@johnnyth440 Psychlo would never have experimented with fusion nor fission due to the danger to them. Then again, the UV rays from their own sun would have exlodified their atmosphere long ago anyways. Or they have no sun. It's Battlefield Earth, so what makes sense rests on a foundation of bs already.

lol I feel guilty, I watched this movie and unironically enjoyed it when I was a teenager.
It's very silly, and I think I was just in a really good mood.
This film could have been immaculate. Instead, it's... Well, this.
The beauty of this (in spite of the film's general badness) is that it isn't just the whole planet that's destroyed. The entire Psychlo empire was annihilated on virtually all their worlds across the universe(s) because they happened to be having some form of annual mass transitioning at the time, meaning their portals/teleports were open on every Psychlo world, all of which had or were terraformed with the same radioactivity-igniting atmosphere. So when the nuke went off, BOOM!
If i remember correctly home planet did transports simultaneously on a regular basis and the humans found out the schedule to pull this off
Wait, is this from the book or something? So is the implication that Jonnie Goodboy Tyler killed countless across the multiverse? Yikes, he's a bigger monster than Terl! What, there were no children, pacifists, or even slaves on those planets? Yeah ok, the Earth was saved, but at what cost?
@@johnnyth440 Yeah in the book they transport the nuke and it ignited all the atmospheres that had breath gas and annihilated every single psychlo planet, then they had the very last psychlo in the entire universe as a prisoner and he sold the company to the humans. So the humans walked into the universal bank and found out that they had acquired not only the massive amounts of unthinkable wealth that the psychlo empire had but also thousands of habitable planets that psychlo was required to hold possession of as sort of a carbon credit due to some intergalactic law that made them own I think 2 untouched planets for every one that they strip mined. So in the end they wipe out the bad guys that were killing off the universe and become the richest species in the universe, dislocated species got new homes and a salesman shows up to Earth and sells them a state of the art satellite defense grid of shields and planetary weapons that makes Earth utterly untouchable ever again.

1. The home planet was the only one with breeding females. All off-world females were sterilized, and only able to be reversed on the planet.
2. Multiple races had tried the atomic weapon before. All of the telepads were shielded and would instantly detect radiation and stop this. In this case, they had so many bombs placed, it blew out the base of the telepad, and ignited the air in the cave system, allowing this to happen.
3. There were no jets in the book. Instead, they took over the various mining transports to attack with.
really? maybe it was wrongly dubbed but i remember that when Travolta´s character got caged in the end the main hero said to him that not even the whole gold in the universe would be enough to pay the bounty landed upon Travolta´s character head once they find out his actions lead to destruction of the home planet

Psychlos are spitting image of Americans, Republicans mostly hence the senator & home(oval) office disregarding Terl s academic achievements & talents and laughing in his face because they inflicted more misery at him(one of their own).
That is why it was so disturbing to most of ya but never to my folks(hundreds of thousands non EuroWhitrash).
We related to victimized humans same way u deplorables related to Psychlons.
And damn.
It feels good to see Republicans squirm.
It starts off pretty bad, but once you get through the first two hours the rest of it's pretty solid.

the Scene of Psychlo being destroyed perfectly describes the hopes of the Film makers after the film became a Commercial Failure.

I love how nobody talks about the jets, it says in the movie that humans were defeated 1000 years ago, the jets would of been rust, not to mention the fact they just start perfectly after 1000 years, this movie was garbage.

If the atmosphere of Psychlo is flammable to the point where one spark can incinerate the entire planet, then I wonder how an asteroid impact has not destroyed the planet millions of years in the past?
In the book a uranium particle could ignite a deadly explosion of their breath gas/ atmosphere. They denated a nuclear bomb.
Nuclear reactions consume oxygen on planet earth. There's no way one would work on theirs when it doesn't work on our own. The fire would run out of gas by choking itself by creating vacuum space.

Then the heat and pressure from the primary detonating cause the fusion secondary to undergo fusion and if the tamper that's in the bomb is made of uranium-238 that can also undergo fission releasing even more energy. Oxygen has zero bearing on any nuclear detonation. Don't believe me? Go look up starfish prime. Detonation of a nuclear warhead in the extremely thin upper atmosphere of earth.
In the book, the Psychlo planet doesnt actually exist in our Universe but in another Universe, our uranium element is super reactive in their Universe hence a nuclear weapon can destroy their whole planet. In the book, they detonated 10 very dirty nuclear weapon to destroy their home planet
well,the point of them making humans mining the gold instead of mining it themselves was the gold was often in radioactive areas,which would make their breathing apparatuses go boom and if still alive,make them suffocate exposed to oxygen (hence why early in the movie in an psychlo friendly environment humans had to breathe through alike designed but oxygen supplying apparatuses)
