  • Just a short video on some minor repairs to the deck, I called it a repair not a rebuild, I didn't think the work went so far as to call it a rebuild, but I will have some rebuilds this winter on a 50" and a 48C deck as well.

I agree with your statement about those decks, I think those decks are some the best cutting decks JD makes. Thanks for the video.

Yeah, I think in terms of cutting quality and durability both. Thanks for watching.

If you hit the pulley belt faces with a Nylon Abrasive Wheel (HF) on a drill, the rust comes off pretty easy. Otherwise, the rust will eat the first belt you run on it.

Yes sir, I have heard that is the case before. I try to get the pulleys pretty cleaned up. I'm currently doing another 54" deck video from a 455, similar, but a little different. Didn't have hardly any rust in the groves, but still sanded and brushed them down and repainted. JD wants an arm and a leg for those pulleys. Thanks for watching.

Enjoy your work, I have a GX335 with a 54C deck and am trying to replace the main drive pulley as the bearings went out. You replaced the mower spindles but avoided the main pulley, was it due to cost or degree of difficulty?

It was actually in good shape, so I approached it with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. I think I had two to pick from and just picked the better of the two, but you are right, my video was not really complete without that feature also replaced. I may be doing a 48' Deck coming up soon on a GT235, should be very similar. Thanks for pointing that out and also for watching.

Yeah man, Deere has so many parts and parts numbers for so many variations of what they've built and the internet isn't always accurate, it's difficult to figure the stuff out sometimes. Even decks that appear similar can have different part numbers and require slightly different parts. Thanks for watching.

Where did you get part numbers?
I have had no luck on the JD website. I type in the model number and it says that it is an invalid number.

Have you tried the parts site? partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/ If this doesn't work, email me what you need and I'll see if I can figure them out. Thanks for watching.

I can't figure out how to get your email address.
I need an idler pulley for my M054CAC064035. The pulley next to the center blade spindle.
I tried the website you suggested. It says my part # / SN is not a valid part number.
I'd love to find an exploded view of the deck with a part number list.
