Piccolo's lines usually sound more tryhard then vegeta (which is the point) but this one hit

Fun fact: Lanipator, the voice of abridged Piccolo, Krillin and Vegeta has said on multiple occasions that 17 vs Piccolo is his all time favorite DBZ fight and the Hellzone Grenade is one of his favorite attacks so this episode was an absolute blast for him

To be fair, DBZ doesn't exactly set the record for abilities that stand out from each other. Hellzone grenade is one of the few that is clearly different in an easy to understand way.
Piccolo gets the best moves because it's not just a variant of the kamehameha or ki blast spam.

Pretty much. 90% of attacks boil down to "ki blast", "beam attack", or "orb of death". Though if you think about it, Hellzone Grenade is essentially Picollo's take on Yamcha's Spirit Ball, which would make sense considering he debuted the move against Kami.
"Most of those weren't even meant to be eaten that way" is a line that gets progressively more horrifying the more you think about it.

I dont really get that one. Its way better to be yamcha than krillin in this situation. The girl didnt even like krillin and was after his money as part of her job, yamcha had absolutely nothing and got to live the good life for like a decade. The only reason they broke up is because yamcha was getting other women on the side too. Krillin couldnt even find 1 human who wanted to date him. He had to reprogram a robot.

The archepelago fights are seriously one of the highlights of Abridged. Sure it starts with 17 vs Picollo, but there are a LOT more good matchups happening on those islands.

The Piccolo vs Android 17 fight was actually really awesome in the actual show. It was also pretty awesome here to as you saw glimpses of the fight and there was a lot of serious sick moves and actual brutal combat cause they were both equal in power.
Also your guys reaction to seeing Cell show up to the fight is priceless. Yeah things are about to get really crazy from here on out.

I swear evert episode continues to improve in both quality/writing/jokes/music and love for the series.
I appreciate that you are also uploading the DBZA movies reactions too because not only are they canon in the DBZA universe but you can pinpoint when exactly they would happen in the series with how well they integrate them into the Canon.
The abridged movies explicitly call themselves out for not being canon.

I love the first few moments of this video. Being able to laugh at each other's kookiness is cute. Also, I'm pretty sure this was mentioned in another video by someone else, but Piccolo literally isn't the same Namekian as he was during the last android encounter. When they fuse, they literally become a new person. Kinda like the fusion dance or Potara earrings but more permanent. He just continues to go by Piccolo to be polite (and he doesn't remember his original name). But he does have all of Piccolo's memories so for practical reasons, he basically is the same lol.

Fun fact: 17 and 18 are in fact Super humans with their cells heavily modified. Their cells age slower than normal human cells do, they can go for days without food but can still train to become even stronger. The only parts that are cybernetic are their bombs and emergency shut off systems inside the twins.
Android 17's shield technique is one of this show's most bulls*it powers.
Just in case you didn't know, the Androids have unlimited amounts of Ki due to a biotech "engine" in them. What's worse is the engine grows stronger as the human side of the androids grow stronger.
Piccolo wasn't joking when he said he was bluffing, he really was spent while 17 was just as strong as when the fight started, if Cell hadn't arrived then Piccolo would have been killed.
The androids can spam attacks all day long and never have to worry about fatigue or running out of power.
Due to this, 17's shield is OP. You can hit it all day long and it will never break, Piccolo's hellzone grenades were the worst possible attack he could have used against it because it was many small attacks converged onto one point.
17's shield can only be broken by an attack who's power is greater than 17's, so the only attack Piccolo had that might work would be the special beam cannon.
However, powerful attacks like that deplete the user's ki reserves and leaves them weak, and if that attack didn't manage to one shot 17, then 17 can just pop up a new shield immediately.
This is why it's so bulls*it. 17 is invincible against any one weaker than him, even if it's an army of thousands. He is also nearly invincible against people of similar strength as him, while being an extremely hard to kill person against those who are even stronger than him.
It's such an annoying technique to fight against in Kakarot the game. It was the fight that made me nearly rage quit (Yall should play the game one day too, its pretty good!)
1.Piccolo's fight with 17 is arguibly one of his crowning moments in the whole franchise. Keep in mind, he was the strongest member of the main cast by a wide margin at this point and only was forced into a stalemate against 17 because all the Androids have infinite stamina and Ki reserves, turning it into a battle of atrition they couldn't lose. Still, seeing him be an absolute badarse felt so rewarding.
2. Krillin's roast of Yamcha was *brilliant* and Tien enjoying the whole show was just the cherry on top
3. Get ready folks, the episodes from here on out lead to the completion of the *perfect villain*
We forgot that the Androids have infinite energy. Kind of tough to beat unless you are so powerful you can destroy them in one blast 😯

Fun fact about Androids 17 & 18; they have little to no mechanical parts, outside of the bombs. Their upgrades are organic technology, rather than the traditional metal.

Goku getting punched off the lookout is my favourite joke in the series - his actor just made him sound so happy!
Fun fact: Yajirobe has been implied to have eaten people, and did eat a "demon Namekian" back in Dragon Ball by the name of Drum. In fact he is one of those characters that was pretty tough when introduced but he was introduced late so got passed up by the other main characters pretty quickly.
I never really thought about how long 17 and Piccolo held that scream, very impressed that 18 and 16 were able to have an entire conversation before they finished.

The character who clones his wife in this series is Bulma's dad Dr. Brief. Love the names in DB.
I know they were trying to give Krillin a "win" with that joke against Yamcha, but it honestly failed.
At this point of the show Yamcha was a multi millionaire, a world famous baseball player with a harem of groupies and fans, and he lived in a penthouse suite.
Meanwhile Krillin is homeless.
Yamcha was being nice by not pointing that out.
At this point in the show Yamcha's baseball career was mostly filler, and he was a crappy teammate who was constantly absent. Nothing much is said about his wealth, though he did date several girls. Not exactly a harem though, he was cheating. And shared them with Puar. And Krillin's still right. Bulma likely kept Yamcha afloat with her momey until she got tired of him cheating on her, and took everything with her, which is likely the impetus of him getting serious about Baseball, because he had to.
here's the thing: krillin knows where he stands with folks in this season and doesn't try to be anything else. yeah, he's fearful and all but he's way happier in this season than any other due to him just trying to live his best life. and he landed the hottest chick in DBZ while he was homeless.
so who's really winning in this? the guy who's happy in his life without having anything or the guy who has all that but doesn't seem happy at all?
So to clarify something that isn’t mentioned on the abridged: piccolo IS stronger than the androids since he fused with kami, but these two androids where designed to have limitless energy at all times.
So as the fight drags on, piccolo begins to tire out while the android, while weakened, still remains fully energized.
Piccolo vs 17 is one of the best fights from the original show. It's one of the few times where the fighters are close enough in power that it's a genuine fight of skill and endurance, a genuine back and forth match that in theory could go either way (17 still had the advantage as he has unlimited energy).
It will concern them because if it was not obvious what he is in this timeline for, cell is after the two of them .
The reason that the android 17 can match piccolo is that they have devices within them that basically gives them unlimited energy and stamina , that is why for a good while the super sayians weren't a match because they couldn't keep it up as long as the androids could.

One of the best fights Piccollo ever fought to be honest. And Ken was right, he and 17 were equal in strength, but the Cyborgs have a kinda "unfair" abillity. They have literally infinite stamina. And now our Bug-Monster is here.. you will see some serious shit !
Ken being hype about cell reminds me of my first time watching dbz i always loved cell’s badass design and techniques he combined a ton of my favorite characters like frieza vegeta and piccolo. I actually met the english dub voice actor he also plays handsome jack in borderlands he’s a super nice dude even customized my autographs and did a few voicelines. Abridged cell is equally badass and funny af too

The reason Piccolo was having nostalgia when 17 described his creator telling him to kill Goku over and over while he was in stasis is because Piccolo's father, King Piccolo, spit him up as an egg (yep, they vomit up their children, cool!) and while he was waiting to hatch, the spirit of King Piccolo was telling his son and new body to kill Goku over and over. It's how Piccolo became evil to start with, only when he met and trained Gohan did he become good. King Piccolo's spirit was basically resurrected in his youngest child. So, when Piccolo became good, so did the original King Piccolo, and when Piccolo and Kami fused together, they formed back into their original form, since in order to become Guardian of Earth, Kami had to purge all the evil from himself, it split him into two beings.
And that's your OG Dragonball History lesson for today!
This is one of the best non Goku fights in the series.

its funny becuase in Dragonball, King Picollo was pure evil (and so was Picollo before he kidnapped Gohan) and all he wanted was to kill Goku. So his line "wow....just nostalgia" is a shout out to how similar he is to the Androids.
And the fact that after fusing with Kami, Picollo in the show dies. Him and Kami fuse into their original form known as The Namakien whose Name is Lost to Time. Yet he still answers to PIcollo in the show. In the abridged, they kinda ignored that.

I love tien's moment and the FF. They are pretty badass.
See what I mean? This Piccolo is way stronger than the Super Saiyans, Cooler, metal or otherwise and big blue Super 13. So weird that Team Four Star made it out that those movies were after the Kami fusion when they clearly weren't.

16 is full ANDROID=robotic body with Humanoid skin over it...
Goku still getting the name of the Hyperbolic time chamber wrong & Popo being sick of his crap was great. Piccolo keeps proving to be one of the greatest characters in the show the way he says” NOW BOW” gave me chills I also had to replay the scene with 17 get tricked it was priceless. Cell’s entrance was so cold can’t wait for next episode.
That back and forth between Krillin and Yamcha was one of the best and Roshi with the line at the end

17 is actually stronger than 18 and he didn't really show even half of his power before. In the series, Piccolo was kind of winning but his limit was that he can get tired and although 17 was taking a beating, he has an unlimited energy source.

He can't, because 16 being mechanical is why Cell can't absorb him.
But it doesn't really matter anyway, since 17 & 18's upgrades are entirely _organic_ technology. Aside from the bombs, neither they nor Cell have any mechanical parts.

Androids have infinite stamina, they cannot get tired, thats why they are equal, Piccolo and 17, at the start Piccolo was winning a bit, 17 has an energy shield, thats why he blocked Hellzone Grenade, and Cell needs to absorb 17 and 18 to become perfect, thats the whole reason for Cell’s existence
17 and 18 are cyborgs, they are flesh and blood with mechanical components, they’re called cyborgs in the original Japanese dub but they were mistranslated to androids in the American dub.
You guys should check the OG version of this fight. It's is amazing, and one of the top fights of all dragon ball universe.

This episode had some crazy one liners, between PIccolo's absolutely cold delivery on being God and Krillin single handedly destroying Yamcha my jaw damn near fell off the first time I saw it.

An interesting fact about the androids is that they're actually not that much stronger than a lot the z fighters in terms of fighting prowess 1 on 1. However, they can't physically run out of strength, which is also a big part of why Vegeta lost as well. He burned his stamina too fast.
Piccolo said overtly that 17 & 18 were twice as strong as the rest of them the first time they fought.
He then merged with Kami. Now they're roughly equal in power but for the unlimited energy.
So here’s the thing, the “when she left, she took all my money, when yours left, she took all her money” joke is admittedly quite funny, but the thing is that that line literally doesn’t make sense.
First off, they don’t really touch on it in abridged, but Yamcha is actually a professional baseball player, and considering his general power compared to an average human, he’s very likely the best player on Earth. The line could be referring to Bulma being rich, which she is, but Yamcha playing baseball means he very likely has money of his own to throw around.
Second, the money Krillin gained from dying on Namek LITERALLY did not belong to him, it belonged to his “brother” Juan.
So no matter the way you slice it the joke doesn’t make sense other than just another way to poke fun at Yamcha. And yes, I’m a huge Yamcha fan if you couldn’t tell by my reading way too far into a surface level joke just to defend my boy.

To this day, i'm still mad that people think Piccolo had a chance here. Against the Androids, being on an equal level as them is not enough. Why? Because most people get tired over time. Same here. Piccolo was on par with 17 at the beginning, but he got tired, while 17 was as strong as he was at the beginning of the time. If the fight had continued, Piccolo would've lost. It was the same with Vegeta and 18. At the beginning, Vegeta was equal to her, but she slowly gained the upper hand, because Vegeta got exhausted. Against the Androids you HAVE to be far stronger than them to beat them.

17 and 18 are "cyborgs" which are still part biologically human. They have mechanical parts put into them, but they are still biological. They aren't a Terminator per say, as such Cell CAN absorb them. In fact that is kind of the goal, so yeah they aren't going to be wanting to just sit there and let Cell do whatever he wants.
