30:05 I was wrong here, Hilbert actually was a platonist!
Ok wow yeah watching yes usually I was incompetent in learning from most textbooks wow indeed🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬💯🌈☮️💟🥰😍😘🤯♾⭐️⭐️⭐️🌌🌌🌌🧪🧪🧪💋💋💋 I would have PhD inspired by Jade if I was a bit younger than you probably haha🗽🎓
you are better than veretassium! thank you for your WonDering Light! You make me want to more Study logics!
Sabine Overcomplexyphy things WE NEED THE MATH CORE BEHAIND the consepts and the phylosophy behaind! Moral existencial physics is TO MAIN STREM! Right now we NEED THAT HUMANITY find ways to find the most efficient path in saving our asses from CO2 ENTROPY
Jade, I have a confession to make....
Jade is wonderful and intelligent.
I'm going to save this interview for later though, because the Spiritual Quantum Entanglement (or Empty Field Displacement) is just too much for me right now!😯😮😵😀😀😃😃😅😅
Jade, it doesn't matter if there are already 100 videos on CZcams covering a topic. Your audience wants YOUR video on the topic. Give it a shot and tell me if I was wrong
Jade needs to distance herself from all the other channels if she wants to make a name for herself.
Go back to Newton and his F=ma equation.
Force equals Mass times Acceleration
Force is Energy.
Mass is Energy traveling less than the speed of light.
Acceleration is motion/change
From that. We get Energy = Acceleration.
To confirm that. Absolute Zero is the absence of energy - Zero temperature.
Once we accelerate Energy, we get temperature/Force.
There's your Theory of Everything.
No Acceleration, No Force, No Energy.
This is very well put. You are right. Jade is a fantastic storyteller! (And writer and producer and director and animator)
Don't forget about her beauty as well!
Don't forget about her beauty as well!
total corectness
Jade is so bright, sweet, and humble. Her intellect is only matched by her character
Literally read that as "My snuggles with physics"
Lucky physics and all that 😄
hahaha
Thank you for all the science and math videos you produced. You’ve done a wonderful job making “difficult” scientific topics understandable for everyone. I wish we had more teachers like you who share your enthusiasm and teaching clarity.
Great work Jade! Thank you so much
She just regurgitates what other biological robots keep repeating. For instance, she made a video This Proves Einstein's Relativity about the muon decay in atmosphere. And yet -- it only proves the time elongation, not the entire thing. For instance, it does not prove the length contraction. And she calls it Einstein's even though the guy did exactly nothing in it. So it is very misleading. And if those things turn out to be wrong, then guess what -- she has been lying to you. She does not point out the weak points in any of her videos. Einstein, Cantor, all of them. Good enough for a youtube video I guess...
@@Kraflyndon't you mean time dilation?
@@mjowsey Isn't it the same? 0o
Thank you very much!
I had a great time interviewing you, Jade! Thanks for the opportunity 🙏
You are a super star and inspire me to make better videos on my own terms! Long may it continue Jade 🙌
Aww thanks Rohin! You are always so supportive ☺️
I so relate to your frustration of not understanding some lectures and finally figuring out that most are just not delivered well for you. You don't provide full university courses, of course, but I think you can really inspire people to believe that they can understand anything.
Your positivity and enthusiasm are so infectious. I love your channel …. Far more interesting than my 8 years at University!
I liked the interview, and was fascinated to hear some of your responses to the various questions. I have always appreciated your commitment to a quality script. To me that is far more important than any video editing you might do, however the fact that you are willing to spend time to learn to get better at video editing speaks volumes about your dedication.
It's inspiring and motivating to watch! It's definitely hard to build up such an audience :)
Thank you!
Many thanks for your excellent work Jade! I studied philosophy but always kept a fascination for physics (it was a tough decision). I noticed that you are really interested in philosophical paradoxes related to science also, which kept me hooked to your channel!
Just joined as a Patreon, been a subscriber for a while but this video pushed me to offer more direct support. You produce such interesting and engaging content. Last year, I took the cover from your notebook and framed it on my wall… it is all encompassing.
Great to see the Q&A session
I was having a terrible day. But now I have an hour of Jade smiling and being smart. My day is better again
Jade's smile is so infectious!
Well now we need a collab with Simone. Make it so. You can do it.
Also what you said about studying physics was so relatable. Could write a book about it
Your content explanation is very good with simplified shorts along with your tone and flow of speech keeps me focused on topic. ❤
Art and teaching little kids. That explains a lot.
I've watched CZcams presenters with interesting subjects and maybe wit, but deadpan faces and near monotone delivery makes it hard to keep the brain on track.
Your smile and constantly changing expression with eyes and eyebrows unable to sit still for a moment keeps the attention on track, as does the enthusiastic voice explaining concepts which you initially struggled to understand yourself. Definitely the most engaging presenter on YT in my book. Well done!
would also love to see a video where Brady from Numberphile interviewed Jade about her favorite numbers, concepts, etc w/ the big brown paper handy. their personalities and specific joy of the process would be great together
I am so happy I stumbled upon your page!!! I am a phd in ocean sciences and just love your videos to get my mind focused on things other than my research :) thank you so much for sharing and making these
Jade, you are such an inspiration!! Thank you for being such a great communicator and for being honest about your struggles. Lots of love from New Jersey!
Question: how do you find usually concepts that you decide to make videos about? Also, for videos that require knowledge and understanding of things that would not be covered in a typical physics degree, do you use other internet sources to build an understanding, or do you try to learn by talking to people who are more in those fields, or purchase books on related topics?
Great video! I love how mixing domains can enhance each of them. Also, I appreciate the part where you mentioned the failure you had to be a primary teacher. Saying so, I am currently writing an article about the failure and success principle. If you are interested in reading it, wave your hand!
Continue like this! I'll continue to watch all your videos!
Loved this interview both for the answers but because with the interviewer was engaging and were great questions. Thank you!
I struggled with first year undergrad physics after finishing highschool with 99% average physics test score. I seriously seriously commend you for pushing through that degree, and I'm grateful for all the excellent videos you put out now!
15 min in, really enjoying it. Keep it up!
You are great Jade, I love your channel and watch all your shows.
I hade a very similar experience to you in high school Jade and then getting my physics degree but not wanting to work in physics. I'm a visual spatial thinker so CZcams opened up the more abstract topics to me and there is so MUCH richness in those topics. For notes I live on a whiteboard with sticky notes, I also use Google notes for capturing random ideas when out in the world. I would love to find a better note taking system that didn't lock me down.
Awesome, hopefully this will help make your incredible channel better known because as I always say, it is greatly underrated. Your view count and subscribers should be counted by the millions.
We love your way of presenting things, Jade! So even if another science channel has covered the same topic, go for it anyway! All of my favorite channels have unique ways of covering a topic that might resonate with some viewers and not with others. Your sense of humor makes learning about complex ideas a lot of fun, and maybe helps them stick in one's mind.
Also, props to your writers and animators, but your earlier episodes when you did the animations yourself were also fantastic!
Collabs I would love to see (in no particular order):
Dr. Becky
Physics Girl
Veritasium
The Science Asylum
SmarterEveryDay
PBS Space Time
Learning new stuff from Jade is always fun! Would love to see you collaborate with Veritasium.
Jade is totally awesome! 😍
It's about 3 years watching your videos and I just love them ma'am your videos are just so good they always motivate me to enter the feild of pure science and research all thanks to you ma'am ❤️✨️
Jee student right 🤣
Feel better Dianna! We love you
Wrong channel?
Your work is inspiring me to create my own channel in my language. Please continue marking great content! Missing your VDO!
I sit down with my nephews to watch your videos from time to time. Makes for some interesting conversations.
note: regardless how much a topic has been covered, do a video about it anyway. You have a unique way of explaining that's fun and easy to understand.
This is good and an eye-opener.
Do we still need to specify why we love your channel, Jade?
Of course we do. The basics:
- You have a great personality
- You know your stuff
- You're pretty (that helps)
- You present things in a palatable way
- This list should be a lot longer. Over to the teams.
Jade,
I love your channel SO MUCH!!!!!
I've wanted to tell you but I didn't want to just repeat what others had already said in so many ways.
Which started me wondering whether the number of ways to tell you was countably infinite or uncountably infinite,
Which means that you are simply Transcendant!
Love you. Never stop! Not ever. Never.
Love your content, Jade! I subscribed to your patreon once just to get a chance to speak with you. But unfortunately, that tier got taken down. Reason to want to talk was because I think you’re really smart and extra cool and would love to get some facetime with you and pick your brains on different topics!
amazing journey into physics. never would have predicted this!
. my father was a radiation/nuclear physicist and his journey couldn’t have been more different given the times and him being a Dux scholar at school an on a scholarship at Melb Uni! although he did spend a year teaching secondary school when he had to repeat a math subject!
as an “artsy” who loves math, science and programming but not that great at it i love this story. so encouraging as i work through postgrad Economics of Sustainability!
Really enjoyed this unscripted format. It was nice to see a different side of your personality. Almost like being the one asking the questions. You should definitely collab with Sabine Hossenfelder. Dr. Becky would be another good collaboration
Jade is so pretty on top of being so smart and charismatic!❤️
we like Jade's personality how she explain everything.
I love you Jade! You are so beautiful, brilliant and witty. Great channel. Thank you for all that you do. Keep up and atom.
OMG That was such a fun interview! This was neat seeing how you approach video making. I agree the low hanging fruit has been picked. New topics in physics are hard!
Did you live in Pgh? Are you still there?
impresive, alaways insperational to see someone starting a bit late or a bit behind yet working hard to sucess
Hi! Thank you so much for this video I found it very relatable,
I may not be much of a physicist (I'm a much better chemist), but I can see that you explain at a very accessible level, and you clearly demonstrate a passion for it. Keep up the amazing work!
Jade. You are so pretty. What a joy to watch ❤
Very candid.
About the notes: I use GoodNotes on an iPad and I traced things like pointing hands and numbers that are multicolored so that they stand out. I grab screenshots and then use neon color hands to point to things that are key.
The act of reducing the notes down to a very simple set of icons, phrases, etc... is what helps the most. The reason is that you have to actually think about how to simplify your notes. This IS a great form of studying because you have to ask yourself "how can I reduce this down to the simplest thing?"
Enjoying your videos immensely and we are traveling forward in time as it is. If we can figure that outmaybewe’ll be able to go faster or in reverse.
Presently, I'm ~@23:00, so apologies if these ideas are covered later....
One of the game-changing things for me was when I was doing self-study in topology recently, I learned about coarse-grained and fine-grained sets (open and closed), and something conceptually clicked for me.
I realized it was all related to the delta-epsilon proof of limits, that my teachers briefly referenced in high-school. Except, they only mentioned it in passing, and only to say, "this is a thing you could learn, but we're not going to cover it, because it's too hard" (which I think was code for "we don't know how to teach this, because it doesn't fit neatly into something we can test for").
So my takeaway has been that the concepts of point-set topology are an elegant generalization of things like the delta-epsilon proof. Once I learned about that, it gave me a much greater appreciation of the idea of continuity (rather than just taking it on faith from my teachers). I'm pretty sure I skipped right over the subject of Real Analysis, though (which I plan to get back to someday).
And (switching gears) as for the programming, I'm also largely self-taught. But more recently I've been drawn to learning more about the foundations. For example, I finally just picked-up a book on compilers ("The Dragon Book", as it's colloquially called). It's good, but it's definitely not easy going for me. There's a lot to chew on.
Anyway, sorry about the long-winded comment. I'm enjoying the interview, and I think I've found another youtuber to subscribe to... (subs.... feed... too... big....)
Hope you will have 500,000 subscribers, soon! 🌺
Thank you for all the great and interesting content you did so far!
I think it would be really amazing if you could do some collaboration with Mithuna from Looking Glass Universe. Together you could probably do a topic which has some quantum weirdness in it, but also has a different side... Then Mithuna could cover the quantum part deeper, while you could go dive into the other part of the thing. What do you think?
Awesome channel and awesome content
when you say how you're surprised which videos do well, remember that it's a fundamentally stochastic process. There's a large element of randomness, so if a video does well, that doesn't mean that it's a reflection of what the audience/algorithm wants, or a reflection on the quality of the video. Don't go mad trying to make sense of random noise.
Very inspiring!
Up and atom is fantastic chanel thou i study biology and chemistry haha. Thou the ability of yours to communicate in a fun way, engaging with some comedy sprinkled in. Keep up the good work
Obsidian is great because you can save your documents locally, and you can open them with any text program
tbh a collab with How Ridiculous would be perfect.
their videos are basically physics experiments so it would be awesome for Jade to be there breaking it down.
plus, travel would probably be relatively affordable lmao
You Ladies Rock! ^.^
Jade I was watching your conversation with your friend. You mentioned that you wanted some book or notes so that you can better learn math and physics. When I was a math student in the seventies I ran and used a set of notes called Schaum's outline which has study notes but I used the ones that covered math and physics but you are not restricted to such subjects but chemistry biology ecc.Since you are not native to the U.S. ( neither am I) it is not surprising that you do not know about such Schaum's outlines but they could be found in many college bookstore in the seventies and eighties. I still have some and they were very useful in my studies. I bet those outlines are still around. I hope you can find them. I bet you would love them as much as I did.
thanks
Glamourous intelligent Jade Rocks!
Jade’s video of “Why you can’t measure time” is my favorite.
I don't trust anyone who worships Einstein to accurately dissect complex problems. You can't measure time anymore than you can measure inches.
@@stewiesaidthat Did Einstein said he could accurate in anything?
@MRT-co1sd Einstein lived in a fantasy world inside his head. The end result is a group of funkiest like Jade worshipping him and his ideals. You can measure time because time doesn't exist. You measure motion and what is the shortest measure of motion possible? Near infinite zero. Atomic clocks - which measure motion, are only accurate to the shortest possible wavelength achievable by an electronic device. How much energy does it take to obtain the shortest possible wavelength? A near infinite amount of energy.
That's why you can't measure time. Or accurately measure motion. Because your measuring device needs to be operating at the same wavelength as the object you are measuring.
Infinity just means unmeasurable, or immeasurable if you imagine that the unmeasurable is just too extreme to measure at the moment, and that you might be able to limit it and measure it if you could figure out a way to do so at some later stage.
Great!! Cheers from the Pacific West Coast of Canada.
PS: I just love your videos, Jade.
At 38:33 Initially I heard that as "I think another really good example is Bezos, like he's amazing", and that had me scratching my head. Then it occurred to me: that's 'Vsauce', but with the 'V' pronounced the same as the first syllable of 'vapor'. Now something surprising: with that figured out I opened the youtube auto-generated transcript to see how that had been transcribed. It says: 'Vsauce'. (Capitalized, so it's definitely not a fluke.) I find that mindboggling. Sure: Google is using deep learning technology for their auto-generated transcripts. But still: what blows me away is that the transcription functionality has the capability to recognize Jade was talking about Vsauce.
This is the very thing machines have until now been incapable of.
Loved it. Awesome to hear all about the beautiful lady behind the Physics.
I think I would have done better if I went to Uni later. I didn't do badly but I definitely wasn't applying myself as much as I could have. It's only afterwards that I really got into learning about things.
Jade, why are you so brilliant?
What jobs are your parents have or had?
What institutes or university had you been thru to learn?
Fussion, fission and entropy (Low high, and high low).
reminded me (non-sequitur) when thinking of Hilbert's error about mathematics axioms, of Hardy's own 'blunder' with his 'boasts' that the most beautiful mathematics was that which had no practical applications in the outside world (pure mathematics) and, in particular, his own special field of number theory. - then ask computer encryption and lots of other essential modern services that rely on number theory.
the other non sequitor is, similar to quotes about Quantum Mechines, can also apply to Gödel's incompleteness theorems - that of - If you think you understand them, you probably don't ... which leads me to the Dunning-Kruger effect.
Jade, are you going to cover some of the crazy findings in Open AI and Microsoft's papers they put out recently on GPT-4? There's a lot of incredible advances, ethical questions, and potential societal impacts that they bring up.
It's interesting how people seem to think organization has been such a big part of this channel's success. After listening to Jade explain the beginning of her channel, what I took away was that she simply got down to business and put lots of hours into making videos.
In order to contemplate infinity it's best to start out crazy and work backward from there.
I think there are perhaps at least two kinds of people that are confident, one is confident without the right to be, and others who are, because they put a lot of work into understanding and are thus confident, at least in the area they understand. It can be hard to tell, which is which, less confident people do often work harder to understand things and I would trust them more than confident people. Scepticism can come from uncertainty, and is essential.
sooo lovely
You make awesome science videos. I'm a fan.
Gödel and Cantor, very interesting :)
It's true. Yours is one of the best science channels.
I have collaboration suggestion that you probably haven't thought of. Rosie from Engineering with Rosie. I can't imagine what the topic could be but it would be super interesting for sure.
Jade has more charisma and likeability than any other science-based video that I've seen.
Jade, if you work with Simone G, she can loosen you up (if that’s something you aspire to) and get you cursing on camera…she did a collaboration with Physics Girl a few years ago (get well Dianna!!) and before you know it shiny, rated-G Dianna was dropping F-bombs. Simone is funny and interesting and must have a gift for language because i think some of her early videos were maybe after she had really only been speaking English for a couple years and she has an easy to miss, subtle accent. Alas, I’m a monoglot…I think that’s one reason I’m so curious and impressed with people fluent in multiple languages.
Anyway, I love your content!!! I’m a working physicist and also was an unserious student in high school, so I found studying physics hard too. And like you one of the things I learned most was that I can do it and I might feel stupid, but other folks do too, and some just hide it better.
Cheers.
😅😂, 🤣
Over thinking under thinking.. love it..
❤❤❤
Would like to see your take on distance galaxy's and if u think there maybe a chance some of them that we see in different stages of life maybe the same one different time frame.. different thinking i know
Pretty and smart that's a amazing combo doesn't usually happen very often
The algorithm: the channel "stuff made here" seems to have a lot of followers and exposure, without posting many videos, with gaps of months between them. So its not only about peppering the net with many regular videos and shorts.
A video collaboration with Veritasium would be amazing
Her brains are only matched by her gorgeousness
I liked your videos on physics more than maths. May be other's have the same opinion. I want more physics stuff plz. It might be good for your channel too.
Trying to understand infinity and trying to understand the CZcams algorithm both lead to madness.
She blinded me with science
What is your favorite hand gesture? Triad claw, sign of benediction ?
When the Higgs boson was discovered and therefore the Higgs field (which is a quantum scalar field so whatever energy you add or subtract from the Higgs field it remains the same) I did think we must be in a computer-generated simulation but that would mean we do not have free will. A multiverse of possible futures where the past is fixed and the future is open would give us free will so a multiverse with infinite memory seems to be the most likely. There will be a noninvasive brain-machine interface available soon which in theory would make everyone a genius.
My opinion, for what it's worth, is if you can't explain the concept simply so that anyone can understand it, then you aren't an expert yet. The second opinion, which is probably worth as much as the first one, knowledge that had to be worked for is worth significantly more than intuitive knowledge. So, that would make you an expert because you take complicated topics and explain them in the simplest way possible.
Super talented, I am sure you realise but I also think you might not know the full impact of your success. Your videos will help young budding scientists for generations to come.
