- In 1986, Tommy was released from prison after Sonny "pulled some strings". Sonny decides to send Tommy to Vice City, realizing that he is too well known in Liberty City, also wanting to become involved with drugs. Tommy flies to Vice City along with Harry and Lee, meeting Ken Rosenberg at the airport, before immediately driving to a drug deal at the docks. The drug deal at the docks turns into an ambush, and Harry, Lee, and one of the drug dealers are all killed. Only Tommy, Ken, and the other dealer escape the attack. Tommy informs Sonny of the ambush and is reminded that Sonny is "not a man to be screwed with", who also makes it clear that he wants his money and his drugs back.

lmao I wouldn't say GTA's gone soft but back in the day when graphics were more cartoony they were able to get away with more provocative shit... This is by far one of the uppermost iconic GTA games that formed the foundation for what the series is today

When I first played this game and saw this cutscene, the moment the ambush happened, me and Tommy said “oh shit” at the same time 😂.
Legit didn't know the man they made the deal with at the beginning was Lance's brother (I never beat Vice City Stories, so I assumed Victor died at the end of it).

After the final mission Keep Your Friends Close, the sixth and final call would depict Phil Cassidy would call Tommy Vercetti, informing Tommy that he is recovering and is glad that he killed Leo Teal, Ricardo Diaz and Sonny Forelli for his betrayals. On the other hand sure, you can find some symbols. Sonny helping Tommy after serving 15 years in prison can be sang as "Take these broken wings and learny to fly again..." as Sonny gave Vercetii money to have a kickstart.

Okay, there's no way in hell that the dealer who gets shot is the same Victor Vance from GTA Vice City Stories. They hardly look or even sound alike! I'm pretty sure it's their other brother, Pete, the one they mentioned in VCS. Either that or they just changed a lot of things around. I dunno, just seems off-putting.

It makes no sense. Why would he screw up the deal and have his own money and drugs stolen? He has more to lose than gain. If he was to actually set it up he'd have it where he gains both money and drugs but he got neither. It was Diaz who set them both up.... Diaz knows everything drug related going on in Vice City.... hell he even kills a guy in his organisation for making like 2% of his possible money of course he ain't gonna let this deal slide that's 3 to 20 million he's not earning.
