As lots of people keep asking: Yes, this is also possible on the VR port. However, you need to be holding the gun in your hand for it to work.
The Punisher is the best handgun because it lets you easily deal with shield enemies without wasting better ammo types.
Crits are tenporary, penetration is forever.
@@Guts-the-Berserker Until Ashley is standing behind them lol
i shall be abusing this knowledge when i finally play re4vr again, wonder if they patched out infinite shotgun ammo...
@@slayer-asp-6670 Nope! I did it recently myself and there weren't any new patches since I did it, so it should be good!
Can you clarify how to use the knife with the handgun upgrade in VR? I've been trying to use the knife in my left hand while holding the silver ghost in my right, but I have yet to see a head pop with the knife, while ganados are standing OR prone. I know it's harder to trigger a stun lock with knife hits to the head in VR, but I'm definitely getting head slashes at least some of the time, but no head pops yet. Am I dual wielding incorrectly, somehow?
From 0% to 40%? That's a crazy boost. Makes the default handgun way more attractive, considering how often the knife is used.
Yeah, I wasn't expecting that big a boost
но это только в голову ?
@@Kadagy да
Someone should tell Bawkbasoup.
@@thenonexistinghero he probably knows about it, lets be real here
I always thought that the knife automatically gets upgraded after the Krauser QTE cutscene, since we saw Leon picked up Krauser's bulkier knife.
I never realised this was such a widely held belief when their knives are practically the same and Leon's knife model doesn't change.
I find it difficult to believe that it's widely held belief. First time I've heard that. I always believed the knife is just slightly better or on par wihh most handguns.
Oh...well tbf you rarely get to see Leon's knife from a good angle so I always thought Krauser's knife was an upgrade
The only time Leon seems to use Krauser's knife is when he throws it to free Ada, right before the final boss fight.
wait he does?
Just the fact that you did a bunch these tests 100 times earned an instant subscription.
Many thanks ^^
Thank you sir for your dedication in doing The Lord's work.
I've been yelling loudly about this on the internet and among rl friends for years - basically since 2008. Was cool to see a video covering the topic confirming it!
Yeah, it's one of those things that no one seemed to be able to prove it, so it was always dismissed as false. Not anymore. ^^
This is why I always felt I had the best runs with the handgun
It's an interesting revelation and could be useful for future runs
yeah when im tired of swapping weapons in and out of the briefcase I just do pistol only runs. Harder but doesnt break the immersion when you need to switch weapons mid fight.
@@terencepaul7475 I'll need to test if this carried over to the Quest version of the game. In that one you can have two weapons on quick slots. One handgun and one of any other weapon.
@@TheDalisama The Quest Version is so badass. It actually made me like and understand VR more than I thought I ever would. I’ve been playing re4 since it came out when I was 8.
This game is older than me yet people still discover something new about it
Yep, it's amazing
Still one of the greatest games of all time I go back and beat it on prof about ever 6 months or so
Same like Super Mario 64. Seems the og games (Nintendo, super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, gamecube, and PS 1/2) had a lot of secrets and lots of creativity put into it
@@AngelloDelNorte I feel like games are not made like they used to be. All the original Mario games, legend of Zelda. Final fantasy. Re4. There was so much love and passion for the creators back then. They have lost there touch
@@ryanbeast69
My guess it's because is a whole different generation gaming dynamics. Modern gaming is about good graphic, DLC, and less fun/gaming creativity (I know there's more negatives but been years I've played any games) while the OG games was about being way more creative, more imagination, way more fun secrets, and obviously less focus on online gaming/dynamics.
You can tell right away producer back then made game with impassioned and not just about money.
I didn't know the knife could be so powerful, wow, great work.
Thanks ^^
Been using the regular handgun for 17 years, I never notice this.
Another reason to love it!
You learn something new everyday ^^
This is actually good to know. The r9 is by far my favorite gun and I'm still gonna use it 95% of the time but knowing this I might try a run with the silver ghost next time I start a new game
Yeah, it could make for a fun change of pace
I usually use the punisher because it pierces through barriers and once completely upgraded, could go through 5 target's if there's no shield, but I also use the blacktail, I might try out both the silver ghost and the red9
Same, I prefer Red9 usually, but this video makes me curious and want to try the SilverGhost on my next run. 😊
Holy shit the default pistol is called The Silver Ghost?? That goes hard
@@Blackhaze-gm1yj Try Red9 first, not the cringe ghost

I have a myth for you to bust: a suplex on a downwards slope deals more damage than one on a flat floor.
I'll add it to my list.
Dude I swear it does. It feels like every time I drop a guy on his head onto a flight of stairs it's a kill. I've put well over onethousand hours into the game. Of course could just be that the suplex is an awesome take down
@@johnroyal4054 i always thought the same, but unrelated to that does the suplex only start happening when you get to the castle or is my memory just weird?
@@sacredeyes3508 yeah. I wanna say pretty much once you hit castle you got it. Though i try to keep a distance till im inside
Ngl would make sense since it is further of a drop to the ground, for such a piece of digital art i would totally see the developers adding this as an easter egg
Friendship ended with Red9, now Silver Ghost is my best friend.
That's gonna be the case for many people, especially on second playthroughs and such
2 gun run, red9 and silver ghost, pretty fun. Red9 for bosses, silver ghost for any enemy the crit works on
AND maybe the punisher for shield enemies, very situational
That was impressive. You did a very huge effort, happy that you ended with some positive results.
Yeah, it made all that time spent testing actually worth it
I always said that First Handgun is a powerful tool to kill any enemies you encounter, killing them with perfect headshots, including parasites. But ppl said that it's useless weapon, so i still keeping fighting for this weapon, saying that it's a powerful weapon. But... Really??? I didn't test it myself, but to think THIS IS making this weapon even more powerful? Oh, come on! This is even MORE justify weapon to be powerful O_O
Yep, it's a very surprising little discovery.
why would anyone doubt it it? It is the best handgun,
first its critical increase when fully upgraded
second chosing your shots and killing enemies with 1-2 bullets = low bulletconsumption so you can then go crazy on bosses
third now this, i had no idea it got this feature, so now you basically can even save more bullets by going critical with the knive or kicks... amazing!
@@danielwolf6477 If only you knew what ppl i've met, and what they were saying...
I think red 9 is still lightly more reliable and the blacktail more flexible but i completely get using this thing, the aesthetic of it is great too, sliver finish usp tactical
Just remember that you're unlikely to get it's special on the first run on hard mode.
Even if you do everything smart and collect enough money - the upgrade itself unlocks pretty lately.
And you will need to get to the point, when it unlocks, with the shittiest gun in the game and full pockets of spare money, you could use to upgrade something better
I have noticed this once, even though I only played with the upgraded pistol once, this is really very nice. I also noticed that while you were upgrading the pistol during the game before getting the special, your critical hit changes were increasing the more you upgraded before achieving the final upgrade.
The critical hit chance actually remains the same base 10% until you get the final exclusive upgrade, the x5 which increases the rate to 50%.
Well, I felt that way, that it increased even before buying the exclusive, but I did no testing, anyway I wouldn't doubt the game would have this as a hidden feature, but I also was one of those that tought silencer incresed critical hit.
@@Tony-ig7kx I actually did two fresh runs after buying it on ps4. I didn't have the exclusive upgrade, but I felt like the crit rate was increased with max damage. Of course that could mean I was just doing more damage. I remember it happening a lot more with villagers, so it could just be that they have less health.
In order to find the truth, I'd have to go through the scientific method like Sarcosuchas did
I knew I wasn't crazy, when I played the game with a trainer to fool around upgrading all the weapons also seemed to notice that lol.
You're still crazy, but yeah, the exclusive has this effect for some reason
Imagine if there were a mod that replaces the knife with a crowbar..
@@nomad_boreal Sounds simple tbh, idk if the animations would be as easy tho
This video has such a calming and unsettling tone, (I think it’s the ambient music coupled with your soothing voice) I don’t think I’ve quite had this feeling watching any other video. I like it :D keep it up!
Hopefully many of my other videos have a similar effect for you ^^
absolutely mind blowing, this would indeed mean that the regular handgun is actually a pretty strong contender for best handgun
Indeed it would, though it all only comes into effect with the exclusive upgrade.
This is so cool! I just used the handgun going through the game and wondered if my crits we're happening more outside of bullets.
Well, now you know
Question, would you consider Dr Salvador a stalker? He doesn’t die like other villagers and he keeps coming back.
isnt there two dr salvadors in that little cave with the bear traps
He's not a stalker as there's more than one Dr. Salvador.
he will be
@@christopherlayana6957 Not really? There's Dr. Salvador and a different looking chainsaw Ganado.
To my knowledge the name Dr. Salvador is an invention of the english localisation, as are all of the other names given to ganados by the bottle caps. In Japan they are simply a class of enemy known as chainsaw man or chainsaw ganado I believe.
This is incredible! I can't believe this game is almost 20 years old and there are STILL new things to learn about it. My mind is BLOWN 🤯
Yes! Re4 remake will never surpass the original or any other game! Resident evil 4 is one of the games ever made! Never thought new things to be discovered and yet here’s another video
I'm constantly surprised myself
Blacktail VS Red9 meta, this video will completely change that after all these years lol. All things considered the silver ghost might be the best on pro considering how much we knife downed enemies on that difficulty, that 40% will do wonders!
Yeah, though only once its fully upgraded. But for NG+ challenges and such, it could change everything.
This was pretty cool man! Never seen someone go that in depth with such a game as far as damage/crit numbers goes. Definitely subbed! Great work! Hope to see more like this!
Thanks ^^ There will be more to come ^^
Has this gone unnoticed until now? I didn't realize the modifier was constantly active/applied to melee! This is actually really interesting! Most people don't bother sticking with the default weapon bc of how attractive the new ones are, and the space constraint of keeping the starting pistol in your inventory. Most people that do try it once and leave it at that.
I use melee and headshots as much as possible to conserve ammo but I usually ditch the starting pistol early on. This will change my next playthrough! Great video glad to find out something new about my favorite game!
It was a myth back on the Gamefaqs boards years and years ago, but no one could provide any concrete evidence so it was dismissed as being nothing more than a myth.
I guess I'm the first to show it explicitly on video.
Damn, for every playthrough I've always used the Red9 (because I absolutely love the design of the gun, and the gunfire sound is just eargasm) and thought the starter pistol was the weakest lmao😂😂
In terms of damage it is the weakest, but the exclusive makes up for it.
I love that kind of absolutely unknown or forgotten trivia about this game. Great video.
Many thanks ^^
I’m always impressed how no matter how old this game is! There’s always new content to be made with this masterpiece of a game! This was a interesting video btw

Upgrading your knife, and most importantly the legs! sounds nice for my next playtrough XD
Btw so you need to hold the upgraded pistol while doing the melee and knife attacks, right?
Correct
Wow I'm amazed to know this facts about the knife, it was my favorite melee weapon in all of the RE games especially RE4 to 6. You sir deserve a like and a subscribe for going thru the time and effort of proving this RE4 myth, thank you for doing this.

Question, I remember hearing that Krausers knife does more damage than Leon's back in the day. it's been years so maybe I just saw someone speculate. but that's what I originally thought when I saw the vids title.
I'll have to find a way to test that consistently
I'm pretty sure Krausers knife on mercenaries does deal more damage; would need to test it out, to be certain.
@@MysteryMouseketool I'll add it to my Myth list.
Welp...
Silver Ghost run time. 😄
I love the way great games like RE4 and MGS2 have these silent little design lovenotes from Mikami and Kojima to us players that most of the time we either discover by accident, or see in a CZcams video years later. It makes me think of Onimusha as well, given how careful attack timing could devastate any enemy in that game with an Issen critical, so Leon is something of an honorary Oni himself with the Ghost, heh.
Very much agreed, I love discovering hidden details and secrets in games that I've grown up with
Keep up the great work fam can't wait for it!
Thanks ^^
I didn't know about this "upgrade" before. It's something new for me. Good to know. Great job man.
You learn something new everyday
Definitely a reason for me to actually upgrade it all the way. My favorite pistol ended up being the blacktail after having to play mercenaries so much. That fire rate is addicting
The Blacktail is my preference usually as well.
I always use red9
I like the firepower.
So this is why Leon canonically survive through this entire event.
Pretty much xD
"Gun and Sword In Accord" trope done to justice by Leon, and from the Capcom that gave us Devil May Cry and Onimusha, as well.
Good games, good times 🍻
Very detailed explanation, looking forward to see more!

Woah! Impressive stuff as always sir! 💪

Wow. The Silver Ghost has always been my favorite handgun even before this was confirmed, but now that the myth is actually a feature, I have a solid argument against the Red9 folks.
Btw nice analysis and thanks for showing my comment :D
I did say I'd cover this myth, I'm a man of my word. :P
It's cool but I don't think it's enough to take down the red9 from the top spot.
Red9 is still the best
Watching this video reminds me of one thing...
Few years ago i and my friends were debating that leon took Krauser's knife and used it until the game ended. My friends said that it deals more dmg.
And yeah, i felt stupid for believing it lol.
You're not the only one who believed it, I'm surprised with how many have mentioned it
This is the first I've ever heard about this and I've been playing since this game first game out. Thanks for making this video!

Get that playthrough started ;D
Good lord, how long did it take you to put all this together?? 200 tries?? You're a superhero😂
200 times for each variable, so 400 for the melees and 400 for the knife. Took over 5 hours of recording.
@@Sarcosuchas You're the RE4 guru for sure😂
Wow this is an awesome find to one of my favorite games! I'm tempted now to see if this is still in the VR version and wonder if it'll carry over to the REmake4.

It always blows my mind that after 17 years and over a dozen platform releases of this game including Multiple updates and upgrades, and not counting the hundreds of CZcamsrs that make content about this particular game, there is always SOMETHING new to be learned after all this time.
and dozens of playthroughs myself. Absolutely astounding.
Same goes for me, I pretty much live and breathe this game yet I still end up learning new things now and again. I love it.
I had my mind blown the same way watching one of the Hololive vtubers playing Metal Gear Solid 2.
Usada Pekora was midway through the Fortune encounter at the bottom of the elevator, and through sheer panic, *_she managed to juke one of Fortune's railgun shots by popping in and out of cover. Directly in Fortune's line of sight, pressed against a crate facing 90 degrees off, and she was wiggling the left stick. She stumbled into cover-mode infinity frame mechanics left by our boi Kojima._*

It's always so fascinating learning something new about your favorite game, even after all these years.
Indeed ^^
The special's upgrade of handgun it so op xd
I don't think this was intended but I'm not complaining xD
Correction: the absolute best at what normal handguns do, for normal zombies.
Red9 is still the best in term of resource-to-damage ratio. Because head criticals do not work against bosses. Only head damage multiplier do and they are different.
And Blacktail is best for damage per second ratio. Besides, your power weapons are for bosses.
Would love to see a follow up video showing us the handgun without the exclusive bought percentages and trying the same test with the handcannon equipped along with the exclusive bought
I showed the percentages for the handgun without the exclusive. It's own base critical rate is 10% and for melees and the knife there's a 0% critical rate.
Trying the same test with the handcannon equipped would be a waste of time as it doesn't affect the critical rate for the knife/melees. This effect is exclusive to the handgun's exclusive for x5 crits.
In RE5 the starting pistol is the upgraded version of Silver Ghost
It's really fun popping headshot while having a magazine size of 100 rounds
The starting pistol in RE5 is not the Silver Ghost, in the first trailers it looked like it was going to be but in the finished game it is different.
@@Sarcosuchas Not literally of course
RE5 really does a good job at diversifying their guns properties.
Here's hoping that RE4R will carry the special properties of their weapon.
@@amspook Indeed, we can only hope
No fucking way this is possible haha, or not! Let's find out 🔜
We'll find out soon xD
The knife's weapon model changes after Leon gets Krauser's knife. I know this for a fact, because I've modded this game for years.
The weapon ID changes, and the new ID has a different weapon model associated with it, like every weapon in the game.
So every weapon in the game is an object with different attributes: damage, reload speed, bullet spread, weapon model etc.
Also while the first knife has a developer's comment "Knife" in the source code, the second one has "K-Knife" which I assume is short for Krauser-Knife.
What's really interesting about these two knives, is that I just made all this shit up. Don't trust everything you read online.
You had me in the first half, not gonna lie.
Because this very debate has been had in the comments of this video, enough to inspire me to make a separate video about it lol
I did my first playthrough using the Silver Ghost last year and had a blast with the 5x headshot crit multiplier, nice to see it had other perks too, even if I didn't notice at the time. Easily became my favourite handgun because of how cheap it was to upgrade and how efficient it could be.
Yeah, it's really handy when the crits kick in frequently.
Funny enough, in Remake Critical Bonus actually work on bosses now, and the candidate got increased in Remake
Base Handgun
Killer7(Formerly no Exclusive, but now it has the same Exclusive as base Handgun)
Every Melee Attack with the Illuminados Charm equiped(+20% Crit Bonus)
Yep, almost like Capcom were watching my videos lol
I made a challenge run some years ago using only the weapons the game gives you, plus rifle and TMP. Meaning: Handgun, Shotgun and Broken Butterfly. It allowed me to amass quite a lot of money that got invested in their inexpensive upgrades, and by the end of the game, they made the run significantly easy.
Almost a No Merchant run then
@@Sarcosuchas Almost, but I used the merchant quite a lot to upgrade the guns :3
Now it makes me wonder if RE5's M92F have the same properties with the Melee attacks and Knife (Potentially the Stun Rod too?) as the Silver Ghost Fully Upgraded since it ALSO has an increase in crits when fully maxed out. Good video though I never knew!
I would assume it doesn't as it was presumably coded differently, but without testing I can't say with 100% certainty.
Ahaha, when I clicked on this video, I had no idea what to expect. I hadn't ever heard of the myth of the handgun giving it crits. Fully expected it to just be nonsense. But what a pleasant surprise to see the results. What a fantastic video. It's so cool to learn stuff like this about a game I've played the hell out of.
Yeah, there's been a few myths I've heard that I expected to be nonsense only for them to be true lol
Then there's others that are just that. Nonsense.
Huh, that's actually pretty fascinating. Recently finished a new Resi 4 run where the only weapon I actually bought was the bolt action rifle when you first meet the merchant. I had no idea that I was actually making my knife and kicks more effective when I maxed out the handgun. Good to know for future runs.
Yeah, it's quite the pleasant surprise
As someone who mainly uses either the default handgun or the blacktail I’ve always felt that my knife has better luck killing with the default sense then blacktail is just strong. Very cool video
Thanks ^^
Does the critical hit % increase apply per enemy? Say you were to flash some mobs that were all within the radius of a kick, would it increase the chance per enemy? Thus it would tick more often in larger groups?
Correct, it is per enemy. So you're more likely to see criticals in groups naturally
Awesome video! Thanks for testing. Will subscribe
Many thanks ^^
Can the same math be applied to the VR version? Upgraded silver ghost also help in the VR version??
Yes, but you need to be holding it in your hand
Question for you sir, how did you get a suppressor into your inventory? I would love to add Merc only stuff and more as long as it doesn't crash the game.
It's available via the HD Project mod. My silencer video (similar to this one) shows the location after the Bella Sister fight.
Interesting thought. Does it change the characteristics of the knife if you equip a different weapon then? If you equip a fully upgraded red 9 for example, does it make the knife do more raw damage?
No, because as stated in the video, these differences are tied to the handgun's exclusive upgrade changing the critical hit chance.
Super interesting, gonna try this on a knife only run
Good luck ^^
Is there a software for you to show off the enemies' health bar? It might help you with your tests
No, but there are game file sheets with enemy HP, but not all of them are known.
I know the Ganado I test on has a health value equivalent to 8.
Did you account for if that was just a boost of having a weapon in your other hand, or check the handgun pre-upgrade?
No other weapon affects these statistics, only the exclusive upgrade for the handgun because it manipulates the RNG tables that critical shots run on.
Hi..... does red9 increase knife power too?? Upgrading it fully says that it increases the damage beyond weapon capacity (something like that)....does knife's damage increase too??
No, damage upgrades only affect the weapon they are applied to
Awesome video. I always use the Red 9 but next play through I’ll stick to the handgun.
Always nice to change things up a bit ^^
do you know if this changes "Knife only" Runs, like did people already do this or is this a potential time save in Speedruns
If you were to start with the fully upgraded handgun then it could make things easier overall if you get lucky with the crit rates.
Does an unupgraded handgun has any affect on crits for kicks and knife? Also it would be interesting to test if other weapons affect knife and kick damage and critrate
No, it is only the exclusive upgrade that does this.
And other weapons don't affect it as none of their upgrades are designed to manipulate critical rates.
@@Sarcosuchas I see. This makes it way less useful, but still a VERY interesting mechanic anyway. You could also add to the vid title to 'knife and kicks'
if the crit increases only when you have the gun equipped this should mean the damage of the melee weapon and the crit is based on the weapon you have equipped is there a change in crits or damage output if you change what gun you equip?
No, because this only happens with this specific handgun when it has the exclusive upgrade.
The exclusive upgrade multiplies the chances of a critical shot by x5. Due to an apparent error in coding, this same multiplier is carried over to the knife and melee when the handgun is equipped.
No other weapon has an RNG table manipulator for an upgrade.
Wow dude, I had never heard this in all the years I've been playing this game, and thought it was a myth just based on the title. Can't believe this is a thing, nice work revealing this man! Surprising no one has found this before.
It was known about before, but I don't believe anyone ever went to the bother of proving it on video in a way that removes any and all other variables. Hence it being treated more as just a myth/rumour.
this is a big find for the community, sir...
hats off dan big thanks for ur effort and dedications ..
🤘🤘🤘
Thanks ^^
I've always used the Silver Ghost because it shows up in cutscenes. :)
Authentic :)
Very interesting. I was always a fan of the punisher handgun you get after shooting all the medallions since it can shoot through multiple enemies and even shields. Does this crit boost to knives apply to all versions of RE4?
Yes, it applies to all versions as it appears to be an unintended glitch in the coding for the exclusive.
Damn, nice. I was always fond of sparing bullets with knife combat in the game, especially weaker enemies that you can down with a melee or finish off in the ground. So, with this exploit, I think the silver ghost will be a new favorite. Kind of funny though considering it’s your first default handgun and most players would deviate to better firearms with improved overall stats.
is the outfit you had on ashley (seen at 1:50 ) a mod? i love how she looks in it.
Yeah, its actually her beta outfit, available now via the HD Project mod.
Would this be possible in the VR version? You'd always have the handgun on your side, but would the crit chances change depending on whether or not you're holding it while knifing?
Yes, its possible on VR, and you need to be holding the handgun.
@@Sarcosuchas Does that mean while holding the handgun, the crit chance carries over to any other weapons you're holding?
@@sadochismo3373 No, it would only be the knife and melees, as each gun has its own critical chance tied to it.
I have a question I’d like investigated for a future video, if you don’t already know the answer. Do different enemies have different crit rates?
I did a fresh professional playthrough recently where I kept the handgun, to see if the 5x crit upgrade really made it the best pistol. Thing is, the upgrade comes late in the game, and while it worked great on the Ganados in the mines, the Zealots and Island Soldiers seemed completely unaffected, making the upgrade feel like a waste on a fresh file.
It could just be the higher health values or defense stats leading to less head pops, but it just felt so ineffective on late-game enemies compared to the Red9. Could you take an in-depth look on how the exclusive Handgun actually fares against other enemies?
A good suggestion and something I probably should incorporate into a video.
The concept of a critical shot means a x10 damage boost; so the handgun with the exclusive has a 50% chance of dealing 20 damage instantly instead of 2. However, when it comes to probability, you were just getting unlucky and not getting the crit more frequently.
Enemies generally take more damage from headshots too.
Though it is true that different enemies have different health, defence and critical rates. For example, the Garrador's plaga is a x16 damage multiplier when shot compared to the rest of his body.
The Handgun is my favorite weapon. So many times I just mow down a hoard of ganado with a single headshot each. Much better than raw damage output.
Exactly
I once did a knife-only run (minus some bosses) on professional a long time ago. Now it makes sense why i was able to achieve doing that without too much struggle.
Although technically you're not supposed to upgrade the handgun for a knife only run
@@Sarcosuchas this was in 2008 before i knew anything about rules, i just did it and made my own rules because i was bored haha
That's fine, practice is practice and I'm pretty flexible myself about these things.
Oh yeah, Silver Ghost is OP when you figure out this quirk, very useful tactic.
Indeed
I heard there is dead giant chain saw man under the castle near the mines, the same one from mercnaries mode, is this true?
I've never heard of that nor have I ever noticed anything like it.
what about other weapons ? or this onlt works with handgun ?
As explained in the video, it is tied only to the handgun's exclusive upgrade.
"I don't fear a man who can kick 1000 types of kick, i'm terrified of the man who practiced the same kick 1000 times..." Bruce Lee
And very true, Don Jose learned this the hard way
But the gun you are using is the one with silencer that's exclusive to the mercenaries mode, is it the same in the campaign?
Yes, I covered this in my video about the Silencer. It is the exact same gun, always has been, as the silencer is just an attachment like the scope for the rifles or the stock for the TMP and Red9.
This took some dedication.. do the knife criticals only apply to swipes to the head or the body as well?
Usually the head but it does appear that sometimes the body will count as well. Criticals are a x10 damage boost after all.
Can you check out if this is true in the remake? I remember seeing threads of people thinking their melee attacks were stronger using the default handgun
Yeah, I can test these things in the Remake too
Have to wonder if other weapons change the crit rate like rifles and what not.
Or what the red9 does. Ive always felt it had the highest crit rate of the pistols other than the starters exclusive
No, they don't as their critical rates are fixed.
The Exclusive for the handgun, due to it increasing its base crit rate of 10% to 50%, also effects the knife and melees by giving them the same multiplier.
That's actually very interesting, i never would've known cuz ever since my first play through on ps2 I've been a Red9 enjoyer. Might have to play back through Resi 4 sometime
Also hi sarco! Idk if you remember me but we used to play together a few years ago, crazy that you have 20k subs now brother!
Of course I remember you, I'm not that forgetful :P
