of Center.
The vehicle was taken to Metro towing by Metro Wrecker Service. There was

Excellent FTO unlike that other video we all saw earlier! Calm & let the Rookie do what he needed to while respectfully supporting him. That is how it should be done!
The other video had civilians that needed to be avoided. The trooper did not want innocent civilians getting hurt, so the threat needed to be taking down immediately. In this video it’s 3 in the morning and the streets are clear.

If the title hadn’t indicated he was a rookie, I wouldn’t have had an a clue. As usual, car not registered, no license, probably no insurance. This is why everyone else has high premiums.
At this point I’ll just be happy if it was his own car. I hate when this shit happens with a stolen car and the owner gets back a wrecked or at the very least damaged vehicle.

Thank you for showing us these rookie PIT training sessions Police Pursuits. They show a natural hesitation of the rookie drivers to NOT want to hit another moving car. It's a natural hesitation that I don't see with the other ASP drivers. I'm guessing once the rookie ASP driver learns that the PIT is about ending the chase - which is in public safety's best interests, they over come that natural hesitation. Both rookie driver videos that I've seen so far have performed good PITs btw.
Not as easy as the veteran troopers make it look.
You would think the troopers would get some kind of training before being sent out on the highways and byways to chase and possibly PIT other vehicles.

I think some cars turn them on in an accident. I have seen a lot of crashes where the wipers turned on by themselves.

Maybe, but it happens so often it might be wired in so just after a crash the windshield is clear so the driver can stop the vehicle. It is all computer controlled now.@@bvward
