Anyone interested in some silver scales?
I'll have to weigh my options and get back to you
I will take it under advisement.
If they’re mirrored and covered in glitter, I’m your gal! (Pure sarcasm, those things were hideous and you know my thoughts on glitter-herpes of the crafting world.)
Could make sense for a maths or elementary school teacher.
Not those big silver ones, but my horoscope is Libra and our sign is the justice scales. I’ve always wanted a pair of brass scales to put on a bookshelf but on a much smaller scale. Excuse the pun!
Nick doesn’t get enough credit for his “straight to the point” presentation style. He doesn’t waste time with teasers and unnecessary background info. You know people are really efficient when they provide you with their time stamps
Taste is spot on. Superb communicator w/ refreshing, authentic, dry humor woven in. Love him and his reflections on design preferences
hear hear! His videos end too soon and leave me wanting more
I concur!
This was such a sweet comment! It's so true, he is great!
Amen!
Nick, someone gave me one of those "Sing like no one's watching" signs for my birthday last year. Well, I threw it in the fire pit last night when no one was watching. Also, my heart sang watching it go up in flames.
100% recommend.
This comment wins 🏆
😂😂😂 I love you.
Why would anyone gift home decor? Asking to get your feelings hurt
I lol’d
🤣
Can you make a video about interior design for disabled people? I find that it is SO hard to have a nice design that is practical, especially when it comes to dealing with ugly medical equiptment. How do you balance needs and design?
You are so damn funny. I'm the manager of the home dept for a high-end retailer & I used to think the wine jokes were funny (bc I don't have a drinking problem), but now I see them in a whole new light. I was also pretty neutral on the whole words as art & you've converted me. I want to throw them in the dumpster!
DO IT!
I am not sure what I like more… The advice, opinion or comedic relief of these videos….but I like them!
Yes love the little bit of sass sprinkled in
Can we all take a moment to appreciate Nick’s “bless your heart” form of throwing shade? I’m here for it...literally.
Absolutely. I'm so here for how he tiptoes up to the cliff of shade and then graciously steps back 🤣
Spot on, but my dog Quincy said that Nick forgot one thing. The dog beds are really good at HomeGoods!
Agreed. Thanks to Home Goods, I’m fairly confident our Frenchie has a nicer bed than we do!
They really, really do!!! Cat beds, too. And also feeding stands :)
Agreed!
Yes!!!
My nephew, who worked as ski instructor, said the staff like the bright colours because they (skiers) are easy to find if they fall or go off trail.
Exactly. White is a bad idea for skiing.
Had a good chuckle at the scales 😄 I studied law and when I graduated my sister gifted me a vintage brass lady justice scale. I love it because it's from her and because it's vintage. If it's regular retail it just doesn't have the same effect.
Vintage ones sound like a great gift to receive. The ones in the video just scream decorating an Airbnb
I wanted prints for my tiny bar area. All I found were wine sayings, beer sayings, and cutesy pictures. I finally found blue prints of the machinery like a distilling apparatus, and a wine press. If you need to advertise your love of wine, there are ways to do it without buying up all of the word signs, or wine cork art (one of my pet peeves). Love this video. These videos always save me a trip to Home Goods.
I work for Tjmaxx and Home Goods/ Home Sense are part of the TJX family. One reason why some of the stores carry better items all has to do with the sales volume of the stores. They don’t have a regular item delivery to any store ( like a grocery store or a different department store) on a regular basis, like laundry soap. Sometimes we have it and sometimes we don’t , BUT we might have it again. The distribution center purposely sends out to whatever stores so they mix up the merchandise. Some items do come in on a regular basis but to be quite honest, no one knows what they are receiving. I call it an adventure in shopping. Sometimes the trucks bring in fantastic merchandise and sometimes it is just meh. We do carry a home section at Tjmaxx but not to the extent of HG/ HS and may never carry those items at all. But rest assured, people LOVE our stores and are usually extremely pleased with our merchandise.
The only thing that is consistent in their merchandise is cheesy signs and fake marble 😂
That second patio chair---I can see a lot of bottoms looking not so good through that big slot in the back
I love HomeGoods. Because amid all the cheesy stuff there's the "diamond in the rough" pieces as you mentioned. I don't have a big budget to purchase at high end stores but HomeGoods will eventually have the style I'm looking for "next season" lol. shoppers are smart and do take all the nice pieces quick. so if you see it and like it, buy it or it's gone.
I about spit out my coffee out when the clearance/grateful signs came up side by side. Brilliant editing.
You are so right about the signs. Last year my sis and I were so fed up with these things that we decided to create our own ie., “Defecate” in a lovely scrolly white to punch up your toilet! “Masticate!” for the kitchen, “Collapse!” for the living room. All available in italics!! Wait…I might be on to something 😁
“SWALLOW”……
As someone who grew up in a culture where canning has been used for a long time on all types of furniture, seeing it on modern style furniture (like that mirror) always give me a whiplash. I associated canning details with countryside farms, particularly fraying stools that old ladies sit on while they chat and shell peas. I guess it elicits the same feeling that grandam-floral-patterns do for those who grew up in the west?
“If you’re really into vintagey scales.” Oh my word. I’m dying!!! 😂 I’m not sure if I love your design style more or your sense of humor!! Thank you for both!!
When Nick said " It's just that triple threat ", and his expression, absolutely classic:D
Please do a “fixing glam” video!! It’s not my style (Art Deco is gorgeous though) but with all the talk about glam in this video I’d love to hear how you’d do it (if you HAD to 🤣)
He had talked about how to do Glam correctly before. Check his videos. Also check Lisa Holt.
"Diane Lane coastal grandma" LOL! That reminded me of the decor in the movie Something's Got to Give with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson.
Yes, you made the right connection! There is a whole interior/fashion/ life styke trend now based on Something's Gotta Give and the Meryl Streep movie It's Complicated. The filmmaker is Nancy Meyers and she seems thrilled to see it take off. A TicToker came up with "coastal grandmother" for Nancy Meyer's style.
You nailed it Nick when you said “The Grace & Frankie look” Grace would certainly feel at home with several Wine signs and of course drink coasters and the “hammered” flatware (pun intended), and maybe Frankie’s Rise Up toilet seat could come in fake marble. I think the baskets and green/pink patio chairs might be Cyote’s style, and I can picture the blue velvet bench in Brianna’s office - or better yet in Barry’s. The scales for a lawyer - you have three lawyers: Sol, Robert and Bud.
Oh my gosh, all I was thinking about with the yellow patio chair was “Hotel California”. Once you get in, you will NOT be able to get out!
...such a lovely place. It's a rocker, so you'd be comfie into your old age.
I always think of the pattern on your legs after you get up, and how long it will last
I was thinking it looked like a stretched out… well, you know 😂
I love the new turquoise? vase in the background!
I forgot that was there! He was moved there for some photos and I guess I forgot to put him back.
@@Nick_Lewis soo unfortunate :)) no, seriously, It really looks wonderful.
I would just like to say you do sarcastic so well!
Nick, I love how your personality comes through in the videos. I feel like I'm hanging out with you AND learning about design style. Thanks so much for all the work you've put in to your channel!
This is why I love Nick. He shows genuine appreciation for good designs, even if the style is not his personal favorite.
Absolutely agree.
I’m with you on the wine signs and that last one (no spoiler because it’s epic). But the modern patio chair, sorry, it looks like a baby swing! Not there’s anything wrong with babies or baby swings….
Ok I can’t unsee that now
A friend of mine bought several word signs for her new home lately and it took me so much effort to keep a straight face seeing them thinking about your videos xD
Used a crystal scale I got at an antique store to hold my jewelry. It’s perfect for me! Maybe that’s what they’re going for?
I adore your videos! Super informative, straight to the point. I’ve learned so much! The hard part is… trying to get my husband to understand the subtleties of interior design. He doesn’t understand why I want drapes that actually reach the floor and why curtain rods should not sit directly above the window frame 🤦🏻♀️. Don’t even get me started on his obsession with dated 2000s glass tv console tables. 😖😖
Glam & farm house are styles that you fall in love with with you're a teenager & then never re-think it when you actually own a home.
Or a CZcamsr who does "decorate with me" videos. I used to watch them until I realized every. Single. One. Looked exactly the same.
You make me laugh! 😂 I am not trying to redecorate, and I am tacky as all get out, and I still love watching your videos. I don’t get offended at all, even though you would find my house absolutely ghastly! 🤣 You’re sharing your professional opinions, with humor, and that’s cool. My style is “vintage tacky stuff your grandma sold in her yardsale.” 😂😂 Old 50s and 60s stuff (not mid mid necessarily, but even the kitschy stuff,” brings me such joy, even though I know others must be thinking “WTF” when they come over. Lol Do your thing, people, and enjoy your life, without getting offended when others don’t care for it. Just be happy! See ya next time, Nick! Keep it up! ❤️
I would love to see your house. I bet is super unique.
Nick, your unintentional/intentional snark is always the best with your videos! You are, of course, spot on your critique. More please!
Went thrifting and found ceramic, hand painted pieces from Italy that has herbs painted on the with the name painted in Italian below. I think that’s quite different then the sign thing, they are gorgeous!
That silver ottoman would be absolutely gorgeous in a rich chocolate brown tone. And these patio chairs are gorgeous.
I will say one thing in favour of signs. I have a long hallway with 6 doors leading into the great room at the front of my home. I like to close those doors when I have guests. Therefore the (white) bathroom door has a discreet white plaque which reads privé in light gray. I can tell guests it's the door with the sign.
I mean, it's just fun to watch you go through and say what we're all thinking. Saves me a trip!
My granny ( I am 55 so that was long ago) used to have a brass scale like that on her dining room table with plastic grapes on either side LOL
I LOVE your vlogs! I always look forward to your opinions and really enjoy listening to what you have to say. I think overall you have great taste!
Love that yellow outdoor chair. Great update on a classic from my childhood in the 70s
Nick, I love your videos , your honesty and fantastic sense of humour !
I do love your subtle sarcasm. Much of what you like I also like so this just makes me laugh! A fun video. Thank you!
OMG NIck, your delivery cracks me up, we are both on the same page as to where to place glam, not on rustic wood and I hope that lonely little lamp found a good home LOL .... I always look forward to your next video, whatever it is it's always entertaining and informative , thank you Nick !
Yay again. Turquoise vase is back. Love it.
I *love* the yellow patio rocking chair!! 🤓
The blue velvet bench is nice too..
I absolutely love your snark! And your design style is even better!!
We will be attempting to purchase our first home over the next few months. Can’t wait to put your ideas to use. I really love MCM, minimal and no damn signs. Great vids, keep ‘em coming!
You crack me up! You're so kind and decent in your descriptions of things you don't like. Really enjoy hearing your opinions - btw, that terrazzo lamp needed to sit there by itself.
I'm a huge fan of HomeSense and Home Goods and all places decor! That said, you really have to visit often and there are deals and fab items to be had, especially for those of us who cannot afford or justify spending thousands on basically the same thing, such as West Elm, Crate and Barrel, etc.
Nick brightens up my CZcams!
Thanks Nick for the good advice and for your humour... and don't we all need a good laugh during these intense times. I think Homesense should give you a job Nick to source their inventory!
Liking this video because the mirror looks like it would match perfectly with a Crate and Barrel cane room divider that you featured in a photo on your channel months ago!
Omgosh Nick I went to a timeshare this weekend and there were not one, but two sliding barn doors as the bathroom doors 🤣 I will give them props for having them in an unassuming white instead of wood/rustic wood. I immediately thought of you 😂 Oh and they had drinking glasses and things out in open shelving and my first thought was: "those are going to get dusty really quickly/housekeeping is going to be dusting those A LOT"
I love the velvet bench and rhe caned arched mirror!
Nick - rest assured that the cheap brass IS obvious through the camera
There is nothing I want more than to have Nick judge my home.
Nick, you had me cracking up in this one. I love your channel for lots of reasons, your humor being one of them. I was also in an At Home store yesterday picking up a throw pillow I purchased online. First time ever and I was definitely telling my husband all the things that Nick wouldn't like or what Nick would say, or that Nick would like this basket or that basket. Your practical design advice has helped me a lot in decorating my new home. Anyway, long story short, I'm glad I found your channel a year ago. 😊
Yup. That sign! OMG! You nailed it! Ghastly !
Wine signs make my brain go to the Aidy Bryant skits on SNL 😂
Love this one! The humorous pleasant snarkiness had me laughing out loud!
You’re right as usual Nick, plus I love to hear you state your opinions..good or bad!!!👏👏😎
I saw a 5 foot tall, orange, plaster gnome in my HomeGoods this weekend and a 3 foot tall gold gorilla a few months ago. They never fail to entertain
I can see places the gnome would work it's more a statement/talking piece if you're not into gnomes or s style that would be gnome heavy
The mirror is fabulous!
I definitely love yellow for chairs for outdoors but those ones don't look all that comfortable to me. Btw, there's a very practical reason for bright colours on winter gear. It makes people easy to spot if they get off trail and get lost.
You are so much fun!! I enjoy your videos because I think you are spot on and you make me laugh!! I am a new subscriber, Thanks for your insight and humor!!😊
You are so funny and love your videos. Thank you, Nick!
I really enjoyed this video...you made me smile a lot
Today, Nick… totally spot on! Agree!
the peace and dream was hysterical!!
Nick, I’ve been following you since the beginning and I’m surprised you picked the gray ottoman. 😂 And yes I agree with your opinion. We have similar taste. Thank you for the weekly videos. ❤️
I needed this today. I just checked into an Orlando timeshare with my family, we have been coming here for 20 years. They seem to redo the decor once a decade. They chose to add a gigantic bluish purple sliding barnyard door to separate the primary bedroom from the bathroom. None of my friends are into interior decorating, so I could not tell them of the horror. I thought, I wish I could text Nick from CZcams.
I went to a timeshare this weekend and they had two white sliding barn doors leading into the bathroom!
We need a Facebook group or subreddit for roasting interior design choices. I would LOVE that.
oh nick you nailed it, you always do😂🤣
I love soft neutrals indoors and maybe sometimes more playful outside.
Thanks for the Canadian content, Nick!🇨🇦
That blue velvet couch- letter is gorgeous!
Love the critique so funny!
That mirror with the arch would look awesome where the large clock is behind you in video. Love that mirror as well ....trying to think where it would look best in my home ❤️
Oh my eyes!! Totally agree with that triple threat.
2:03 HOY! That yellow chair looks like a space age toilet. Thanks for another fantastic video.
Love that mirror!
Nick, you’re glowing in this video. Maybe this isn’t good etiquette to comment on one’s looks, but truly you look rested and rejuvenated! I’ll have what he’s having!
oh ..i love you...and your sense of humor
I agree with you on all of this… One thing, okay maybe 2 things I go to Home Goods for is basket’s like you mentioned and lampshades. My neighborhood HG has a HUGE selection of lampshades. Go figure. But I am 100% with you on the “wording” garbage. Enough is enough already.🙄
Best coasters I ever bought were large rubber nobby circles from Amazon.
Not beautiful, but work really well. Never slip and sweaty or hot glasses are taken care of.
Keep saying I should buy better looking ones, but I love how well they work.
Those yellow rockers are awesome!!
Is there such a thing as charming sarcasm? If yes Nick has it nailed. Lol love it.
😂😂😂you kill me!! Your diplomacy when you are mentioning something you aren’t fond of makes me bust a gut!!
Dallas area stores get excellent patio furniture but we also have so much of the farmhouse. I have found that the locations in more affluent areas have the best furniture and large pieces. Curtain panels are always something I check bc the quality for the price is stellar AND they have 108” panels in stock most of the time.
I was really surprised when I was in my HomeGoods last week at all the very cool and unique lamps they had. The lamp section is usually very slim pickings, but they had several I wanted (but sadly didn't need).
Wohoo.. You are getting closer and closer to 500k subscribers! I've run out of new videos so I 'm watching your old ones (again)
I took a screenshot of 11:53 and made it my wallpaper. Sass is on point, Nick.
That mirror is gorgeous
My nightmare would be running into Nick with my basket full of whatever I'd found at HomeSense (HomeGoods where i live)
The patio rocking chair in blue is fun ! I'm with you about the grey ! I'm so over it , in KC its over saturated and people have told me over and over they are tired of grey after living with it during shut down. The velvet mid-century mod repro bench/ sofa thing is great! I've never seen scales at any goodwill , antique store etc btw. Teh weathered wood look would look great in an industrial setting with red brick cast iron tec.
You made me laugh when you called the sign a triple threat. Building a house and find your paint videos very helpful. Thanks from Boston😘
You are so funny. You make my day!
The yellow patio chair is a dupe for a West Elm 😍chair without the rocking feature. It was back ordered for the longest time.
They've been around forever in Mexico...
West Elm just copied them. From 1972.
Finally!!! I’m not the only one tired of grays.
agree, outdoor more colour in chairs, cushions and decor, granted I am Boho indoor too
