All of them may have failed as far as translation is concerned, they have all definitely succeeded in making us laugh. Hard.

For a culture so rooted in honor, they would be so humiliated to see what the shirts REALLY say.
There is actually no good analogous translation for “honour” in many East Asian languages. It’s just a lazy reductionist translation of the same sorts of complex factors that exist in all societies

My best guess is that they took something like "クラップヤーハンドス" (kurappu yaa handosu) and transcribed it back to English, but since there's no "L" in Japanese, when a word is transcribed to Japanese they replace the "L"s with "R"s, effectively making "clap" and "crap" sound exactly the same to Japanese people

I know the idea that these are caused by the makers not knowing English very well, but is it a coincidence that Mickey is giving the finger?
But this sort of reminds me of a book I found once that was bilingual English Chinese stories for kids (around kindergarten, as far as I could tell). In it was a story about a fox with a mirror. One day a fly comes and leaves some s**t on the mirror, so the fox keeps thinking he has s**t on his face until he gets corrected (I was a pretty simple story)
The thing is that, in this little kids book they actually had written s**t. I think they just though that was the English word, no offense intended. Sort of like how back in the missionary days the Chinese assumed that "Hell" was just the English word for the afterlife, or why we call the stuff you burn at funerals "hell money/banknotes"
I think some of these designs are made by Americans because I remember shirts just like that being sold in the hood stores, another popular one was Mickeys hands making finger guns

Just think what the tattoos say that English people have tattooed on them in Chinese writing
Some of these are pretty rad. But why do these exist in the first place? Especially the ones with images, are those people really that stupid? And why so many curse words? Where do they get these translations?
Most Chinese people can’t read English well and the people translating only pick those words coz it looks “cool”.Words with certain letters look better than others

My favorite one that I've seen in the wild is something along the lines of "die picture cancer cancer! Which is weird enough on its own but it also had ギルガメッシュ written under it so I'm assuming it was some kind of bootleg merchandise with a lyric or something run through Google Translate
