    Great way to attach heavy object to drywall. I would be confident to use four of these if, for some reason, there were no studs. Definitely try and set your project up to attach one side to a stud. I highly recommend using socket adapters to drive in lag bolts to your 2x4 or 2x6 stud. Please reach out with any questions on your project!

      Ok. If you attached a piece of 12x20ish 3/4" plywood to the wall with say 8 flip toggles, then also flip toggled the mount thru plywood, would that likely work? I'm thinking spread the load.

    • @how2q
      @how2q  Před rokem +4

      I think 8 would be overkill but would def work

      @@how2q After reviewing my comment...yep. Attach plywood with 4 flip toggles. Attach TV mount with 4 flip toggles. That would still eight instead of 12. I put my full motion in the corner of old mobile home. Built a frame work out if 2x4 to attach mount to. Likely overkill but safe. I'll redo it better in the spring.

      Quick update… I know in this video, one side was a stud which actually in your living room or wherever you put this will typically be the situation. I’ve also used for these without a stud that worked fine. If there is no stud at all, I would use a TV mount that pulls out in articulates left and right. Just one that stays against the wall.

  • @ravenbluesid

    Thanks a lot for the video! I re arrange my HT setup and I wanted to mount the TV this time, my problem was that the studs were in a place were the TV would not be in a center position from viewing area, so I got those anchors and I used 6 of them, 2 on each side of the base plate and 2 at the center, my TV weights around 37 pounds(17 kg) and those anchors are supposed to hold around 260 ponds on drywall, so I think it's solid... I hope so 😅
    Anyway thanks again!

    Very helpful thank you. I have a Sanus mount wall for a 43” tv. I doubt the weight is a problem but I am worry that once it is installed because it extends up to 21” forward, that weight and the length when extended will rip the drywall because it will no longer be close to the wall, thanks!

    • @how2q
      @how2q  Před rokem +1

      So we are talking tension and shear…shear bering weight would be the down force on wall (mount as it sits against wall). Tension would be the pull force (extended). According to hilti…one toggle option. Tension is 45 lbs for 1. Since you might actually be using four Yeah that would allow up to 180 pounds. I’m sure there is some genius out there that can figure out at 21 inches with your mount and TV what that weight and force would be but I’m probably not that guy. But at 180 pounds tension (theoretically if u hung it straight down from ceiling) with all four I’m assuming it will be overkill for what you have. Bottom line I think you should be good.

    • @how2q

      Really depends…if your shiplap is over drywall/wood studs then yes. Some people have put shiplap over an “older” brick fireplace…in that case no. Especially for VR Space, etc. I want to add a PC desk under the mounted TV too. So I can have more space, etc. I can barely walk in my room as it is. Lmao. Sadly my brothers bedroom closet is behind my TV. So I don't know how I can do that with out f'Ing everything up. 104 house? All drywall is either 1/2” or 5/8” thick….behind that you have studs (3 1/2”) thick. Don’t worry about punching into the closet from ur new game room. So at a minimum with the drywall on the game room side, 3 1/2” studs, and then the drywall on the other side, there is a minimum of 4 1/2 inches between the rooms.

      If you have a good ear and or a magnet you can find a stud. Knock on wall…drywall on stud has a different sound. Grab a magnet…slide it back and forth over wall to find drywall screws, when u find the screw you have found the stud. Once u find one measure 16” or 24” either side and u should find another stud.

    Two comments. First, mounting a TV over a fireplace is not a great idea. Second, it would be better to add a 2x4 horizontally between two studs than just attach to drywall, no matter what kind of screw anchor you use. Or use a metal bracket to span the two studs. Various solutions exist that allow you to make a very solid and reliable connection.
