I'm using the four step approach but have this problem of crossing the foul line (sometimes once in a game). Still facing this issue even as I move back. Someone suggest that I take a smaller first step. Is there any other areas to take note?

its hard to say without seeing you throw the ball. Find a coach in your area that can actually watch you throw or online coach even. otherwise just keep moving back with your feet until you find a spot where you wont cross the foul line at all no matter how far back you finish then keep inching forward in your starting position until you find a comfortable spot. if your not lining up your feet in the exact spot every single time that can be one of the causes also.
