Dreamscape Matinee

  • The snowflakes fall like silver lace
    Upon the frozen ground,
They settle on my upturned face
    And melt without a sound.
    They dance a languid sarabande
    Performing just for me
    A frigid fairy wonderland
    A sparkling filigree.
And only I can hear the tune
That they play upon the air,
    The soundtrack of my afternoon
That slowly fades with my despair.
For they remind me of a time
When we stood side by side,
    Enchanted by their graceful rhyme,
In love so deep and wide.
But I'm alone and you are gone
    On this cold winter’s day,
And all I have is this sad song
    My dreamscape matinee.
