  • Radar Mast Tack Up Tower And Skin The Spreaders
I toe clamped the mast assembly down to the K&T mill table so I can tack the frame work up in a plum and level position, I share the way I like to do rosette welds on surface tacks, then set the final frame location for the spreaders.
    Life is good! Cheers, Keith

The radar mast looks fine. Great to see a pro to build this. Greetings from Germany.

You really have a nice setup for capturing the up close welding. I can see your weld better than my own at home.

Adding the skin to the spreaders only goes to show a guy can never have enough clamps :)

I'm surprized that the main structure stays relatively straight after welding, usually, aluminum have a great tendency to warp as it is welded.
very good job on that project.

A lot of it has to holding the structure in place until it cools down. if you weld aluminum freely it will go where it wants too!

There is just something so satisfying about seeing the skeleton get skinned. maybe I am weird..actually, I already knew that, but it is satisfying nonetheless.
    Thanks for the videos, Keith.

This makes me miss having a boat. But, it's not worth it where I live now. I'd rather have a well drilling rig.

Looks like you are gettin' her done . I'd much rather get something custom fabbed than get it off the shelf.

Did you have to put a hole in the ceiling of the shop to clear the drill press? Nice!

Keith, I 've watched every vid you've posted and a lot of them more than once. You are an artist and craftsman in every way. Please tell me the wings are not welded into place cause they look upside down on my laptop ie. the flat sides should be down to emulate a plane wing. But I can only assume they are flat on top for easier mounting of antennas and lights.
