Hey guys, thanks for your interest in South African rugby. I appreciate your comment and yes I have seen Lamar Jackson play. He is fast, real fast. One cannot actually compare the two games but as far as running goes it is an art to be able to do what they do. Also the protective gear, in rugby there is none. What Cheslin and a few other players sometimes wear is a soft thinly padded "scrum cap" as we call it, to protect his ears. Then there are the defenders protecting the ball carrier, I'm not sure of the terminology but correct me if I'm wrong. In rugby you are on your own. You can only pass the ball backwards, never forward, which makes the field of play sometimes so much longer. But nonetheless sport is sport. I love watching American football. I don't have a clue about the rules but the running is great. For some reason I like the San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Maybe it's the ring to the name but yeah, I see you guys enjoy your football. Keep watching guys. An old guy from South Africa.

Idk about 'most'. I know flyhalves like Handre Pollard would. Idk how many can adjust to catching a forward pass deep down the field. I know this much not many NFL guys coukd play rugby. The pace would kill them.

That's a stupid statement. I played rugby union in high school in Africa prior to that as a young boy in AmeriKKKa I played Pop Warner football. In the latter shoulder charges, no arm tackling is employed. I don't think there's even any such penalty as a high tackle. If a scrum cap is not a pad what do you call it? Jean DeVilliers always wore some type of padding under his jersey. What's my favorite sport? You got it, rugby union.
@@Mo-yd8xc You can not compare a padded shirt to the pads worn in NFL and shoulder charges are banned in rugby not because they are unsafe but just too easy. The reason why high tackles are permitted in NFL is because of all the padding. Come on let's call a spade a spade here.
