Though not heavily modified, this clean Porsche 997.1 GT3 has been modified lightly with popular suspension, brake, and exhaust upgrades. The 997.1 GT3 and it's high-revving 3.6L Mezger flat six are quickly becoming a collector's item, and as such, we want to take every chance we can to have a go.

Not that big of a fucking deal. Clutches can take a beating. My old fox body was the car I learned to drive a manual in. I was only 17 and did a lot of stupid shit. Clutch always felt like new and it was still the original clutch at 76k miles.

Get lost with the Honda shifter, i driven so many Honda and the shifter is okay at best.
911 shifter is 1000x better than dc2r dc5r n s2k i driven. NA miata shifter is far far better than any Honda shifter.
And yes i own a stupid Honda as daily driver.

I'm sorry but miatas shifters are OK, but the transmission is way too noisy, the 6 speed gearboxes Hondas make are truly a gem, tsx, accord v6 and s2k are really good. the next good one I find is the Mazda rx8, but then again the rx8 transmission is a bit too noisy as well
No one talking about the transmission noise, we talking about shifter feel. The 5 speed MX5 is leagues ahead of any Honda i drove.
Well you have to consider the transmission too its a whole package the shifter the gears and the noise. Drove a 2001 mx5, must say I was disappointed, the new sky active must be nice tho

If you're a single dude with no massive house payments, credit card debt, or student loans, and you make more than $65k a year, theoretically you could save up or finance a 997 GT3. Most people aren't that blessed though so it's kind of a stretch .

all depends on your financial situation. 2 incomes, no kids and not paying off a 700k mortgage, you can drive a GT3 every day with no worries.

This guy has the right attitude about owning a nice car.
The first Porsche I ever drove was a 997.1 GT3 and it remains one of the best cars I have driven.
A couple years later the same owner let me drive his 997.1 Turbo, but I was disappointed with the tiptronic box. Have since driven his awesome 991 GT3 and in between I managed to blag a test drive of a 997.2 Turbo with PDK.
I really love Porsche and this year I am aiming to buy one as a weekend/evening toy.
Current favourites are 997.1 and 997.2 GT3s but I'm also contemplating a Cayman GT4. All 3 of the vehicles in UK are within a £20k price window of one another.
Really hope my dreams come together and can't wait to go out and test drive them all, preferably back-to-back.

John Wick Yes I've heard about that. But the gearing seems to be the only issue with all other aspects being very good. I do intend to drive them all extensively before buying and I will focus on that gearing when I get into a GT4. Whatever car I get will need to be good for Sunday blasts into the peak district etc. 👍
Do you prefer 991 GT3 to 997 GT3?
Sander De difficult one as it was so long ago that I drove the 997 and at that time I had a 350Z as my own car.
I now have an M4 and stepping out of that into the 991 GT3 wasn't such a shock in terms of power difference. However the overall experience, noise etc was still amazing to me.
Back to comparing older GT3 vs new it's a difficult call. The older one is certainly more raw. If I had the money for a 991 version then I'd need to drive them back to back and think a lot about residuals too. With the rumoured 991.2 having a manual option that could well see prices of the 991.1 dropping significantly.. Same perhaps for the 997....

The comment Matt said about middle class is somewhat true depending on your financial and hobby level, I know a guy who said he wasn’t a millionaire and owns one 997 GT3 and a Civic for grocery and commuting, his main hobby is cars and doesn’t have other interests, he doesn’t eat at fancy restaurants and doesn’t go fancy shopping at the mall/cloths, so it helped him only put money towards the Porsche and a little Honda on side.
He loves the car and even said he wasn’t rich when I asked him. So it goes both ways on what you think is middle class or not, some of the comments were laughing at Matt but I see both sides.

Great to see what many consider the perfect daily. But yet another Porsche...does EVERYONE have one in LA? Great vid, but Porsche fatigue is setting in.
Porsche content does consistently well, and there are like sixty variants of the modern porsche 911. As long as I'm not doing too much overlap and still have things to say, I'm going to keep filming 911's. That being said, the second half of last year was a bit 911-heavy, and until new models come out, there's not much more to cover. The last ones are a big power turbo this week, and 991 GT3 RS, which is next week, and then that's it for 911's for a while.
I hear ya Matt, I do. Review what is popular and what people like. Just wish people had a little more imagination sometimes and went for an R8, or a left field option as their sports car.

I take every left field option that comes across my inbox. Fact is, there are very few "left field" option sports cars out in the real world, which is why they are the left field option.

I have never driven a Porsche but I did own a 1966 beetle and it had a very tight shift. very mechanical feeling. I liked it, I also liked the steering, I felt every rock on the road. I miss that car.
