This loss closed the book on the window for these Phillies teams from 07-11. That great 4-man rotation of Lee, Halladay, Hamels and Oswalt never materialized to be dominant force like we saw from the Braves in the 90s. They haven't made the playoffs since, as well.

While you are correct that the Lee-Halladay-Hamels-Oswalt rotation didn't become quite the dominant force it was expected to be, the bigger problem for those Phillies teams was they were unable to manufacture runs. Better pitchers like Carpenter took away their ability to mash, and sluggers like Howard, Utley, etc. struggled to manufacture runs without slugging the ball.
Also, Brad Lidge was never the same after his perfect 2008 season.

No analytics. No pitch count concerns. No concerns about going through the order a third or fourth time. Just the eye test, and a manager trusting his starter in a winner-take-all Game 5, and riding him to the win. Yes, games can be won 1-0 if your pitcher can make that lone run stand up.
