Correction at 21:10 kelsian would NOT get an experience counter from Vito dying because that ability has not resolved yet.
I was thinking the same, the only way would be if Jordan let the effect Resolve before starting to activate his own effects but the video was cut as if he did it in response
I was thinking the same thing because of the stack
I had to do a double take when I watched it, I knew something was off when he added an experience counter
@@monkerer1221 he wouldnt have been able to let the effects resolve because intrepid hero was being targeted by mangara so if he had let the effects resolve he wouldnt have been able to activate the ability
the only way he couldve gotten the experience counter is if he had activated intrepid hero first, held priority, and then fired off kelsien
@@jackos5d851 Jordan could have let just Kelsien resolve, as that was at the top of the stack when he activated his Samut. Not sure why he would, though, for this exact reason.
The look Ash gave when her Sol Ring got popped... "SO YOU HAVE CHOSEN DEATH!?"
i felt that in my soul
Oh yea. There was fire there.
She really personified her playmat qith the glare
24:30 One correction here - we cast all of the spells while Etali's trigger is resolving. We don't cast one spell, resolve it, then cast the next spell. So no matter what order the spells get cast in, the Sorcerer is going to be on the stack when Ulamog's trigger is put on the stack (Ulamog's trigger will go on the stack above all of the spells you cast), so Kelsien could not target the Sorcerer.
Yessir🙌🙌
Was about to say this, thank you!
Correct, cast triggers always mess people up
Came down to see if someone said this. The same goes Villainous Wealth and Mizzix's Mastery.
They've messed the cast triggers up a few times, it's confusing for sure but it may help if they resolve triggers like Etalis by layering the stack with the cards being cast, then putting cast triggers on the stack, then resolving like you're supposed to. Clutters up the stack but it's what it's there for.
16:06 Lol, Ashlen's reaction is money! 😂😂 Feels on that Sol Ring getting destroyed willy nilly
That was probably the MOST decisive victory Ive seen in a while
Actually might not be. Murph and Ashlen could have definitely attacked Jordan the turn they gotten the opportunity to Sylvan lock Jordan early so the cards would have came maybe a few turns too late.
Who would have thought that Samut would be the most powerful deck at the table (/s)
@@jasonholmes5714 yes and no, it was made powerful due to Sylvan Library. If anything, this is the demonstration of just how powerful the Library is.
Great to see Kelsien on the table. I have a deathtouch version of the deck with 16 ways to give him deathtouch. It was the second commander deck I ever built and it makes a lot of enemies very quickly
Best moment of the video is when Jake quietly says "This is the power of being silent" while Etali is casting a bunch of stuff.

27:33 Mephidross Vampire should only trigger when Ashlen's creatures deal damage to creatures, not players...
easy mistake with drana just there but correct
@@freondtd Pretty lazy mistake
Yeah. the one she needed for that 'combat damage to a player' effect is Necropolis Regent. "Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to a player, put that many +1/+1 counters on it."
Or, Curse of Stalked Prey. "Whenever a creature deals combat damage to enchanted player, put a +1/+1 counter on that creature."
@@GuyrillaBraun Not really. The vast majority of vampires (hell, creatures in general) trigger on damage to players, not creatures. Easy to default to that instead of damage to creatures.
@@ZaberFangAT and that's exactly why it's a lazy mistake
Was wild to see a game without blue, super fun!
Jordan's deck felt way more powerful than the rest to me. The fact that it co$t$ double than Jake's and triple than Ash's and Murph's seems like a good indication, even if RL cards distort the analysis. And man, Sylvan Library is just busted.
Yeah that power level just didn’t seem even, game was alright but they’ve Defo had better
Naw, all that cost is tied up in the original duel lands, they're about even cost-wise without those.
I think the Sylvan Library got him ahead and then no one was able to effectively clear his board. Nobody removed his commander or Etali and he just snowballed with no resistance.
We thought the same thing. Came here to say this. The game really didn't feel satisfying to watch. Won't go into details on the end but. Super big "meh" feels because of the unbalanced decks.
Also difference came from fact that it was straight away Naya good stuff while all other were made more about their commanders gimmick like reanimating vampires, or assassinating creatures to get experience.
I love kelsien, one of my favorite commanders, the "Oops no creatures" commander

Is there anything better than opening up CZcams app to see there’s a new episode of Extra Turns??? Love it. Thanks to everyone at the Command Zone!!
I think Eladamri refusing to tutor for Thoracle and the “Vedalken Orrery for food” are my two favorite ads this channel has done, easily.
"But Kolaghan's Command only deals damage to target creature or player-"
When reading the card doesn't explain the card, the oracle text's got you covered. Gatherer or Scryfall are my go-tos, but anything like them works.
It's simply an older card. Older than the phrase "to any target" specifically. Back then there was a rule to redirect player damage to planeswalkers. Around Dominaria there was an errata for every "creature or player" card to any target.
Fun episode, but idk, felt super power mismatched. The second someone slams dual land into enlightened tutor sylvan library they are threat number 1 on the table and it's not close. Everyone kept poking each other and ignoring Jordan, Jordan should have been archenemy absolutely immediately. Every card in that deck seemed to be power, even the lands.
Still, beauty of Commander is even when you have a game that's not that close and power mismatched, everyone can have a good time, get some archenemy action in, just laugh with friends. Definitely a great episode, especially if you wanted a quicker and easier to edit one, but the power balancing was not there (which I get sometimes happens, maybe the other decks on a nut draw can match it step for step)
Doesn't even need to be a dual land. Just when someone turn 2 Sylvans, you attack them to cut their resources.
Yeah, Ashlen plays some tapped lands and Fifth Dawn jank vampires, Jake goes for the jankier Equipment build... aaaand then there is Jordan who played more money in his first 2 turns than Ashlen and Murph combined for the entire game. I think this game is a great example for a power level discussion gone wrong and also a great example why tutors have no place in anything under power level 8.
@@SonnigesDeutschland disagree on the tutors not belonging in decks under powerlevel 8. How else are people going to assemble kaldra or other fun things? I also run tutors just to make some decks work. It's not necessarily the tutor but more the pieces that are being tutored which spike the power level. Sylvan library is just an extremely strong card especially combined with etali or other cast from top of library effects
@@camael4209 Yes, that's definitely right. I'd never complain about your power level if you use your tutors on Kaldra pieces. But you gotta admit that this is a fringe case and the vast majority of times people tutor for answers or combo pieces. This flexibility goes around the Singleton philosophy imo.
@@SonnigesDeutschland Tutors can also be budget options. Like instead of running Parellel Lives AND Doubling Season, you can run 1 + a Tutor, and save half the cost.. Also nothing wrong with combo strats, imo combo wins are more fun to lose to than Voltron/combat (because if everyone dies at the same time, 1 player isn't left out twiddling their thumbs waiting for everyone else to finish.. Hence why I basically no longer make Voltron type decks.) But as for me, the main reason I try to limit Tutors isn't for any of those reasons, but mainly to make games feel different and not always the same (I'd rather see different cards and win in different ways, than just tutor for the same cards every game.) Though if 1 card is really important to your deck, then I'd run a Tutor for it.
"I will take this damage before he gets any bigger" proceeds to get bigger before damage lol
I love the fact whenever i think about making a certain deck, an episode of extra turns comes up with murph and hes playing that commander
Jordan started a new Ancient Grudge by icing Ashlen's Sol Ring
Its an understatement to say I’ve been struggling depression the past week. I often wonder to myself how long i can maintain this way. These videos are EXACTLY what i needed tonight. @@helderboymh appreciate those words so much.
I love the eladamri's call ad so much XD
At 9:50, what is Ashlen threatening with one mana? I can't think of any commonly played Commander cards that would be helpful in this situation, and I checked her decklist - the only cards she has for one mana at instant speed are tutors. What I'm saying is that this is the mother of all bluffs.
Fatal push
@@elil7945 I don't think Fatal Push really sees much play in casual Commander. Too many of the things you want to kill in Commander are big expensive creatures, so even as efficient as they are, cards like Fatal Push and Lightning Bolt don't really make the cut.
Lightning Bolt killing a Gaea's Cradle would have been awesome
Tragic Slip is probably what she was bluffing as it'd allow Drana to kill the Cradle. It isn't hugely popular but it sees some niche play.
It is hilarious how badly Jake got picked on while being out of the game for the most part. Which sucks, because that deck is why I watched the video.
Yea I was kinda bummed as well. His board got so aggressively answered despite much larger threats on board. Hopefully we get to see a Kodama showing in the future
At work when I got this notification. Can’t wait to Get home and watch!
Jake why? I haven't finished the episode, but making the cradle a creature? The land with the best value for you, and you made it easier to destroy.

The only reason to nissa gaea's craddle is to activate ir once again
@@carlosdias854 you're right, but he attacked with it after untapping and turning it into a creature. A regular forrest would have been sufficient for all of his goals and not leave his most important land open to even more options of targeted removal.

I feel like an addict, how thirsty I am for more of these episodes.
Most wholesome part is the very Intro where murph says wish me luck and Josh says good luck murph. So nice
I’m glad we get these more typical commander games in extra turns, I like seeing weird and new commanders but sometimes it’s nice to see older commanders
10:05 - Ashlen turns one open black mana into a free attack with Olivia... Sun Tzu would be proud
Dear god who wouldnt destroy a craddle if given an opportunity like that, there's no way she was not bluffing

@@stevieboiser2304 owhh you mean it like that. Yeah nevermind I thought you meant Like the correct most up-to-date version.
@@helderboymh Nahh I meant the version that each player actually uses in their deck. Most mtg gameplay seems to just post whatever the first result on gatherer is but all the Command Zone videos seem to use the exact edition that each player has in their deck which is awesome!
Jordan's Deck seems to be at least one to two powerlevels above the rest, or was he just very lucky with his draws?
its more like no one stopped him. Usually a deck like olivia and Kodama can get just as out of hand, but almost all of the removal was targeted at jake and murphs creatures as they had the earliest board states, while ashlen seemed to have a slow draw in a deck that is about being resilient to removal, which is much better in long drawn out games.
@@jayrpg9114 that Kodama cannot get out of hand easily.

Need to see Jordan on more stuff. Give this man a spot on Game Knights!
Jake's death made me laugh so hard. Keep up the good work. Hope y'all do more extra turns
Edit: typo
The Keeps segment was amazing!!
I'm not sure how everyone didn't realize that Jordan was archenemy immediately. That was a very expensive ($$$ wise) first few turns. They may be playing a little friendly because that board state was obviously going to pop off.
yea the moment you see the og duals, you know theyre packing heat
@@devashannaidoo6877 why, because they have expensive cards? I know people that purposely get a foil version of every card in their deck for bling, but it doesn't mean their deck is overpowered. None of the cards he played in the first 2 turns should have made you feel like he was arch enemy because of their expense. Once he got the library in play, they should have been hitting him to get his life total down so he couldn't use it. Because he played a dual land, give me a break. It's a slightly better check or shock land. The only reason they're expensive is because of their rarity, not their power.
@@foddersfollies7494 I said he was packing heat. Didnt out right say or accuse him of bringing an overpowered deck to the table. Noone puts OG duals into a deck that's similar to a precon level of play 🤣
@@devashannaidoo6877 if they have them, they do. Hell, I run Taiga in Grumgully, Scrubland in Athreos, etc... I wouldn't consider either of those decks to higher power than a 7. I have the cards, they're pretty, so why wouldn't I run them?
@@devashannaidoo6877 also, targeting Jordan because he has Sylvan Library in play is a smart decision. Targeting him because he has OG duals in his deck, well, that just reeks of jealousy.
kind of surreal to see another jordan who also thoroughly enjoys slaying enemies with samut & friends. my absolute fave!
Totally not me pausing everything i have been doing cuz this is the best notification i have gotten today
Jordan's Enlightened Tutor play be like "I'm gonna search my *library* for Sylvan *Library* , then shuffle my *library* and put the Sylvan *library* on top of my *library* "
Quite a few rules issues in this episode, still good though
Can anyone tell me why in the early turns no one attacked the player with a sylvan library?!…😑
It's the illusion that he was already taking a level amount of damage. It happens in a lot of games: one player pays a lot of life, so by disrupting their own life total it creates the illusion of balance when opponents attack someone else. Everyone's life is going down at the same rate, but only one player is using his life loss to his advantage
@@caseywellington4761 yeah, once someone plays a sylvan library you pressure their life immediately not just leave them alone. Not to mention they saw like 3 tutors from him. He should’ve been the target from the very beginning
@@shundo8460 yeah it was still bad threat assessment

Kelsian wouldn't get the experience counter when vito died, the ability would've fizzled in the stack?
Exactly. I'm a newbie and I knew that. I was shocked that that somehow slipped through.
Depends. They could have let Kelsien's ability resolve first before Jordan untaps Mangara and attempts to exile the Hero. Since that's the way they played, it seems that's what they went with.
@@Natedogg2 it could work like that if that's what Jordan wanted to allow, but Jordan didn't want to pass priority back around the table. He took an action instead of passing and letting the damage resolve.
@@Natedogg2 Jordan wouldn't have wanted Murphy to have another experience counter so I see no way he thought about exiling Vito and then decided to let the experience counter triggering damage resolve and then exile Vito. All in all pretty easy to determine it was a mistake which no one is going to hate them for. It's just fun to point them out. Makes us plebs feel smart. 🤓
@@josephpayton7522 There was no indication one way or the other if they were letting the ability resolve or not. But since the players agreed on the game state and Kelsien triggering, it seems they're in agreement that they had let the ability resolved, even if they didn't make it explicitly clear with their words.
I really like these shows. I just wish they were longer with more explaining and joking around during and in-between turns.
NOTE: At 20:34, Kelsien's ability is actually on the stack when Vito is sacced and there should not have been an experience counter gained.

quick correction to the last statement: Jordan can only attack with the vigilance creatures multiple times, as the others dont get untapped again after the second combat phase and as the mana pool gets emptied on phase switch, he can only activate Selvala one more time.
Doesnt change the outcome, as avacyn alone is enough to kill everyone, but for a similar situation its important to keep in mind, in case you have no vigilance creatures
It actually doesn't work that way, because he can choose to hold selvala untapped (out of combat) and then tap her to activate the enchantment after each combat step, untapping everything each time.
Well, yes and no, since he can leave the selvalas back to pay for another activation of aggravated assault to untap the non vigilance creatures on those extra combats.
@@Petronio39 yeah but selbaöa Costs to activate and he doesn't keep his mana between steps

I love this team. They should always run Extra Turns.
Much happier to watch this over anything with post
11:25 how is possible to get 2 experience counters if the creature that Kelsien attacked is the same?
It would be fun in the future to know the price of the decks and to feel a little what a "good" deck can cost
Jake was absolutely bullied this game, you hate to see it
So, in 11:32 Kelsien gets 2 experience counters. I'm confused with that. It gets a counter for each ping he dealt to that creature when it dies? Thanks in advance.
Yep each ping is checking if the condition is met ( the creature dying) and then if it does that part of the ability triggers.
Yeah, each activation creates a separate trigger.
12:56 how the hell can you cast your Commander at the end step of someone else without having a vedalken orrery or something like that?

WHAT AN EPISODE! 🔥
Great stacks, great Decks, great people, great win!
I feel like I'm making a mistake considering I haven't seen any other comments mentioning it, but how do you get more red mana to pay for the infinite combat steps via Aggravated Assault?
Selvala lets you add mana in any combination of colours. I was thinking the same, but the answer is hidden on her text - it isn't colourless mana, it's any combination you want.
Josh’s playmat on the desk at the beginning of the episode?
Looks like the double-sided Arlinn, Pack's Hope playmat from Midnight Hunt.

I love the guy growing his hair out at mid length using a hot iron.
So that whole stack interaction between Murph, Jordan, and Ashlen, when Kelsien targets Vito then a couple more effects go on the stack then Ashlen sacs Vito to Yahenni, Murph says he gets an experience counter for Kelsien’s ability from Vito, but wouldn’t that ability not have resolved yet because everything else resolved before that ability?
Correct. They messed that up
At 21:39 Am I missing something, or can Kolaghan's Command not hit Gideon? It's target creature or player... not planeswalker?
All direct damage spells that target players can have the damage redirected to a Planeswalker. So things like shock or lightning bolt can hit Planeswalkers too, just fyi. Edit: actually wait, I forgot they changed that rule back when dominaria came out, so I need to clarify further. Any card that says "target creature or player" specifically, that came out before dominaria is considered to instead say "any target". So they can still hit Planeswalkers, it's just different as to how. That's why they changed lightning bolt to say "any target" when they started to reprint it after that change. Basically they didn't want to change how any of the old cards worked, they just wanted to change things moving forward.
man every time I see Samut played I just can't believe it- the card reads like it's going to be a bit quirky but it's just insane. It's so outrageously explosive, flash it in on end step and then when you untap, everything balanced by summoning sickness is broken instantly, and then broken again by the untap ability. I've never seen a game with her where she doesn't kill everyone faster than they can react
That was awesome!!!
11:33
Why 2? Shouldn't it be just one? The text of the card says that when ONLY the creature he dealt damage dies he gets the counter. Am I missing something here?
Kelsien puts a delayed triggered ability when he deals damage, waiting for the creature to die.
Essentially, using the ability twice on a creature essentially gives it the ability "when this creature dies, kelsian the plague's owner gets an experience counter" twice. So when the creature dies, it triggers both the abilities.

21:30 kolaghan’s command says “deal 2 damage to target creature or player” why was was it able to hit gideon?
Kolagans command was printed before they allowed people to directly target planeswalkers, it used to be that any non combat damage to a player could be redirected to a PW.
After the rules change they errataed all old cards that said "target creature or player" to "any target".
Looking at the kelsien deck I can see what he was going for, but a lot more could have been achieved with just some deathtouch enchantments and equipment.
Jordan in tapping with that Etali was the game sincher
How Could ashlen destroy gideon with the kolaghans command ? It says creature or player and he is a planeswalker. He also did not activate the 0 ability! What am i missing?
Great opening
Can you explain how Kelsien received two experience counters when it pinged the incubation Druid twice? I didn’t think that was how it worked. I thought he only gets one experience counter when a creature he pinged dies.
Because Kelsien activated its ability twice targeting the same creature. That means there are two delayed triggers set up when the creature dies that turn, and both will trigger. This is addressed in Gatherer:
Each time Kelsien's last ability resolves, it creates a separate delayed triggered ability. If you untap Kelsien and activate its last ability multiple times in one turn, they'll each trigger when the appropriate creature or creatures die.
The gaias crade has summoning sickness, it was played the same turn, or is there an interaction with Nissa I missed.
You are correct that it has summoning sickness but nissa also gives the land haste.
This, btw, was done so that people don't need to be careful about tracking which lands were played this turn and to stop any confusion or discussion about wether the targeted land was played this turn.
There was HASTE literally written on the screen dude.
Selvala... noy only produces any color but also any combination... because it wasn't broken enough
Let's face it... Selvala goes infinite if someone looks in her general direction. Seedcradle Witch is a favorite of mine, pumps Selvala AND untaps her^^
Being broken is green's weakness.

Jordan played really well. Not accepting that deal was smart. Ash wanted that sol ring for her commander i think? next turn she played a tap land. Very well played.
