Wow I Am sO gLaD to see Seotaiji in this channel cause I usually come for Dreamcather LOL
Seotaiji is the icon of 90s of Kpop and call as "President of Culture" in Korea for long time even til now. He was just 20 years old when he was debut.. Yeah jus tWeNtY... He made all the changes in the video til age 24.. Even the video does not mention and explanate everything.
He is my favorite artist who inspired me and affected my life so positive. A reason why I am stan with Dreamcatcher is also affected by him cause he made me sick with all the love songs of most kpop theme. And you know, DC is a game changer in present Kpop industry with uniqueness. Also DC covered Seotaiji's "Regrets of the Times."
After Taiji Boys disbanded he retired on 1996, Seotaiji retuened as a solo artist with his band in 2000. His solo albums and song are really good too. His last album was drop on 2014 and the title song of "Chrismalowin" is for spooky Halloween & Christimas season. I hope you do some reactions for his music some days :)

Thank you for reacting to this. I liked Seo Taiji first and then BTS. I loved that Seo Taiji did his 25th time Travalar show feat. BTS. That was mind-blowing. It was a really special concert. Seo Taiji even mentioned that BTS was taking over from him to make K-pop known worldwide. BTS also respect Seo Taiji. He's a great example for them. Seo Taiji was unique just like BTS is unique now. I only like Seo Taiji and BTS from South Korea. I do respect all musicians for there hard work from Korea. That legendary concert, you can find it on CZcams. The only sad thing is it doesn't have english subtitles. Warm greetings from The Netherlands 👍💜🍀🤘🇱🇺🌷🤗

Yeah I love this~ ^^ It's so great to learn about the history. Another very influential group in K hip-hop and Kpop was Epik High. I know you reacted to the song they did with Suga, but I would definitely recommend them too! Afaik they are also a huge inspiration to BTS also. They even had an album/book called Map the Soul.

I suggest "History of KPOP in 20 minutes" also by DKDKTV; very insightful. There's also a video call "what happened to G Dragon" ; this is also an interesting one. It talks about the history of G Dragon and why he was given the title of King of Kpop.

If Seo Taiji had been born in America, he would have become a legend beyond Michael Jackson.
He is the only KPOP singer in the world who performs rock, heavy metal, pop, ballad and dance.

Just for your info Bro Landon, here in Malaysia, we actually have a group that quite similar to Seotaiji and Boys, the group is called 'KRU'...their discography almost similar & they debut in 1993...only the difference is, KRU not from Metal or Rock background, and they're a bunch of siblings with same passion, Music. KRU quite successful back then in Malaysia, now they became entrepreneur with a lot of companies.

I actually think is sad that something that started so uniquely and unapologetic became such a toxic industry today, with little to no uniqueness

Late comment ... Just to be sure that there is an understanding ... Seo Taiji is not KPop, not a KPop act & not under a KPop label. By KPop, I of course mean the KPop idol industry, not just Korean popular music in general, which can also be construed as K-Pop itself, without using the K-Pop industry moniker. He inspired, inadvertently, what was to become this KPop industry. If you notice, he & his Boys group are singing + dancing (& rapping), under a new type of music genre that SK had never really seen much of before, which is Hiphop. Actually his group's music style was not actually pure hiphop, but rather hiphop-rock. This Singing + Dancing technique & approach was not new in S.Korea, but what he did with it, by incorporating hiphop/rapping, poplock/break dancing, some rock music elements & crazy fashion clothes+hairstyles, is what blew up. This resonated with the Korean youth. Not only that, but rebellion & social commentary lyrics mentioned in the video amplified it so much more, because he was basically complaining about the things going on at the time, including the backlash & censorship he was getting once his Boys band took off. Thus K-Pop basically copied the platform of singing & dancing as used by Seo Taiji & Boys.
Today, Seo Taiji has symbolically passed the torch to BTS alone & not to other KPop acts before & after, because of the same concepts & mission that both Taiji & BTS have had, which is that mountainous load of social commentary lyricism, with both groups having gotten backlash & censorship by government & critics. But if there was one other thing you could learn from this, is that the start of the KPop industry was inspired & influenced by, not really a pop singer, but rather a rock & metal musician, Seo Taiji. All because he resonated with the youth while doing a hiphop group at the time & not as a rock group. That is the big IRONY of KPop, inspired by a rock/metal artist, but instead the new industry turned into a pop, R&B & rap style of music, & did not turn into a rock/metal music industry. Otherwise, it would have indeed become named as a K-Rock idol system & not K-Pop (which KPop itself is actually a term invented by the West, of course).

At that time, Korean rock lovers hated Seo Tai-ji very much. The best album selected by rock lovers in 1999 was Limp Bizkit , and the worst was Seo Tae-ji's album. My Finnish friend said Seo Tai-ji's music was too POP.

whoever wrote that comment sounds like a kpopie and not a army lmao. bts did pave the way as koreans have said multiple times even seo taiji and psy and other og's have said it because the pave the way title is not for korea but for the west and other countries/regions. excluding korea and japan. they couldve specified that but they really wanted to downplay the bts paved the way title. also people always bring up seo taiji to downplay bts even though seo taiji only passed the torch to bts and not any of the groups that came before bts. idk its just funny to me how kpopies try to manipulate they make it sound all educational when they try to discredit bts but if you research you see right through their games.
