They've kinda always been in the background as an anti meta deck. Never the best counter, but always a decent one
i've been maining the nuns for a long time in the tear meta but i mainly use snake eyes now, it hurts getting your stuff banished but snake eyes can still deal with it because the deck just generate insane advantage... when it comes to control decks, although the nuns are more consistent, but i'd still say the floodgate lab is still worse to play against when you're using snake eye

Droll don't stop toxic combos, it stops searching. There are decks that play around droll and still are toxic. Droll just narrows down the playable decks to give an ilusion of stopping combos.

@@andreperry7995 it's not only that. They play 60 cards deck and still draw the out. I play 40 cards decks and 12 non engine cards and never draw the out or any handtrap. Heck they open up branded fusion in 60 cards deck. I think konami there is somehow manipulating the ratios

You cant chain Pax to Anti-spell in dp. You can only activate pax in MP
Tearlamamts used to fusion summon only 3 but branded fuse more and also use opponents field broken...
Plus with Branded Lost we can stop you from activating cards too.

Tear's problem was that they had a turn 0 and synergized way to hard with Izhuzu
Without that, they truly weren't *that* bad in comparison. Puppet lock is worse than anything Tear has ever done.

Its interesting that branded is only so strong, bc its need a high skill level or training time to learn playing it. How lower the possible combos are, the lower is the power and learning become easier. When labyrinth got a spell side theme support, there will be the fight between Monster and Extra Deck against Spell and Trap dancing monsters :O

Crazy how Spyral and Rikka both seem like super fair decks now compared to Mannadium and SHS which are much more competent combo decks.

Even if you made a hard going second deck with a 80% win rate against ftk, you would be wasting your time watching them combo, so the best counter to the deck IS the surrender button.

That last duel was the greatest duel I’ve seen in these tournaments. I never thought I’d ever root for Mathmech.
Maxx C doesn't do jack to keep ridiculous combos in check. Every time I see that "argument" being made, I want to reach through my monitor and smack the person who said it. The fact that the game's entire format and banlist are centered around this singular card's existence is indicative of deeply flawed game design.
Allowing absurdly unbalanced cards/decks to exist and/or be legal "Because Maxx C" is the most incomprehensible "logic" I've ever seen.
