Greetings from Pakistan. Great choice indeed and wonderful reaction as usual. Aamir Zaki is regarded as arguably the best guitarist ever produced by Pakistan. This particular song was released in 1995. I believe there is an English as well as an instrumental version of this song released simultaneously at that time. He is featured as guitarist / lead guitarist in several songs of Coke Studio Season 7 and Season 10. He died at a young age of 49 years I think due to cancer. His last performance was in Coke Studio Season 10 for his guitar part in the song Naina Moray. It's really heartening to see that you are doing research and delving deep into Pakistani music. Amir Zaki wrote this song for his ex-wife when they got saperated. he went into severe depression after that and also struggled with his health which caused him prolonged illness and eventually he left us due to a Heart Attack.
He made his surprising final appearance after almost a decade in Coke Studio Season 7 (2014) as a featured guest guitarist in couple of songs and the very last in CokeStudio Season 10 (2017) in just one song.

This song brings back memories. The song is from early 90s. The gnr era.
Now telling you about kashmir cover. This show was battle of bands where new random guys comes n play. N kashmir was just new guys from college who come with a band to play. Being so new..this performance was marvellous. N so in all competitions they won the final. The first Pepsi Battle of bands happened in 2002 in this 2nd happened in 2017.
The format was like the bands have to cover famous songs n in a way that they must change it totally, so Kashmir couldnt follow Aamir's way. It was the requirement of Kashmir, to sing the same song lyrics in a new way.
This cover has similar lyrics only.
On other hand, Aamir Zaki was a guitarist who sung this song in 1996. He has numerous albums and music instrumentals but he has really sung 2 songs ever. One was english "Money" and 2nd was "Mera Pyar". Mera pyar he sang just coz it was his life story. This song is a sad love song of separation.
Later he also sang or play one coke studio song which i havent listened.
So Mera Pyar became a rage in 90s for the same reason you feel it. It always topped the charts. Its in a sense Aamir only song which he sang, rest all are his guitars instrumentals which he released in an album "Signature".
You are watching a song from Ptv times (pakistan television) when we had just one channel. TThis is our national channel. They had a program named MCC, music channel charts in which all the new pop bands would release their new songs every week and it was very exciting for us.
I just mentioned PTV and MCC in a comment on his reaction video to Dil Dil Pakistan!!! Those were the days😂😂😂

This song "Mera Pyar" (My Love) was his hit song in which we can see his work in detail. Also this song is so melodious and soothing to the soul. Artist people are so sensitive people. After his separation from his wife, he was so much depressed. Actually he wrote and sang this song for his beloved wife. He said: "Mera pyar tum hee ho" ...
(My Love is only you).
Amir released an English version of this song as well. It's called "Do you really love another" it's sad he could not make it big despite being very talented

Jim, ur so right abt the key difference between the two songs - the original is truly evocative because Amir Zaki is mournful and it shows in his voice as he is singing Mera Pyar. No one else has managed to capture that sadness in any number of covers sung afterwards. It remains an Amir Zaki classic to date. May he RIP.

Amir Zaki was sensation back in the 80s & 90s. He played with many Pakistani bands. Also performed in various countries. He didn’t sing much, but was mainly a guitarist. May God bless his soul & Rest his Soul.

His fans still miss his music very much. Aamir Zaki sang this song Mera Pyar( My love) in 1995.
Thanks for an amazing choice. Ami Zaki was the most talented guitarist Pakustan has produced. This famous song was written in response to Aamir's divorce from his beloved wife. That depression never really left him in his short life. Thank God we got to see him in Coke Studio. Chorus..

1995 was when the original song was released so basically 27 years old.

But he did another which was Naina Moray, Coke studio. He passed away 3 month before it’s release.
Late Amir Zaki's Golden Song contaxt was he seperated and was very emotionally down when he sung this.

The song was released in the early 90s. The song is actually more of a pop song with commercial consideration in mind, which is not his usual style. He is more of a Blues/Rock style of artist.
Pop sells, and that’s sadly a reality.
In regards to this song, it has a rather sad background.
Zaki wrote this song for his ex wife. Zaki was deeply and madly in love with his wife, however sadly that marriage ended in a divorce.
That left an indelible mark on Zaki.
The divorce led him into depression from which he never recovered. He never remarried, as he couldn’t think of being with another woman, because his ex wife was the only one in the world to him.
Towards the end of his life his depression got pretty bad. He even burnt many of his prized guitars.
At the age of 49 he died off cardiac arrest all alone in a small rented house.
A truly tragic life story.

The original song was released in July / August 1995.
Ofcourse Aamir’s (original) version is better, no one can sing it better than him.
He was highly regarded guitarist in Pakistan. He had a compilation of his tunes called “Signature” (Released Feb 1995). Artists of this level are sometimes very sensitive and emotional. Potential this person had to make fortunes but he couldn’t cash it, the way many half skilled people do.

This band won the battle of bands. Awesome band. Guitarist plays like Pink Floyd type guitar. The whole band has a Pink Floyd-esque feel. The band that came in 2nd was also amazing. They had a real neck and neck competition

The difference you felt was Aamir's was absolutely heartfelt and he truly meant and uttered each and every word and chord he put across.

Actually it was meant to be different. It was a tribute not a cover song. Bcz it was a competition where bands had to show their versatility and ability to create their own music. Had it been the same it would ho against the objective of this pepsi battle of the band, which was to find more innovative and passionate bands.
Great review, in order to know more the great guitarist react on (you need that fire) by Aamir zaki. He wasn't perfect vocalist but in guitars he used to play blues. The song I requested to you is 5 min 30 seconds and it's without any vocals, it's just long guitar solo and you know it a solo long then 1 min is very difficult. The sad news that he wasn't given the Respec and fame as he deserved,these days not too many people love the great music. There is one more song from him I'll suggest to you once you have done this reaction. Another thing the song you just reacted is also in English.
