Exploring the Best Indian Fine Dining Restaurant in Dubai (2 Michelin Star)

  • Today we are exploring incredible India - the customs, the culture and of course - the cuisine.
    But luckily, I don’t even need to pack a bag, because we will do all this from the comfort of a rooftop restaurant in Dubai. It's called Trésind Studio and it's located in the world’s largest man made island, Palm Jumeriah. In the kitchen is chef Himanshu Saini. This year, Trésind Studio got number 11 on the World’s 50 best restaurant list and also got 2 stars in the Michelin Guide.
    Here is the plan:
    We start in the Thar Desert, and head down to the Deccan Plateau. From there it’s over to the Coastal Plains and Islands and then North to the Himalayas.

    Before this year ends, I will upload one more video, where I will reveal my TOP 10 favorite restaurants of 2023.
    Any guesses which restaurants made my TOP 10?🔥

      Not sure but I think, at least 7 of the 10 I mentioned might make the top 10.
      Core by Clare Smith, Mirazur, Le Cinq, Geranium, Central, Plenitude, Piazza Duomo, Boury, DiverXo, Iris.

    I normally think these restaurants are incredibly expensive for someone with my income, but for a bit more than 170 euros, and a 17 course tasting menu this actually seems reasonable. Plus you get the warm up snacks. Each course is a work of art and if you figure it is about 10 Euros each that is not too bad for a work of art even if they are small.

      fine dining has never been about the price to portion ratio, of course there are still unreasonable prices in some places but generally you are going to experience the restaurant as a whole as well as the food. Hours upon hours are spent on preparing ingredients with such intricacy and they're high quality. The severs/serviettes, the chef coming to see you and explaining the tradition behind dishes. The experience is more than worth it

    • @brianlotze5830
      @brianlotze5830 Před 6 měsíci

      You are absolutely right, but your comment also highlights why fine dining is not available to those who have to worry about the cost of food. For those who can't just go to the store and buy what they want, or for whom going out to eat is a luxury that is not cost effective most of the time. I went out to eat with my family to celebrate multiple birthdays and paid over $200 dollars for six people, maybe you think that is not a lot, but on my budget that was a lot, fine dining is really not an option for many. At the same time, I'm an a photographer who photographs the natural world and sells my images and I also feel that if you look at each of these dishes as a works of art then the price paid in this particular video is actually not very much. @@yournanshobnobs9707

      It creates a really different atmosphere, suddenly you are putting yourself bellow the customer ready to initiate a conversation! Breaks with the image of the authoritarian chef, looking from above with arms crossed.
      Bonus: allows you to rest a bit after long hours in the kitchen 😅

    170 euros for 17 courses seems like an actual incredible deal for a meal this special. The wine pairing bumping the cost up to 400 seems incredibly reasonable as well. As someone who does not drink alcohol much, I really appreciated how each drink was unique and not necessarily alcoholic for each dish. If I am ever in Dubai, I will have to ensure to make a reservation.

    Having spent my 20 first years of life, as an expat, in Singapore where there is very strong Indian cultural and culinary presence, it is such a pleasure to see the unbelievable food that I grew up on being represented with such emotion and finesse. Indian sauces can be as complex as the lauded Mexican mole. Anyone who has walked through the beauty of an Indian market with the stunning flower arrangements etc. will recognize the inspiration for the stunning presentation of these dishes. What an experience and the humility of the chef and his team exude India. Thank you for sharing Alexander. Hats off, as always for the incredible content.

    Hands down one of my favorite restaurants. My wife and I go there almost every other month.

      You spend 800 euros every other month on fine dining?

    • @saNy870
      @saNy870 Před 6 měsíci

      @@mrgyani well first of all it’s 200 Euro per person as we don’t typically get the drinks add on and yes we are lucky enough to afford it especially since we don’t go out that often.. like everything in life you choose what you want to spend on.

    Never let go of your wine obsession. Haha. I would have been interested in your pairings. Indian cuisine is an interesting pairing.

    I don't understand how the 11th best restaurant this year only has 2 stars. Shouldn't it, in theory, be worse than every 3 star restaurant?

    • @erdene2476

      Ranked 11th by one org, 2 michelins by another.

      Nope, unless the judgements were based on the number of Michelin stars a restaurant has achieved. Michelin stars are obtained through continuous dedication and high quality. Naturally, a restaurant which has been in business for longer would have more stars than a newer restaurant, Michelin starred restaurants would always be topping the lists solely due to virtue of being starred which would mean newer ones wouldn't have a chance, but they do as evident from this example. This restaurant was awarded their second Michelin star along with the 11th spot this year, who's to say they wouldn't be awarded a third?

      Different organisations judge restaurants independently. They also have different metrics they judge them by. These are also governed by similar yet separate categories.
      The Michelin Guide is simply the most famous and prestigious one.

      I've eaten at many 2 & 3 star establishments
      However some of the 3 stars are more trying to "maintain" their status than driving to reach a new level of success and a lot of 2 star restaurants are really fighting to be recognized as a 3 star restaurant...so some 2 stars in my opinion are actually better than 3 stars!!!
