There is a complaint about Tucker being the mayor of Amity Park. In the first two seasons of Danny Phantom, it is shown that when Tucker gets hold of power, he gets corrupted easily and is willing to betray his friends.

Team Phantom-Sam, Tucker and Jazz, did poor Danny wrong. The one time Danny needed moral support and guidance, they made Danny a jerk because A) he selflessly sacrificed his ghost powers to save his parents from getting arrested and B) when he was having a run of bad luck with the Masters Blasters, as well as contemplating about having a normal life, his so-called friends and sister dismissed him as selfish and stupid while implying that they prefer “Danny Phantom” over regular “Danny Fenton.”

Exist??? Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to say something along the lines of "some were people, some got corrupted as ghosts (like the animals being mutated ghosts) and some are deities who were there to keep the zone in check since the beginning (clockwork, Pandora, the observers)"
The whole "its another dimension" is a lame excuse, because if it really was, they could've done something similar to stranger things, where they're mostly unknown and don't interact a lot with the flip-side world (earth)

@get butthurt • 666 years ago ok firstly please don't bring sin and religion into a children's cartoon. I'm semi-religious but you really could've ended that on the first sentence without a paragraph on why I'm a "stupid sinner", especially since the concept of sin hasn't been proven to be real.
Secondly, I never said humans aren't animals, I'm saying that some animal ghosts were mutated, same as some human ghosts (J 13 and his shadow, the warden, etc) and they could've played it as a corruption arc. The rule of the ghost zone was that you became who you wanted to be when you died (ember became the rock star she dreamed of becoming when she died). J 13 saw himself as unlucky, so he became 13 and the unlucky shadow (he mutated) and the ghosts of the animals probably saw themselves as the trophies worth hunting that vlad made them out to be. Instead of the whole "other dimension" thing the creators pulled, they could've said some became what they wanted, some got corrupted or became what others saw them as, some could be ghosts of concepts/new deities (like overgrowth & tornado), and some could be keepers of the ghost zone

Here are 3 things that made Vlad stupid in Phantom Planet:
    1. Vlad revealing his secret identity to the world is dumb.
    2. Planning to rule the world and getting 500 billion dollars is dumb because Vlad is already super rich.
    3. Vlad didn't get sample of the disasteroid run some test first.

To be fair on that third point, even for Vlad, I'm not sure how easy it would be to get a sample of the asteroid, and it being conveniently made out of a never before mentioned material that just so happens to nullify ghosts is an egregious asspull.
I agree with the second point. Vlad demanding money just seems obligatory. Plus, if he rules the world, he doesn't even need money anymore. It's really bad writing, but ultimately doesn't actually harm the story in any meaningful way.
The first point though. Oh yeah. Absolutely. Vlad revealing his identity with total confidence that his plan is completely and utterly foolproof, and that it wouldn't come back to bite him even if it _did_ succeed, is one of the single most blatantly idiotic things I have ever seen any villain do ever, and is a much more damning flaw since it's such a critical part of the story.

You know what is more interesting than Sam and Danny ending up together and becoming a forced couple without having any development, Danielle Phantom. The reason Danielle Phantom is an more interesting character than Sam was because it could lead to more stories and development for her as well as giving Danny as a role as big brother and mentor. Also, it was mentioned that Sam and Tucker are tired of being sidekicks to Danny. I believe that Danielle could take the role of the sidekick for Danny. Here is what I saw:
Dani Phantom is the biggest example of the show's wasted potential. I never understood why people didn't like her, I never found her annoying, I thought she was cool. I liked seeing Danny act very mature and responsible as well as actually treat her nicely. In other words, he was acting like a big brother. Part of the whole "letting his parents know" thing I mentioned could have stabilized her. Remember those plans I mentioned? It's rumored that Danielle would have been adopted by Danny's parents. If this is true, it could mean Steve would have let Jack and Maddie learn Danny's secret for good. I would have liked this, because I like seeing Danny act like a big brother and not hesitate to save Danielle. I think him becoming a big brother would have made him a more interesting character. Really, Danielle got the shaft, she was left to live on the streets and don't tell Danny didn't introduce her to his parents because he respected her and she didn't need to be under his wing. If he did care, he wouldn't have left her on the streets. She could have met his family and actually develop a connection with each of them, especially Jack since she could have had a better father than Vlad. She needs a family, she needs a home and I seriously doubt she found that off screen given she's half ghost and knows so little about the outside world. She could have become a much better sidekick than Sam or Tucker so that Danny doesn't need to save them when their a target of a ghost, she could have developed more as a character and we could have seen Danny develop even more in his maturity and responsibility. AND this is part of the other problem I mention about too much focus on Sam and Danny's mutual interest... the show stopped developing characters and stop being interested in trying to expand on them or the stories they brought up, more on that later when we talk about the finale. For Danielle, they could have focused on her being a clone, the standard "Am I a real person" kind of thing, he developing a connection with the rest of the Fentons, her wanting to live up to someone worthy of working with Danny and so forth. I honestly find their brother-and-sister type of relationship much more interesting than whether or not he and Sam ever get together. Him being Danielle's big brother made him a much more interesting character than Sam's boyfriend. It's ironic to me there's a 12 year old girl who had potential for much more interesting stories and development as opposed to the relationship and the character the third season focused on for Danny.

another reason was the episode "Girls Night Out" which perpetuates this toxic narrative that "feminists are man haters" (many viewers would interpret that) but the 3 antagonists (Ember Kitty and Spectra) got rid of all the men and brainwashed all of the women (minus Sam Manson and Jazz and Maddie Fenton) because they were having issues with their own boyfriends (Skulker Johnny 13 and Bertrand) it has nothing to do with feminism!

One reason why Vlad went from an intelligent and manipulative villain to a generic villain who wanted to over the world was because of psychosis. Think about it, the main cause for Vlad going on a state of psychosis would be losing Maddie, Danny always rejecting him, losing to Jack, and the prime clone being destroyed. Because of this, he had lost it and no longer wanted Danny as a son. Instead, he chose to antagonize Danny and sees him as a rival.

Tbh while that’s a good explanation on paper, the show has been so sloppily written by this point that I honestly don’t believe for a second that that was the intention behind this change. The reason people like the Danny x Valarie ship is because we actually GOT to see them dating, we got to see their dynamic even if it was generic. I thought Frostbite was a good ally ghost to add into the show. He only really had two appearances though, not enough time for him to be involved with the story much. I also would've liked to see more Clockwork in season 3 and the return of Dark Dan. Dark Dan was Danny's most formidable enemy in the entire show. It appears like he's Danny's own shadow from an alternate future gone wrong, which goes along with the theme "you are your own worst enemy", and Dark Dan is a perfect representation of that and the dark side/shadow of Danny himself.

I should also probably mention that while I was also once part of the DannyXSam fandom; after a while, I've noticed there were many...MANY moments where the two of them acted pretty toxic towards each other.
Sam's often bossy, forcing Danny and Tucker to support her own silly beliefs, she badmouths everything around her that's considered "normal," she barely takes Danny's stress into consideration after he endured so much from both School AND ghost fighting, she's self-righteous (like Current Brian Griffin levels of self-righteousness) and she gave me a negative worldview on Goths for YEARS!
As for Danny; he's often depicted as stupid, klutzy, smug, selfish, short-tempered, cynical, has cheesy superhero one-liners and often makes fool-hearty decisions. However, many of said decisions stem from having to make all manner of sacrifices. He has to protect the town (mostly on his own) on a daily basis, lie to his almost everyone about who he is, lose every chance at a stable relationship...all to protect a world from beings who shouldn't even exist.
In short, while there IS such a thing as Opposites Attract; it only works when said opposites deal with their relationship in a healthy manner and what Butch has done with Danny x Sam was terrible. The fanfiction works based around the couple haven't made that many improvements either

To be honest I'm not entirely sure WHY Sam hung out with Tucker and Danny to begin with. I do see what you mean by the toxic moments but I also know of a lot of moments where they DO stick their neck out for each other and help one another so I'm not saying their entire relationship was bad.
I'm talking about was why did they START being friends? After Danny got his powers, fighting ghosts was mostly all they talked about, but before then, why were they friends? Sam seemed to have no tolerance for Danny and Tucker's attitude towards girls, and she was into occult books, activism, and things that the two boys were neutral towards at best (Like helping her save the frogs in the science lab) and down right against at worst (Like her idea to replace the cafeteria menu). The only thing I can think of that they had in common was 1. being an outcast in high school and 2. video games, but it was revealed in one episode that they didn't even know Sam was a gamer for a long time.

Steve would be like "Why did you make me do this! You're fighting just so you can see how much your franchises, including Fairly OddParents, has fallen from grace after I left Nickelodeon! THINK BUTCH, THINK!!!". Would be fitting to see that since Butch Hartman has become the most fallen hero since Sasuke from the Naruto franchise (although Sasuke redeemed himself at the end of Naruto Shippuden). They look like great concepts on paper, even if they only lasted one episode. All Killgrave has to do is use his mind control but Vlad can overshadow any person to force them to give anything, use his wealth, or his scientific know how. But getting whatever you want so easily does something to a person, and whenever they find something (or someone) they want that they can't have, they grow scarily obsessed and go through horrifying means to take it.

At first you think she pushes her friend because she deeply believes in their potential to be a hero, until later on when it's slowly revealed that Trish just wants to live THROUGH her friend and be a hero herself because she has an overwhelming sense of self righteousness and thinks that she the best person to judge what's best for everyone. In Danny Phantom we see what Tucker would choose to do if he got any power but never Sam (At least not when she wasn't brainwashed). Since the rangers have their own lives and careers they decided to let the veterans take over because for one as past rangers they’re re more than qualified for the position and there’s no reason to hang around the mansion. In Danny’s case the replacements are under Vlad’s payroll and he still had his powers , so him quitting and deliberately losing his powers is dumb as he’s handing the safety of the town to his nemesis

Keep in mind Butch Hartman had to cut his series short. Originally Danny Phantom was suppose to go six seasons plus. It was due to Nickalodian that he had to cut a bunch out of his cartoon and change things to finish with the ending it did and had a set time limit to do so. If (big if) Butch could legal own the serise again it would possibly continue. Sadly at this point it is unknown if he ever will.

He wanted Danny Phantom to be like the Adam West Batman TV series where celebrities would guest star and as a result he'd overspend on getting expensive voice talent. It makes for interesting fun facts like "Hey did you know, Lancer is played by Hell boy?" or "Jacob from twilight is Youngblood?" or "Kill Bill was Clockwork?" but I think that money could have been better spent. Then Butch promised he'd make back what he spent by making a deal with Burger king for a toy tie in line, which did make them money, but not as much as projected.

Nice to see another person bring up Ben 10: Omniverse's terrible retcon. In Ultimate Alien, one alien they fight, Inspector 13, has defensive mechanisms for many alien species, including Osmosians. He also calls Kevin a "hybrid Osmosian", meaning he's treating Osmosians as having their own DNA (or some form of genetic material). In OV, Osmosians are now instead human mutants with random abilities and Kevin's is just absorption. If that is the case, why did Inspector 13 have defensive mechanisms only for the absorbing type of Osmosians? Why did he think Osmosians had DNA/genetic material separate enough from humans to the point that he considered Kevin a hybrid rather than a mutant human?
Answer: Because whoever wrote that retcon didn't take all of the lore into consideration that characters outside of their "false memory" narrative wouldn't fit that mold and would instead contradict it. They couldn't be bothered to explain what Aggregor (you know, that Osmosian warlord) actually was in the show and one of the creators said he was just a failed clone of Kevin. Like other things in Omniverse, they wanted badly to replicate the success of the original series by returning story elements back to how they were (Kevin being a mutant, Ben marrying Kai in the future, etc.) without considering how much it would trample the logic of the overall franchise. At this point, I'm surprised they didn't retcon Anodites out of the picture so that Gwen have magic going for her instead of having alien ancestry like Kevin guessed about her and the Plumbers' Helpers.

I do believe that Butch is *EASILY* the biggest problem when it comes to S3 but I also noticed a couple others when thinking about it. I do agree with the airing of the episodes being weird. Like I only watched the first half of S1, Memory Blank, Reign Storm, & Ultimate Enemy via reruns on Nick until *YEARS* later despite having cable when S3 was originally airing.
My biggest one is that there was *NO* balance, in multiple ways.
    1. A lot of people have pointed out that they weren't really shown in school in S3 besides Forever Phantom & other than Claw of the Wild, we don't really see the other recurring kids that we'd normally see in the school episodes. I know they went on summer break in the S2 finale, but they mentioned/have the school in only 2-3 episodes & this also made having Claw of the Wild so late in S3 very jarring to me. They should moved that episode up to fit with how S2 ended then had more school episodes.
    2. It felt like there was *WAY* too much Vlad in this season due to poor spacing. In S1&2, he's only major in 8 episodes, 2 of which are 2 parters (Bitter Reunions, Maternal Instinct & Million Dollar Ghost for S1; Reign Storm, Ultimate Enemy, Secret Weapons, Masters of All Time & Kindred Spirits for S2). He was in the same amount of episodes for both S2 & 3 but S2 had more episodes. This made his appearances more spaced out & less annoying IMO compared to S3. I understood why he was in so much of S3 bc he's techinally the main villain but Danny Phantom is known for having lots of recurring villains so having Vlad in most of the season made it drag a bit for me.
    3. Butch needs to work on writing non male presenting characters better, (specifically Valerie & Sam for this show)
Both Valerie & Sam 100% *DESERVED BETTER!* Both were in *WAY* too many pivotal episodes in S1&2, and for Valerie to just be in the last 2 episodes of S3 is criminal. If Butch didn't want Danny and Valerie to be endgame (which is still dumb btw), that's understandable but she was too importance to be cast aside the way she was. Her story arc deserved a resolution. As for Sam, I agree with everyone else's views on her.
    4. I do agree that the specials should've been spaced out better. I think it would've made sense for them to do 1 special per season and had it end with either The Ultimate Enemy or Reality Trip

Had Nickelodeon for some reason decided to continue the series and give it season 4 of more, it probably would have fallen from grace. Could we have gotten a much better season? Of course, but being fair to Butch, he did an decent job. I found the new villains to be entertaining and at least interesting in design. While Vlad's goals of world conquering definitely came out of nowhere, I didn't take much of a issue with it because Vlad always had stupid or ambiguous goals, so at least world domination was something reasonable for a villain. My main issues with season 3 lie with it rarely taking itself seriously. The episode with Valerie and Danielle was easily the best of season because of the change of tone, but the fact that we never saw the Vlad and Valerie conflict get resolved is still one of the biggest issues with this season.

Season 3 already fell from grace and luster when Steve Marmel left. Regardless of Butch's work on the show, it doesn’t change the fact that he clearly has time to finish the plot-lines that needed to be done, only to squander the potential anyway by focusing on something that satisfies only him. Take out all the things that Butch considers as unnecessary and look at the result: an aimless show without any stakes and plot to save it from its misery. If you still think Butch is a decent guy you still look up to, then it his fault for wasting 2 million dollars on a 44-minute episode that could’ve been way cheaper than that and followed up with a few more seasons before reaching a desired final battle between Danny and his evil alternate self and whatever deal Vlad has with Fright Knight along with the two artifacts in his hand. The only hope left is to linger on fallen memories of a cult classic and wait for some DP-related graphic novel by some different author to release to the public, but who cares? It’ll just be delayed to 2023/2024 or the author of the book will die from COVID anyway for all that I can care. Besides, whether Steve or Hartman have input on the book or not, rest assured that it will not live up to people’s expectations regardless if it’s a reboot of the show, set after “Phantom Planet”, starting from “Eye to Eye” and ignoring most of Season 3 besides “De-stabilized” and episodes involving Danny's ice powers, or takes place in a alternate timeline Dark Danny's probably gonna screw over.

Oh, yeaaaaaah, the “ghosts were not dead people really” was the worst part. Well, seasons 1 and 2 were not really logical too, but at least they had some chemistry between characters (like Vlad and Danny’s twisted father/son relationship, that we could see in Bitter Reunions, Maternal Instinct, Ultimate Enemy and even in Reign Storm that if they kept developing it much more forcefully, like in a lot of fanfiction (shock, really, but some works are waaaaaaay better than the actual show), concentrating on Vlad and Danny’s bond as the only half ghosts in the whole world and developing it to one of real compassion and indecisiveness that would really add a lot of qualitative drama to the show and development for both Danny and Vlad) (or, as you said, Danny and Valery). That would have been what I would really love to see. And Sam and Tucker… yeah, they are both bad friends in a lot of situations, like, I don’t really believe in Danny, Sam and Tucker’s friendship. Jazz has more development than they do, though there really was a good large base to do everything greatly. Just Vlad’s initial story and his potential father/son bond with Danny had all my attention, Tucker and Sam and Danny could go though realistic road of maturing and growing as people, correcting their selfish behavior, learning to appreciate one another not as some profit, but real people, starting to be more mature and understanding, but with remaining strong character, and at last the theme of half-dead boy itself in early 2000s was a real blast that could make now with good writers the hit show! • @joshuaasaad260
      @joshuaasaad260 Před 3 lety +2

@BlankBlares I'm baaack~ Just like I said i would be. After mulling it over for a few days i think i got it.
Let's start with the few things season 3 got right. Norctune and d-stabilized, that's it. Just for his voice and design alone Norctune should be kept In.
I would start season three off with an episode about Vlad. Here he would use the skeleton key to travel to clockwork's keep. Vlad learns about the alternate timeline and the birth of dark Danny. The episode would end with Vlad flying off cackling to himself.
With this we could tie up some loose ends. Like Vlad wanting Danny to join him. He never could get him to give up and give in. But after learning about the events of ultimate enemy he knows what could make Danny give up. So he would split Danny and his friends up. We could have an episode where Vlad shows up professing some evil scheme he then suppresses Danny's powers for an extended period of time. One of the interesting things phantom planet implies is that tucker and sam live vicariously through Danny. And so in this episode Danny would actually enjoy being human again albeit temporarily. Enjoying being human again without losing half of his personality or turning evil. Of course Danny's friends are seemingly more frustrated with the situation than he is. They would argue of course. In the end Danny's powers would return and Vlad's 'scheme' foiled. Although Danny would not forget his friends reaction to him being human again.
One of the things that built upon and dropped in season one was Jazz's relationship with her parents. It was well known to me at least that Jasmine had been a better parent to Danny then his actual parents. We could have Vlad orchestrate a falling out between Jazz and her parents. This would lead to her moving away.
In another episode we could have Vlad pit undergrowth against our heroes. With clear instructions to seduce Sam to the dark side. This could be revealed to Danny at the end of the episode. Causing their friendship to end.
Jazz moved away, Sam turned evil, all that's left is Tucker. Speaking of Tucker, he starts getting jealous of Danny again. Vlad sends ghosts after Danny.Ghosts that force him to use all of his powers. After he defeats them the townspeople praise him. Valerie shows up and hunts Danny, which gets him thinking. Tucker steals some Fenton tech and goes to technics. Rigging the stolen tech so that it would bond with him when shot by ectoplasm. Of course Danny and Tucker get into an argument about it and Danny says something awful to Tucker. After that Tucker's ghost half shows up and he goes off to fight it dying in the process.
At school Danny's grades begin declining. His parents of course get on him about this and tell him to get his grades up. Danny gets angry at them and storms off. The next day at school Danny winds up opening up to Lancer about some of his personal problems. Vlad tricks Lancer into injesting nanobots that he can self-destruct on demand. Some time passes and Danny decides to reveal his secret to Lancer. Vlad detonates the nanobots making it seem like Lancer died of shock.
Vlad gives Skulker a new idea for hunting Danny. Skulker kidnaps Danny's parents and holds them hostage. Danny goes off to face him and beats him. But is unable to save his parents.
The events of D-stabilized more or less take place. With some slight changes. Vlad at the end would say that he really had planned on helping Danielle. He pretends to be pretty banged up and says he would take time to recover. Danielle would also decide to stay in amity park after learning about what happened.
Vlad in secret enlists the help of some ghost and sends them after Valerie and Danielle. The ghosts are defeated by our heroines and they are left puzzled.
Valerie runs into manny times in which Danny precedes to attack her. Eventually she gets the upper hand and holds him at gunpoint. Danny then begs her to shoot him which she refuses to do. He winds up telling her about his recent string of bad luck. Leaving some details out of course.
I would choose to have the next few episodes focus on Danny and Valerie. Here we could do such episodes to build their relationship up. Like some of season 3 episodes but Valerie is there kicking ass. Vlad is trying to kill her and Danielle of course.
Valerie discovers Danny's secret and the two of them get into a argument. After a period of not talking Danny goes to Vlad. Clockwork appears before Danielle and Valerie while the two were chatting. He tells them about the events in ultimate enemy and that dark Danny disappeared from the clocktower. Which means he exist inside of time again, Danny becomes dark Danny. Valerie and Danielle rush to Vlad's mansion , but they're to late. Valerie manages to save human Danny before Dan kills him. After retrieving weapons from Fenton works and getting into another argument with Valerie Danny goes to fight Dan. He manages to separate Dan and Vlad. Both humans recombine with their ghost halves and have one last fight. The series would with Vlad defeated and Danny and Valerie moving forward with their future.
How would you write season three?

I don’t hate season 3 but they definitely could have made it better. Like the only Plot the got resolved was “Wolf” “Claw of the wild” isn’t a bad episode in my opinion but it’s kinda inconsistent Because of the fact this is the 3rd Summer in the shows so logically Everyone Should Be Older. But I know it’s cartoon so whatever but with the Consistency of Season 1 One & 2 we’re with the plot lines (minus the multiple summer as I mentioned) you would think they would pay attention to details like that.

nickelodeon didn't promote season 3 that well, they wanted to hurry up and get the show to end by having a week of new episodes airing on the weekdays and never properly advertised what time the episodes would air do to Cyma Zarghami becoming president of nickelodeon while season 3 was in production and the retcon of the ghosts was obviously because of butch's religion, also, nickelodeon demanded that danny and sam end up with each other and both nickelodeon and butch's religious beliefs are against interracial couples and that's probably why steve marmel got fired because he wanted danny to end up with valerie

Every time Butch Hartmann claims that the ghosts were monsters from another dimension from the start his nose grows. Above all, I think they could have brought both under one roof. Let's just say that in the spirit world there is an in-between world. Most people in the spirit world are the souls of the dead and in the in-between world there are monster ghosts that co-exist with the others but cause trouble every now and then. That would have kept the potential open for another season and explained everything clearly and plausibly.

Your personal rule that you have to like both characters for their ship to work is stupid subjective nonsense. I can understand and agree that ships need proper development but requiring you to like both characters is super arbitrary. It’s complaints like this which detract from S3 criticisms and make it come across as partly just people mad a ship they disliked became canon.
