In this microphone reviews edition, (www.jameswedmore.com/choose-be..., we will take a closer look at FOUR of the most common microphone options you can use to record the audio in your videos. You'll hear the pro's and con's and my personal recommendations!
Having high-quality, CRYSTAL CLEAR audio is absolutely essential of you want BETTER videos.
If you use the onboard mic that comes with your camera, chances are you'll have pretty low-quality audio.
In this video, we'll show you how to use a wired lavalier, shotgun mic, and wireless lavalier.
How to be successful: www.jameswedmore.com/persisten...
In this video, I discuss the difference between the word "Persistence" and "Patience" on your journey to success.
Here's an excerpt...
What if I told you that some of the most COMMON advice given many experts, Successful Entrepreneurs, Celebrities and other Role Models was some of the WORST advice you could ever take?
You can't blame these people. Most don't REALLY know WHY they are as successful as they are...they THINK they know, but some are actually way off.

I'm looking for a mic to record documentive videos such as "topmostrare" videos
but I dont know what mic they are using
can you help me to choose ?
Heh James, sony wireless lavaliere still the latest recommendation for wireless recording or have you an updated recommendation? thanks P
James, what's your top choice for an iPhone 5s? I'm using a Tascam iM2 and am not super happy with the results. I am thinking maybe a lavalier mic would better for tabletop reviews?
ok so im thinking about getting the Audio Technica ATR 3350 as mentioned in the video as currently im not keen on spending too much until i know it works. My question is: Is the audio in this video edited in ANY way (eg audio level etc) ... I bought a £30 headset and tried a variety of others, but non work without having noise and if i reduce the noise, i have to edit the sound as my voice becomes quiet instead :(
Will the ATR help with these issues?
Great video! I am looking for a microphone !
hey james,
I cann't find sony wirless lavier on amazon, please share a link
Mind if I ask you a question? I am looking buy the Tech Pro 70 and run that to my iphone 5 for video. What adapter would I need if any for my iphone? Also do I need an extender cable of some sort that goes from the microphone receiver to the iphone? Thanks!
Hey James, I'm looking to start making my videos here soon. There will be video of me talking so I am looking for a mic that can sit in front of me on my desk. Something with crystal clear audio. Any recommendations?
Hello James - quick question. With the Audio Technica Pro 70... is it safe for me to assume that I'm going to export/upload that video to my video editor in order to bring that audio track into the video in order to create the completed video?
Hey James me and my friend have a gaming channel and we mostly record on the Xbox and I don't know what mircophone to use. Any suggestions?
Could you recommend me any top quality microphone to record videos & audio with my Xperia Z ?
what is the product description of the sony lavalier mic used in this video. Right now there are a few different options that show up when i search : Sony Wireless Lavalier System
Thanks James - great information as usual!
For those who don't want to watch this guy's comedy routine, I made a summary of what he's talking about:
lavalier mics
-audiio technica pro 70 wired lavalier amazon
-audio technica atr 3350 cheapest, about $$20 on amazon.
-sony audio wireleess system $500 amazon
shotgun
-rode condenser shotgun mic $300
When using an external mic do you have to since the audio and video ? Thanks and you do great videos
Nicely edited video. Just bought the GTD Audio g-622h wireless mic. with receiver. What do you think of this model? Went with what I could afford. Thanks, James.
James,
How do I connect the audio technica pro 70 to my iphone 6 s? I have the right cable, I figured I would just plug it in and shoot video right...but I can't get it to pick up the mic. What am I missing here?
Great video
I recently purchased a SONY WCS 999 wireless lav mic and wanted to use it on my IPHONE 5
I was instructed to install the movie pro app along with a "01-pc35-ph35" trrs adapter
I still can't hear any sound thru the lav mic thru my video recordings If you could please help me on this I would appreciate it. Thanks
Fantastic info - thanks James. Always informative and entertaining. :)
Thank you James. I appreciate you making these informative and excellent videos. Subscribed. :)
What type of connector do you use to connect your Sony mic to your iPhone? I tried it but realized it doesn't actually record the audio unless you have an adapter.
Aloha James, the Audio Techno Pro 70 can i then import to MacBookPro iMovie? Sorry still learning here… Thanks!
Another awesome video. You make it seem so easy. Well done. Love your video.
Great info, thank you :D
This is awesome! Thank you so much!
Love your videos - and keep on being funny - there are so many boring tutorials out there, yours is refreshing
Great video!
Awesome video dude! It was educational and funny at the same time! Again, awesome video!
Nice video but i got a question.
I'm looking for a microphone for recording video tutorials like lets say photoshop.
What would be a good microphone for that?
Would the wired microphone be good?
I want something that i dont need to look to use it.
I got a Rode Podcaster but i didn't liked that much.
Thank you.
Hello! What kind of device did you use to record this video and what technology did you use to edit video? Thanks!
Love the video...and thanks for the advice!
Can you use these microphones on you computer? For TeamSpeak and Skype? I've had like 2 headsets with decent mics, but both broke overnight...
For a "two person" interview can I use two wireless transmitters, one for each person and capture it with one receiver on the camera? if yes how?
Keep doing what you are doing, buddy. Your videos are very enjoyable. AND INFORMATIVE !! Thanks.
is this suppost to be funny ?
yes
Yeeaaaaaah don't quit your day job
james shepherd This probably is his day job so joke's on you
Right? Hes like dont waste time on nonsense just as he does his intro twice and uses dumb effects in the background.
I find him extremely entertaining
So all the mods I can find are for dslr cameras. I don't have a dslr I have a gopro but I want to try film making anyway. (I know the wide angle won't help but what the hell I want to try anyway) any help is great thanks
I'm so stoned trying to get my art work done but I'm completely distracted watching your videos... A good laugh! hahaha great stuff!
Thanks James. Entertaining and informative as usual. Keep up the good work and sound advice (pun intended ). :)
really really loved this video it was so informative and hillarious at the same time! would you recommend the sony one good for vlogging?
Hey James. We have a FlipCam will any of these work for this camera or what camera would you recommend as an alternative to the Flip? Thanks man!
I don't think the flip has a mic input. What you could do is get a lav mic that will work with your phone and record mic separately.
That was great, thank you for the great info. It would be great to have some links to the mic's you were talking about. Thanks again for your help. Cheers!
Thanks! This was very entertaining, but very helpful!!
Thank you so much! Very instructive...
I wish you had information on mics for things other than talking... I am trying to find the best way to video me playing music (like guitar and whatnot) and want to not have to go through my DAW separately and then pair the video and the audio later... It is taking away the spontaneity of it all. I want to be able to record either electric or acoustic.
A lot of amateur musicians would like this sort of thing (I am on a lot of groups where people play music, and their phone recordings suck) and I can't find information on this anywhere at all.
any thoughts on that?
what is the name of that midi music at the end of your video?
Does the sony lavalier work with gopro cameras?
i have a nikon d7100 and i was wondering how do you get over the issue of the camera only allowing you to record 20 min segments
Hi, I'm new to making videos, and I really want a high quality mic. I want to review over clips so audio is really important. I have a budget of $200 and I buy this kind of stuff on amazon. What would you recommend?
You videos keep getting better and better...Bravo...
Nice and informative video Sir; a little strange at first for me, but I understand the silliness there. I've been poking around for my first 'real' mic to purchase for my video game recording setup (no need for camera's though) and some of these were intriguing to me. Can you suggest some goo mic's to use with a Microphone Suspension Boom Scissor Arm Stand - I'm buying one off of Amazon and need some good suggestions for that. Looking at the Floureon BM-800 condenser studio recording microphone and shock mount holder (coupled with a microphone mic wind pop filter mask shield); what do you think?
I film my vids with a photocamera, but the audio is low (see my channel). Should I buy a microphone?
Love your very funny, quite informative video!!!
Awesome vid bro
What song did he use in when he says this is the ultimate mic vs mic ????? Please answer
I really like your videos, very informative thank you very much
I only have one comment, the jokes and the effects you put in the middle is entertaining but it's going to be better if they were fewer, it's distracting when it's more than 2 or maaaxx 3 times / video
thanks again
This is still good info over a year later. Meanwhile, both of my cameras with the built-in mic don't have an input for an external mic.
Loved this vid!! Lol thank you
Thanks for the info James! I really appreciate it! Take care! God bless!
At 1:31-1:34 when you are fighting the microphones in the background you have some music playing that is from a toy keyboard...could you please link a source to that song i used to love that keyboard as a kid and would love to listen to that song and others
So what is a good mic for fujifilm x-a2? Cuz it doesnt have plug in for mic
I am using a smartphone to record videos. Any suggestions for the mic. Don't have budget for dslr camera. Plz reply.
I have a channel with my 4 friends. we use a webcam, not a camera.I use a audiotechnica at2020. I often find that it does not pick everyone up evenly. what do I do?
Liked your video, but it wasn't detailed enough for me. What put me off was that your main sound (wireless lav) still didn't sound great because you're in an empty room, so it's quite echoey. You need to dampen your room with blankets. I have this problem and trying to solve it by shooting my audio separate to visuals. I stick my mic in the closet with a bunch of clothes, dampens it superbly... but still wondering what's the best mic to have in there.
Beau's Toy Farm
You are hilarious! Love your stuff!
Enjoyed you video...entertaining. If you could be so kind as to help me with a question, I would appreciate it. I have a Samsung galaxy 4 phone and was wanting to record audio AND video with it. Do you have a certain mic that you would recommend? I did buy a lavalier vidpro xm-l but it seems to only do audio. Thank you in advance for your time.
What video editor did you use?
Which editing software do u use ? It's amazing!
Little bit new to this. Just one question, can I use this mic with any computer and windows? Thanks! Great Video.
Great video, a lot of homework you gave me to study about Microphones.
The wireless lavalier is for cameras...not iPhone, right? Any suggestions for mics for smart phones?
Can anyone tell me if the Shure sm27 is really good for vocals?
Perfect timing for exactly what I need. This is my number 1 frustration when shooting videos for clients. Thanks James!
James, I haven't been on your channel for ages and the quality of your videos has rockettes insanely high. It's easy to see the difference after long time absence. But anyway I was searching for info about the audio choices for CZcams. I'm only doing the gaming commentary so was seeking for some top range mic. I have a Blue Nessy atm and was wondering what's better than that.
Nice work on the drone flyby!! Hahaha
Your editing was on fleek. Keep it up
did you really just say the word fleek? fucking high schoolers
Maleek M nope i aint a yankee uk ftw
Great videos!!! Thank you!!!!!!
Hey James. I am looking to buy two wireless mic's for interviewing people in the real estate business. How in the heck do I do this? Need to hook up mics to cannon 60d camera. Least expensive as possible.
Love your channel bro. Your giving me great tips to apply to my business! Keep it up!!
Thanks- Vic -FreeAgentProperties!
Thanks so mutch James, i learned alot from you and your tips and videos are helping me out. i got Screen flow and soon going to start making my own videos. thanks so mutch James cant say it enough :)
awesome!!
What Can I use during a cooking Stream while indoors? Thanks for the Video.
Good show, James! Another option for the cheap (errr inexpensive) side: Pearstone wired lav. Comes with ridiculously long cable and works. I recommend for my students. I've got a Shengu mic coming soon for the same reason.
I have invested in audio and my go to is Lectro wireless, Tram mic, and Senheiser ME66 shotgun with equalizer muff. I love this gear but it's too heavy for my small cameras where the Rode and wired lav work great. I take it you are going into the camera or are you going into a zoom type recorder? I like to keep it simple and have gone direct into camera when doing basic shoots.
oh nice, thanks for the share!!
Thank you so much! Got me to subscribe with your "Golden God" clip! ;)
I love your personality on camera!
what is the starting theme song name?
James Wedmore PLS REPLY I MIGHT BE WAITING FOR YOUR ANS

What lens does he use on the d7000??
0:59 "and then you heard a plane flying overhead" - wait that's a helicopter LOL
Nice vid. Thanks.
Thank you!
Your funny keep it up! I have to sy for tutorials your the funniest I've ever seen love it!!!!!
Great tutorial
Hm, I'm wondering what mic you would recommend if your face ISN'T going to be on camera? A lot of people have recommended snowball microphones if you're going to be doing audio separate from video.
love it, don't know if i learn't anything due to laughing too much, thanks for this vid
James, you are so entertaining to watch and, on top of that, informative. Off to Google lavalier microphones :)
