- I started to inspect the new ZX14 twin project I got. the bike is actually a Concours 1400, very similar to ZX14 motor with a few exceptions. I bought this project bike for $500 thinking it was a steal, come to find out there was a major issue that I completely overlooked when purchasing. The bike actually had a damaged engine casing from the impact during the wreck. Y’all stay tuned into this wrecked bike rebuild where I inspect the engine and get it tuned up and ready for installation back in the bike!

I always turn the engine a couple of turns to help seat the shims b4 checking gd job man she’s coming along nice

Btw, the rubber you found was from a plug spanner. It keeps the plug secured in the plug spanner.
I don’t think so, it was tight on the walls of the tube unless it some how swelled a lot I don’t think it would fit in a socket or anything like that

Hey, next time mesure all the shims first. You mught be able to interchange shims without having to take new ones. Sometimes the shim you need in on one of your exhaust valves, that you need to change anyways. Just a tip :).
That’s exactly what I did! That’s why all the buckets are on my table at the same time.

I think you have a Concours 14 motor based on that vvt. Might be wrong.
That rubber piece looks like the inside of a socket for spark plugs. Usually they have a rubber piece in them.
Yeah it does but it was too big to fit into any of my spark plug sockets which doesn’t make any sense lol.
@@Benjamminoutdoors Possibly it was swollen no telling how long it had been in there.
The rubber ring on the spark plug could be from the last person who changed the plugs? I have seen this before when some uses an old spark plug socket and the rubber insert from the socket detaches and remains on the spark plug.
Except this doesn’t fit in the socket the OD is too large it was the size of the spark plug hole itself

Ah yes. The ever familiar rage inducing experience of tightening your cams down only for the intake side to slip as the lobes push them whichever way they will after you spent way too long making sure the proper shims were being put in only to realize that you don't have enough of the shim size that you need. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
It doesn't matter how much I overstock shims. Without fail, when doing valves, the one I have least of is the one the bike is going to need. It's sick and twisted

Show how you connected stater with battery to turn the engine
I just connected a a ground from the battery to the engine block and then a cable from starter positive terminal to the battery positive terminal
Is it really necessary to put double gasket sealer on? Seems like overkill. Great video none the less!
Maybe not, but it guarantees me I won’t have any leaks or seepage of oil. Because it’s a pain to have to drop the motor or remove the valve cover again.
Did you alter or remove or modify the VVT mechanism ? I understand that the ZX-14 does not have that feature?
I did not modify it at all, I left at stock because it would require tuning

Lol I coined the name Benjamminoutdoors in high school before CZcams. I used to fish, scuba dive, ride bikes, and tons of other outdoor activities and but the bike rebuilds did well so I’ve been steady making those videos and not ganna change the name haha.
