How To Calculate Your Wing Speed | (Ep 4) CP Road To The British Open Paramotor Championships

In this episode of the Club Pilot Road To The British Open Paramotor Championships series we're calculating our wing speed which will in turn enable us to calculate our ground speed depending on the wind speed on any given day. "Ground speed is the horizontal speed of an aircraft relative to the Earth's surface." - Wikipedia. It's important to know your wing speed for each of your trim settings and speedbar. We'll be using these figures to calculate our navigation task timings in the competition.
To calculate your wing speed is very simple:
1. Determine the wind direction
2. Set your desired trim setting
3. Fly straight and level into wind & note down your speed
4. Fly straight and level down wind & note down your speed
5. Add these two speeds together and divide by 2

Did you not subtract the wind speed. Subtract the down wind from the interwind speed, then divide the difference by 2 that will give you the windspeed.
