Semmangudi was surely one rare gem of a Carnatic musician of the GoldenEra(1920/30--60), and essentially the worthiest disciple of Maharajapuram Viswanatha Iyer who himself imbibed the purest music by merely listening to the greatest Nagaswara and Tavil maestros who were the hi-fi propagators of the Trinity music and ruled the Carnatic skiles in Thanjavur district.Despite an impaired voice mechanism, S'gudi proved that mastered the art in all its purest and subtlest aspects,enthralled millions.
