@@nappywootz unsure exactly what you’re asking, but using a PDLC panel over your plate doesn’t involve applying a liquid to the plate itself. PDLC uses ‘liquid crystals’ in the display just like an LCD display uses them- end user doesn’t come into contact with any liquids in the course of daily use

(USACE, DOTD, the affected counties are all chipping in) but the contractors are all gonna spike the price even higher. so yeah, even now another project for my area (multi county) took 30 almost 40 years to even get started and was around 400 mill but its currently at 800 mill and pushing ever closer to a billion. mind you this is whilst the billion dollar Bridge is still at the TALKING phase. no forest clearing nor utility routing has been done yet. i doubt land acquisition has even been done yet. so each delayed year traffic is getting worse due to more and more folks moving out of the city to the surrounding areas and suburbs but still NEEDING the north/south road which is very much lacking. Hwy 61 can only accommodate so many vehicles. so yeah, I'm kinda a supporter of road taxes and toll roads. our last candidate for governor was with DOTD but southern politics are so predictable 1) low voter turnout 2) voting for the incumbent 3) voting for the VP, Lt Gov, or other familiar if the incumbent isnt on the ballot. so yeah 2028 presidential election will be interesting since that year WILL have a new face. but 2024 meh, we have our well know candidates. but yeah, back to my state level Government. the Lt Gov won. and my city needs new roads. i mean in a state level the DOTD candidate did a lot. city wise, Louisiana has a lot more growth they're behind on. now Texas and Florida, they have nice roads.

So this is really interesting. I almost did my own project to make one of these. The plastic just connects to a battery to turn on and off. It changes a crystalline structure to make it more see through. The trouble was finding the right size plate and getting it curved without damaging it. Additionally, to be visible, it must always have power. So you need a separate battery system that can be charged independently. Otherwise you’ll come back to a dead battery and vanished plate after a while.
Meanwhile in Missouri, it feels like 1 in 10 cars that I see has a crusty vintage paper temp tag from years ago. Wonder which one they'd pull over first, one of these temp tag relics (obviously that's a non-licensed car on the road), or your illegal vanishing plate. Probably neither, apparently.
