After putting a few hours into the brilliant Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 gameplay for the PS4, and then writing a very brief Pro Skater 1+2 review without any walkthrough because he’s selfish, Caddy decided to go back to his shelves and revisit all the skating games he used to love as a teenager - and not just for great soundtrack after great soundtrack. Tony Hawk OST man, you can’t beat em. After getting nostalgic about Tony Hawk’s Underground 2 Remix PSP and Tony Hawk’s American Sk8land DS, or is it American Skateland DS? Why wasn’t it called American Wasteland DS? Anyway - he decided to then gather up all his funds and play through 30 odd skateboard games in order to make yet another ridiculously long video review, covering everything from Atari 2600 to Steam and PC. In this compilation video that’s probably longer than a few of the Caddicarus Season videos, you’ll be seeing Skate Boardin’ Atari 2600 gameplay, Airblade PS2 gameplay with an Airblade PS2 review, Skateboard Madness X-treme Edition gameplay with a Skateboard Madness X-treme Edition review. AVGN LJN. So many letters. I may not be an Angry Video Game Nerd, but I now know how to trash bad NES games - so who knows what the future will bring? OH - I also take a quick look at Steam for a Skater XL review and Session review for PC, featuring Skater XL gameplay and Session gameplay. One is early access, and the other I think is on PS4 as well as PC and Steam. These descriptions are as long as my videos now. OH I ALSO FORGOT - Pro Skater is also known as Tony Hawk’s Skateboarding in the UK and Europe, I think. Tony Hawk’s Skateboarding gameplay - that’s what we’ve got. It’s a boring and stupid name. Tony Hawk’s Skateboarding PS1. Say it more and realize how dumb we were. What was so wrong with Pro Skater?

Not only that, but the "games" that Code Monkeys did for Phoenix were the Dingo Pictures films with barely passable as a game minigames like Dalmations 3 and Dinosaur Adventure.
They also Made Shrek Treasure Hunt for PS1.
I like how, even though caddy doesn’t like his old videos, he still refuses old jokes and gags. Hits me in the nostalgia. I think he even reused the Brutalmoose rivalry.
Now I’m just waiting for Puppicarus and Percy to give him the next game.

You know what? It's official, Toys for Bob is the little engine that could of game companies. One of those groups that, even when thier games weren't perfect or powerful, you could see the passion and how hard they at least tried to make something passible. And not only did the engine make it over the hill, but rolled on into the sunset western style.

I did a quick search and they were acquired by Activision in 2005. They seem to be doing well for themselves but don't really work on new IPs, instead they worked on Skylanders until that hit its peak and then they only worked on remakes of old IPs.
I’m actually surprised that Phoenix “Games” made an actual game rather than a random animation with terrible mini games all while ripping off Disney.
And now I can see why it took this long to cover an actual video game Phoenix made. Because they're somehow even worse than their animation/mini-game hybrids.

Fun fact about Tony Hawk's Proskater 5: it was Made entirely to be able to hold onto the rights in so little time that Most of the Game was simply unable to be put onto the disc to have it be printed in time, Hence the massive Patch. The kinect is probably failing _because_ of the sun, the kinect projects a pattern of infrared to detect where you are and the sun overpowers that pattern rendering it rather useless.

@@mincrmatt12 we have tons of Kinect at my old university lab, it's actually hilarious how well it operates NOT as a gaming instrument.
That's what I thought too. I haven't used the Kinect in a while but IIRC when you boot up any Kinect game, one of the general information is that you should cover the windows if the sun is shining in.
This video is 70 minutes long, and Caddy is still talking a nautical mile a minute to fit in everything he wants to say. There’s easily enough material for 15 normal-lenght videos, and yet he doesn’t divide this into a dozen parts and publish them all back to back, unlike some channels that only want more clicks. We stan a legend.

I don’t mean to defend the Kinect but when Caddy is having issues with the spongebob game finding his foot he’s standing on a huge spot hit by direct sunlight
Kinect uses mostly infrared to find you, and guess what sunlight is full of

it's really sensitive to light and his room was booming with it, especially on his foot, which is what the game needed to function

There’s something to say about Microsoft not correctly communicating how to troubleshoot the device tho, not everyone is familiar with the ins and outs of their gear and it’s pretty easy to make the assumption “oh it needs to see me so sunlight is good cause it makes everything bright”
But sometimes the Kinect just fucks up, like when the game will show a perfectly accurate representation of your skeleton and still fail to recognize what you’re doing lol
I mean at that point it’s a toss up between it being the Kinect’s or the game’s fault, but it’s kind of irrelevant at that point.
Also it’s funny Caddy mentions Kinect Adventures and Sports are the only ones that work all the time because I remember it was shown that they basically played themselves lol
There was this article about a guy playing Kinect Joyride by staying perfectly still and his car in game was steering and doing stunts all on its own and it was absolutely hysterical
Tbh yeah I was confused why he had such a hard time. I didn't know exactly what was wrong but I never had an issue with the kinect when I used it (even on that specific spongebob game)
I think someone else commenting on that kinect video put it best: the kinect is built for big, American living rooms and if he did stand the appropriate space back he would be on the back wall of his hallway
I kept wondering the same thing...not just the lack of space, but more so the immense sunlight completely ruining any chance of the Kinect working _properly_ ._. some overhead lighting (or at least strategically placed lamps) and blackout curtains to keep the excessive sunlight out would probably do it...or maybe just recording around noon instead of early morning (so the sun would be more neutral/in the middle instead of east/west biased- I mean, it looked like early-ish morning/around sunrise in that clip, anyway)
...then again, my only first-hand experience with Kinect was at a friend's place with a couple of games he had/rented (Family Video was still a thing at the time, even though Blockbuster was on it's way out) and it worked _reasonably_ well- but that was in a basement bedroom with the only natural light coming from a tiny 8" tall (give or take) window, heh
Of course, the bit with "What? The room is too dark? I HAVE THE SUN--" just makes that point even worse lol
I'm really happy seeing a positive review of Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure in here. I had many fond memories of that game growing up and when I got the game officially in my hands I wasted three days beating it. Just so I could unlock all the music videos and stuff. It was worth it in my opinion and I absolutely loved every second of it. So again, really happy you enjoyed that one Caddy :'3

Here's the thing with Simpsons Skateboarding: it's a relative of Skateboard Madness. Skateboard Madness was published by Phoenix Games, like you said, which also published the Dingo Pictures games. But the Dingo games were developed by The Code Monkeys. Can you guess what The Code Monkeys also developed? ... It was Simpsons Skateboarding.
