Simon Fiedler (simonfiedler.de/) doing his thing again: This time he’s covering how to create this blistery/bubbly effect on a mesh without resorting to VDB conversion. Enjoy!

This is awesome, thanks Simon, Please come back with more. This was insightful as always.
Thank You very much, Simon and Entagma!
Cool! You are one of the best houdini learning channel! Keep it up!
Fantastic tutorial! With so many great pragmatic tips in it! Manu had a setup for the overlapping a while back that made my head spin but this volume sampling trick is more my speed. Want to try it with some instanced spheres in from a sim now.
Huge fan of Simon. Really awesome tips. Thanks guys.
This is fantastic. So many great tips in there! Thx!
Very good and clean. Well explained Simon. I very much like well optimized setups like that.
That's grossly wonderful. Bravo sensei.
Love it! Love to see more MOPs tutorials please Thanks!!
Excellent tutorial!
Amazing setup!
Brilliant Simon, cheers
Thanks, great stuff. In case someone else wants to apply the color. After some fiddling around in the bubbledeformer VOP, I figured the trick is to plug the "fit" output and the "mops falloff" into a new multiply node. Then pipe the multiply out into the Cd of the "Geometryvopoutput", and then add a ramp color node at the end of the SOP tree. Works like a charm.
Awesome thanks for this 👍
thanks for sharing!
Thank you!!!
Great, thanks, very instructive.
Good video, some great tips, thankyou.
Great one. 👍
awesome! easy and effective. thanks for the video.
Cool! Thanks!
thank you
thank you!
Entagmamazing
Heyy Simon! :)
nice Stuff as always ./ with the Pow function and smooth can't get lazy Bubble ;(
How can i give every each bubble different color? (Only the effected bubbles)
I see this as a method for modeling bumps on a toad.
thanks, lovely. where is coloring part :(
the vectors part ain't easy, have to admit, but the final result is worth diving into it again as to understand the math behind it.
17:04 fixing overlaps keep quads.
How was the color applied like in the preview?
Attr Transfer was the key.
Does anyone have any tips for how to make the bubbles keep their color?
Originally I thought I'd try separating the Cd attribute in the VOP but all that did was change the position of my bubbles for some reason. Whatever it was I'd probably loose that data anyways when we convert to a VDB. My second attempt is to make two groups using a bounding sphere that's the exact size of the original sphere scaled 0.02 up. I'm about to try this now but I wanted to make this post incase someone sees it and knows an easy fix.
@@Rhiggins5173 the easiest way is to use curvature map in your render
anyone else having issues with this tutorial in 18.5+? I have even downloaded the file provided and it does nothing.
Just checked the file - working fine in H18.5.535 - do you have MOPS installed? (www.motionoperators.com)
Cheers, Mo
can you make this in blender pls?
A big WTF.... The art produced by all this knowledge and mathematics engineering is worthless. But all the reasoning, knowledge, engineering is the real piece of art here!
Thanx fantastic video
5 ads in one video... YT is soooo annoying now..
