Fear of success is something that I think people don’t think about. I think most people just believe there is fear of failure, but fear of actually doing well and not knowing how to handle it is something that I feel I have.

How can I just throw "myself" away like that? The attachment. The resistance to change. Resistance to evolution....

Holy Shit! You've hit the bull's eye Dan. I'm spiritual, I meditate and stuff, read and follow a lot of self-help books and materials,.. But nowhere I got this blatant TRUTH. I've been struggling all through my career, full of highs and lows, always sabotaging when I got what I struggled for - by messing with supiriors' ego, getting low and over confident, getting into unnecessary trouble at work place, and what not. All this while I thought it's my lack of discipline, and I'm always working on it (forever), been so hard on myself. I am a high IQ multiple talented person, and for me to be struggling all the time, when i should be doing "real stuff" makes me sick to my stomach.
And you tell me this. Just like that.
I think today is the day that will change my life. God bless you.
    Love, Vinita. 😃

I think some people become addicted to failure as a way of life because there is so much social proof of it everywhere and most people just want to fit in. Our identity can be a terribly hard habit to break. Ironically, people who feel inferior often do better because they are trying to compensate for their shortcomings and then work harder at success. People who have experienced trauma may associate the excitement of success with the same physiological reactions as trauma. They avoid subjecting themselves to excitement-inducing circumstances, which causes them to be almost phobic about success. There are many more reasons including the most obvious which is that most people are just not intelligent enough to be successful. Either way, everyone, no matter who they are, can always do better if they simply commit themselves to self improvement as a way of life. Thanks Dan for your continuing great advice!

When you have ups and downs its not only fear of success. Its loosing the intrinsic motivation by reaching a set of a goal. When you are low on money and high in debt, you aim to get out of debt and finally break even. But when you reach the motivational turning point of breaking even and dont have your goal actualized from running away from something daunting to running towards something positive like akkumulating assets and still raising your income, you will loose motivation and enter disorientation. Like a runner reaching his goal and pausing. As soon as you near your turning point, adapt your navigation and set your new course.

I believe the social structure flourished ( and still does) by promoting beliefs of unworthiness, giving people feelings of low self esteem. If people don’t feel good about themselves they will never rise above their allotted station in life.
We all have a inbuilt spirit who’s purpose is to move us towards our higher calling.
Moving past the struggle into the flow, requires us to become aware of our self sabotaging beliefs, then pay attention to what we THINK, SAY, & DO, becoming conscious is the greatest step towards self growth.
When we think of success, the image can create excitement, but it will bring to the surface our greatest fears, and this can stop us in our tracks.
It’s like moving from slavery to freedom, slavery is the old benefits, freedom the new, so in order to move, come back and plan some small doable goal, then bit by bit like building a house one brick at a time, a new reality will be manifested.
Success comes from overcoming obstacles, one day at a time, one step at a time.
Life is a journey let us enjoy the process 😍

Dan is one of the first person who introduce the concept about self esteem to me that make sense I never really understood it before. Thanks, Dan. You've finally filled in the blanks for me.
I realised that the harder I worked to improve my ex-fiancee and me's lot in life - and we were reaping the rewards socially and materially - was the harder she tried to stifle our progress. And this never made sense to me.
We'd always spoken about me (because she expressed a desire to sit it out) building our financial empire - and the realer the dream was becoming, was the more fights (from random things that weren't even our problems, relationship-wise) surfaced.
At least now your explanation makes sense to me why I always thought she was self-sabotaging, to the point that it was affecting me negatively.
After ruining things several times, she'd always go out of her way to play hero. But she'd also always find a way to play victim during our most monumental successes.

People say: there is no such thing as fear of success.
I used to be that person, now i realise that, people that say that never came close to success.
Because I'm having that feeling right now.
I won't fuck it up, I'am doing my best to ignore this feeling.

Just Looking at Dan. I See What it takes to be successful. Maintaining that Same Level of Hardwork that we don’t like. Looking Good all the time, showing up everyday to your business. It reallly is something to be feared about. Because you have to show up and maintain that success for the rest of your life or else it will all go away.

I lost being fearless when I was a freshman in high school all because I let someome talk down on me every little fuck up I did when I was trying to do my best at practices. I never gave it my all ever since then but was still part of the team and teamates looked at me as a captain cause of my voice and yelling and just feeling the need to dominate the fuck out the other team, I ended up getting injured my last year of high school and couldn't play my last tournament of the season and all because i wasn't fearless...I hate regreting but Ive been exploring the entrepreneurial world from good to bad cause I feel the need to stop being shy and yell and let my story be out there to always be fearless and just fuck it go all in! Thanks Dan for the videos you and your team create!

I didn't realise this at all. Thank you Sifu Dan. #Believe There was a time I got famous, got praised and was supported. But with these it comes with the haters. I was hugely affected by it when I was young at 16. I didn't know all these success brought me so much "pain". I didn't want to be special but soon I realised people says what they want to say. You cannot change their own beliefs but you can control what happens in your life. We should not struggle to fit in but be at ease with being ourselves. Be who you really are and be at your best potential, those who will stay will stay. Thumbs up Sifu.

I was doing this. Fucking up every interview. I'm an excellent programmer not gonna lie and source of my confidence is my skills. I was applying for very high pay positions and once some rounds would clear I would start feeling terrified and discontinued from the process myself. I was feeling that feeling just now with yet another interview process and the thought occurred to me ― Am I feeling fear of success? Then I looked it up if fear of success is even a thing and stumbled upon this video. And just admitting that my fear is a fear of success and not failure made me very confident. Thank you so much. I'll give my all in this interview process no matter how much things change after that.

But this one was the real deal, like no one asks themselfs "What if I am not as smart as I consider?", the question about fear of succes is the same way. Nobody would admit that at the first try. Thanks a lot, there is so much value in this video, with your words.

Hi Dan. I have been watching your videos for some time now and up until seeing this one I had no idea that I had “fear of success”. I originally was going to start a business with my close friend but she kept holding us back, causing delays and shooting down all my ideas. But I’ve now decided I’m going to do it on my own because I did all the research, I put in the hours and I came up with the idea and the financing. I’m so glad that you make these videos as you have helped me so much. I’m going to get incorporated this week after over a year of preparation and waiting. Thank you so much!!!!

Some people fear success, because they have experienced sudden loss or betrayal that was out of their control. They sabotage their future successes because the loss was then at least caused by themselves, rather than some force outside their control. They don't trust that the success will last, so they destroy it to avoid the trauma of it happening when they least expect it.

Yes initially I thought what you say felt arrogant but I asked myself and try to confront my inner demons, and you are absolutely RIGHT! I am afraid! F**king coward me of my own success. I had small successes but why am I always playing the second fiddle, always the best man never the groom? I feel there is a cap, a ceiling I have always averted and avoided to move onto the next level. Maybe its maturity or fear now of being stuck in the middle class, I have watched a number of your videos online and slowly but surely I feel a small change, and I want to go forth and leverage more and more. Please do share with us what else can make us feel that success and be comfortable with it! Thanks man! Bless you and your crew 8)

It sounds weird, but it is true. I don't know why but some people do seem to be addicted to hardship. As a language teacher, time and time again I get questions from some students about how to learn quickly and effectively, and when I show them the fastest, easiest way to do it, they are taken aback because "it can not be that simple" and stuff.
