    I'm just now starting to learn how to sew at 24. I'm a wife and mother of 3 girls. My husband is 6'4 145lbs with a broad chest, i can't for the life of me find a shirt to fit him, or pants that'll stay up... Is there any way I could take his pants in by hand? I have a machine but I prefer hand sewing. Also, is there a specific pattered used for hemming denim?
    I plan on teaching my children how to sew once they are old enough :)

  • @RudieObias
    @RudieObias Před 5 lety +9

    This is completely wrong! You want to replace the hole in the fabric with another piece of iron-on jean material first. You patch up the hole with the material by sewing around the seam and hole and then iron it to seal the tear. You DON'T sew up the tear completely! Otherwise, the jeans will come out uneven in the crotch and still be prone to future tears. I guarantee these jeans will rip again after a few wears.

    • @AspiringGent
      @AspiringGent Před 5 lety +4

      You're right and at 2:50 in the video I made a reference to the iron on fusing because in the case of this pant it ripped from being worn out. It wouldn't hurt to add it even to a fresh tear for that fact. As far as it being uneven with a minor straight line tear you won't see a noticeable difference unless the person's jeans are painted on and that's a bigger problem in my opinion. But great points and some jeans are so worn out that it wouldn't be worth saving.
