This is the closest I have seen to the classic taste of hokkien’s bamboo wrapped sticky rice dumplings. No salted eggs. My mom never made it with salted egg. Missing dried oysters and garlic. Well, dried oysters are very expensive now. Except for the above, it definitely taste like my mom’s.

Singaporean in the uk. Am contemplating making them as I simply cannot wait to go home to eat them. Thanks for this. Have seen many videos but I think the ingredients in this vid is most familiar to me. Thanks for this and wish me luck! Best wishes to your lovely mum and you!

Zongzi comes with oyster sauce, soy sauce, salt plus salty dried shrimps. Of course it will taste good. So for health issues I would reduce salt. Smoke mushrooms can be marinated with the pork without stir frying so it's going to be healthy.

My mother use to make it without sauté the pork. As I get older, I don’t like the fatty sections of the pork. Remember how I used to dig the pork out to separate the fat. I think it is a good idea to sauté the pork, maybe it wouldn’t feel so oily and the pork are more intact than mushy

My mom and mother in law use to make this and now I know what effort it took. This reminds me of that film: Eat, Drink, Man, Woman where the father takes the entire day to prepare a dinner for his daughters. Great film BTW. Thanks.

May I ask if I can omit the chicken stock or any replacement? Like maybe more salt or soy sauce ?
