Just purchased my first ring stretcher / reducer. It's a 4 spline JPB and the stretcher works well for the dozen or so quarter coin rings I've made so far and does ring sizes 1-15. The reducer mandrel isn't too bad but it only accommodates up to about a size 11 max but I've got people requesting finished size 12 and 13 rings. Do you know of a replacement or aftermarket mandrel that will accommodate a larger ring. Or should I be looking at a reduction dye set? I have a 2" doming block and have been using it but it's a lot trickier to keep straight. Your input is appreciated.
You can get dies and a mega stretcher that will help you get to bigger sizes at jasonsworks.com. the mega stretcher will go over your existing stretcher.
Coin Rings from The Mint - Change You Can Wear Thank you for your input. I can get the ring stretched just fine with this stretcher. The larger sizes can't be reduced since the mandrel doesn't have a large enough die hole. However, with more practice, I'm now getting better at using the doming block to reduce the reeded side of the stretched coin. And I've already dropped Jason a line about which dies I should purchase next. Again, thanks for the input and keep up the great work with the videos.
Skyler, I try to make two rings from silver quarters a both split when stretching and I was't stretching to much, my target size was 9. could it be that I did't anneal often? I can make rings from clad quarters with no problem but the silver quarters is a problem for me. what am I doing wrong?
I'm guessing you aren't sanding your cut edge to where it is smooth and rounded enough. If it isn't perfectly smooth and rounded, it splits. You can get away with it on non silver much easier.
are the reducer wheels suppose to have grooves in the pits? or is it because i bought a cheep one? it ruins the coin design on the edges. where can i get a wheel of better quality to replace mine?
Coin Rings from The Mint - Change You Can Wear ive been wanting to take your classes for awhile now I found your videos and then found out you’re pretty close to me I live around Portland. Small world I guess
Parker Kennedy Right on! I'm actually finally moving from my private home studio to a shop on 3rd st. In McMinnville. It is hard to get space down there! I've been looking for a year.
Excellent video quality. Music = intrusive. Details lacking. What's the purpose of the video ? Is the viewer supposed gain any knowledge from this video ?
Some people thought my voice was intrusive haha. That's a reason I made this. I have tons of info packed videos on this subject looking at it from every angle. This video is for the 98% of my viewers who never intend to make one. They just want to see how done.
I enjoyed the video. I make coin rings and it was visually straight to the point without the 30 minutes of chit-chat. Best part was showing how to even out the ring. Looking forward to more videos, welcome back.

Thank you so much for sharing. I have been wanting to do this for a while now
That’s a great piece to give as a keepsake 😊
I will be referencing your videos from now on. I just got the master swede kit in the mail today!😁
Glad to see you back!
Thanks!
Very nice !!

What size punch do you suggest for quarters and halves? Actually, I just found a video of yours from 5 years ago that was extremely helpful! Thanks!!
Right on! 1/2 is my preferred.
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint Yup, I have the all size punches for what coin recorded in a chart! Thx!

Any chance you can list tools used for this project? I'm making these for my business and am tired of hammering.
Sure! I have an in depth video just before this one that tells the tools.
Do you know these coins are literally worth it right?
Is it possible to do this with the colorized state quarters?
Unfortunately the paint chips off.
Change You Can Wear awww ok bummer. Thanks for answering my questions! I love all the videos. :)
How much for a 1992 silver quarter ring?
1992 isn't a silver coin..
I must be in the 2%. Dooly noted.
Haha it took me a while to realize it was such a small percentage. Thanks for the comment!

N gate Haha, are you trying to be ironic? If not, you should learn some basic punctuation before criticizing other people’s spelling. Lol
What human has this many gadgets to do this?
Do I count as a human? Lol
Rockd I have those gadgets. Sure I spent $400 and I’ve only used them for like 6 hours but my rings look nice
Parker Kennedy I'm glad there are other humans out there. I was feeling lonely haha
