  • It is estimated that 25% of children have an underlying undiagnosed vision problem. It means that around six children in a classroom are going to be struggling due to an underlying vision problem.
In this video, Dr. Heather McBryar FCOVD from Amplify EyeCare Chattanooga discusses the importance of talking to your child if you suspect they have a vision problem. And completing the checklist on our website based on what they say. One of the helpful things you can do as a parent to identify if a vision problem might be present is to simply talk to your children about the things that they may be experiencing and struggling with. Another good idea is to speak to the teachers as well because they are in a unique position to observe your children doing different things throughout the day that involve vision, which you may not be able to observe at home.
Once you get their input, you can use that to complete a symptom checklist. The next step is to take that checklist to one of our developmental optometrists in Chattanooga, TN, who can help review the checklist and conduct a pediatric eye exam to determine if your child has a vision problem that could benefit from a vision therapy program.
