@@Mrd9960 Lived in the Chicago area until 1979. Some years before, attending the opera, a car had damaged my car in the parking garage. Driving to the Expreessway I noticed a cop car parked a block away. I stopped my car and walked the block to the cop car. The cop insisted on driving to where my car was parked (with my wife in it) because he said it wasn't safe to have a cop car that far away. Buy a lottery ticket. you're in luck.
@@cestmoi1262 Well I'm sure some areas are worse than others, not sure what area you mean, but I'm just speaking about the mag mile, the Loop and streeterville, I didn't go outside of the big city area, so maybe it's worse in the small neighborhoods and outside the city, idk.
@@cestmoi1262 I mean the way I see it is, as long as you're with a crowd of people walking around, then your safe, it's only if you're by yourself, you're a target, in the spring and summertime there's loads of tourists everywhere, so a person is pretty safe normally.

I’m planning to visit Chicago at the end of the year but one thing that is worrying me is the crime that has gone up in the downtown area. Could someone please tell me is it safe to visit there?
Are you likely to come Chicago and be 98% safe. It’s crime and violence everywhere but you’ll be fine don’t let the media scare you 98% of what’s heard about Chicago is in area’s tourist wouldn’t be anyway, far south side and far west side. Again that 2% that’s left is the other areas. You’re just as likely to be harmed here as in other major cities. Come enjoy it just make sure you got layers of coming in the cold 🥶
The truly unsafe areas are also areas of little to no interest otherwise to visitors. That said, no matter where you go, situational awareness is your friend. Bon Voyage et Bienvenu, as nobody in Chicago would actually say.
Crime gonna happen regardless just don’t act like a rich white person begging to get robbed and you’ll be good in downtown
It's safe, don't listen to the media, things happen unfortunately anywhere. But you'll be a okay, especially being in the downtown area during day time.
